Introductory video of the Ford Flathead adapter and the T5 Front Shift tailhousing for the perfect way to add overdrive to your Flathead powered street rod.
I want to pick one up for my '47 ford pickup truck. Also I want cnc the word: MoFo on top of the adapter, please. In the same font style. thx you. haha.
How would this modification fit in a 1950 Ford coupe? where would the shifter set in the floor? What kind of body mods do I have to do? Do I have to put in a slave cylinder for the clutch? Can I use the original clutch pedal?
Hello Wayne, to answer your questions, The T-5 with front-shift converted bell housing will clear without any modifications, other than where the shifter comes thru the floor. The shifter location will come up 19" from the back of the engine block. We have a variety of adapters. If you have a bell that separates from the transmission you can use a small plate adapter. If the bell is integrated into your existing transmission we offer the MD-401-2109 adapter in hydraulic style, round cross-shaft for linkage style, or slotted cross-shaft for clevis-pin design. If you choose a hydraulic clutch actuation option you can use the factory pedal and create a plate to mount the master cylinder. A transmission support crossmember must be used. If you have any further questions or would like to order anything please give u a call @ 208-453-9800 or email us at sales@moderndriveline.com, we are more than happy to help.
@@waynes4612 Hello Wayne, The driveshaft will have to be shortened a little, as the T5 is physically longer than the OE transmission. usually, we advise customers to have that done locally if possible as it is more economical than buying a custom made driveshaft. we do have a measurement instruction sheet. If you would like one please let me know by emailing us sales@moderndriveline.com
In the days there were many different high performance options for the flat head Ford V8 including OHV conversion, some of these are still around but be warned they are not cheap! I would not be surprised if someone is either making alloy heads or will start making some soon because they are a reasonably simple head no valve gear etc. This would be due to the interest in flat head V8,s seems to be increasing.
Instead of buying the aulminum flathead v8 it be better to buy the sand mold of one and make one your self because ive also been wanting to make 400 cubic inch french flatheads and sell the blocks them with 400 small block ford cylinder sleeves in them
