and the worst thing is that Ford doesn't have low level of coolant indicator. If you are not aware of this issue and drive it till is empty, the engine will melt.
My 2012 got a new leak after I replaced the o-rings on the heater hoses (they were absolutely leaking, but a few months apart). I felt all the hoses down low at the front of the engine and couldn't find any of them leaking, even though there was coolant on the fascia and splash guard. Then I saw coolant on TOP of the engine mount at the front of the engine. That's when I suspected it was the reservoir. I put a rag under the reservoir and drove for a few days. Afterwards, the rag was completely wet with coolant. I just picked up a new reservoir today. Mine has the same crack, of course.
Have you figured out what the leak was? I have a 2015 focus st and im filling it with coolant after nearly every drive. Cant seem to see any leak and it passed the pressure test. Driving me crazy
@@jessebudelman i looked in mine today and there wasnt a bit of coolant after a 15 minute drive. engine isnt overheating either. Im going to lose my mind if i dont find it
@@cormacocallaghan7634 I’m onto other weird things now lol cars making a horrible metal on metal noise like a bad engine Mount but all of them are tight lol
This happened with my 2010 focus after replacing the pump I found a small crack in expansion tank. I believe thay go brital with age and heat . It shows symptoms of a leaking water pump as the coolent drips down to the pump area.
Just had mine pressure tested and the shop said it holds pressure, and they can’t find a leak. It’s leaving a puddle And I’m having to fill up the reservoir once a week. Probably going to replace the reservoir and hope for the best.
Losing oil and coolant but no visible losses on the ground or smoke in the exhaust. A blocked PCV line from what I can tell and a got a P144A Evap code so the little valve from what I understand with that is stuck open. Til the evap code it was running perfectly fine aside from the losses in coolant and oil and people make it sound like this engine is pretty solid for a good few hundred thousand miles as long as your oil maintenance etc is done which I do religiously.
This code pops up every few months and goes away, now I'm having a coolant leak that's very slow. Never had a coolant leak until now. P144A code was on my car a few weeks ago and went away, could this be related to the new coolant leak?
@@ldhchick I wouldn't think so. That said I replaced the EVAP solenoid which was cheap and easy but also turns out there was a recall for the car because the computer doesn't do a good enough job indicating a problem and the plastic gas tank can deform from the vacuum as well as potential stalling or runaway high rpms.
People changing your head gaskets riddle me this: if your head gasket has failed, why does the reservoir only leak to a certain point and stop leaking?
I had a coolant reservoir with a VERY tiny leak. Replaced it and the problem continues. There are several cuases for a coolant leak and proper diagnosis is the only solution not random parts replacement like you mentioned.
Mine has been replaced as it was full of oil from the oil cooler failure, also had the cluster resoldered,,it seemed to be running great, but then overheated and somehow lost coolant
I think i have the same problem. But mine leaks when i turn the engine on and reaches the temperature. And while im driving. As soon i saw it leaking i put my Cellphone underneath and saw the dripping coming from underneath the cover from the reservior. But i still need to take it in to see if thats the issue since someone ran the computer and it shows the radiator hose. And since is connected to the reservior so im just going to see if the mecanic could change both of this. My isuzu also is giving me different diagnostics. The other time was a misfire got it fixed. Then it gave me a maff sensor code. Which was already replace a month before so i just ignore this diagnost this time they pass the computer it didn't pop out. But today it read radiator hose. And lean 1 and 2 but they already fixed them few weeks ago. Also showed manifold i said i don't think so😂 i had to pay for someone to adjust my heater core they didn't tight the clamps well and hose came out place my truck almost burned 😢 so scary at times to go to some mecánics.. 😤
Question: losing coolant from under the car, passengers side. It appears to be, (in what would have been the trans tunnel.) I found under the heat shield a small white plug that, from under the car and into the floor.
So having had my oil cooler replaced, and my dashboard clocks re-done,, The car was running great however it is still pressurising in the cooling system,, it’s going for a sniff test and possible thermostat replacement on Friday, as long as I keep topping it up it’s not overheating as such and I’ve had it taken it short distances after my trip on Friday when it did start to overheat
We’re you finding coolant inside your hood?? I’m going to check mine tomorrow I’m so frustrated 🤦♂️ I’ve been driving, coming home after even 5 minutes of driving and finding coolant on the inside of my hood basically right about that reservoir 🤦♂️ but I don’t see any cracks yet, tomorrow I’ll go in depth. Thankyou
Update: ended up selling the car, probably the worst purchase I’ve ever settled on. It had an overheating issue, it had a bent cam gear, it was popping out of gear in higher RPM. Typical ford junk. 2nd ford I’ve owned and I regret buying it just like the first one I purchased. Beat old junkers
My 2014 ford focus leaks coolant after running the ac and driving for about 20 mins. I've taken it to be looked at but have been told twice that nothing is wrong, yet my coolant reservoir is empty. 😭 I keep adding coolant to bring the level back to just above the min line.
Could this cause leak onto passenger floorboard? My daughter has a 2016 focus and it will leak a huge puddle into passenger floorboard. We took to ford and they said they couldn’t find anything. It happens when she runs the AC in this Texas heat.
I would check the a/c drain valve underneath the car, they tend to get clogged, see if the puddle is coolant or water, if coolant then it could be the heater core, if water the def a clained a/c drain
Focus are notorious for the ac drain to become disconnected behind the kick panel on the left side of the passenger front floor area causing water to pool on back passenger floor
2012 here, and I replaced the water pump about 8 months ago it was leaking really bad. Now it says over temp and there’s no coolant in the Reservoir. I too it off and it’s fine for a week or so. I don’t see any wet spots ??
Check water outlet hosing on the driver side of the cylinder head. They are known to crack. Should see coolant around the transmission on top in that area
2013 ford fusion titanium awd, 2.0 ltr turbo charged Found mine cracked and leaking from the bottom right side, It's not that bad but still leaking quarter of the tank every 1 week 😊, The pressure test will not detect it, bcuz at the time the mechanic will do the test, the coolant fluid already below the crack level bcuz it's leaking remember 😊
My girl has a 2012 focus is it normal for it to leak from a factory hole it has on the bottom of the coolent bottle its not cracked I picked it up and seen it's was leaking from a factory hole it has
Hello sir I have ford focus 2009 in coolant tank has air pressure when i opend the tank coolant increase level then i drive almost 20 kms level down minimum level plz answer me what is happening?
if the system had been serviced or opened could be air in the system and you would have to bleed the system. also if you are loosing coolant you could have a leak or even a head gasket issue.
Mine lasts a week. Max last Sunday. Saturday now and below the min just a quarter left. Car doesn’t or didn’t overheat etc. weird. Belts all working fine. Gonna try this. Fact it leaks so slowly.
If it's near the water pump area it's this. Sometimes the crack is not even notizupon inspection. Try putting your hand underneath it and feel for coolant
@@DLMGarage turned out had to replace tank. Very small leak, however ran on empty as got tad lazy and done in the temp sensor. Replaced both, all sorted now. To those reading if it’s leaking, KEEP IT FILLED! Ha.
Son of a bitch. Didn’t even think to check that honestly. My 2016 st just suddenly and catastrophically overheated yesterday. Jacked it up today (which was a bitch in its own right) and checked the turbo which i thought exploded, all good from what i can tell all lines are good at least. Checked the radiator, seems all good but it’s difficult to really see with these cars. All coolant lines are in tact and mounted properly. I might take a look at this but i have a hard time believing it is this.
