The RS500 badge is back with a bang! First seen on the Sierra Cosworth RS500 back in the eighties, it's a name that stands for one thing - all-out performance. Read more: www.autoexpress.co.uk/videos/f...
@kazimann - I have run vehicles with high horsepower and fwd and gotten them to handle with MR2s. I've even made the MR2 understeer where an Isuzu Impulse powered FWD Geo Storm GSi would not. Where FWD has a drawback in handling is when it gets heavy. A 330-horse Olds Aurora won't handle with a 340-horse Dodge Charger, because both are heavy. However, in my opinion, the Aurora is more fun than the Charger in the corners, and better in snow and rain.
@kazimann it doesnt need a 4WD, because 1st and foremost putting a 4WD system on the RS will increase its retail price because 4WD systems are jolly expensive, 2nd it puts alot of weight on the car, thus losing acceleration. what ford has just done with the FWD system of the RS is to put revoknuckle suspension and a nifty limited slip diff, thats why this car handles like a beauty in the corners.
@MrToyotaboy13 where getting the New Focus St with an twin turbo 2.0 inline 4 with 250hp at 9psi with no turbo lag and a 0-60 of under 5.5 secs it coming soon.
@qskatermaniac i was talking about general preference in your country. You, and some are exception from the rule. Don't take it personal. Greetings from Romania
@Draxindustries1 I beg to differ. I've had an BMW 118d, wich i did over 20000km's in, and it certainly didnt feel like a superior car in terms of quality compared to a titanium-spec Focus. And if Merc is of such high quality, why have they been at the bottom end of almost every big reliability survey since the early 2000's? And you should see all the new VW's when winter hits us over here in Finland, their water pumps break down(very common, electric window motors jammed, etc, etc.
@vertine11 I'm not putting the car down, I saw one at the 'Ring this year and they look fantastic (shame it's FF). I'm saying that they've been tested by magazines in the UK and rarely see over 155. There's far too much nonsense on the internet that people believe.
@kazimann 1. have you driven the car? 2. how do you know it would understeer horrendously? 3.if some idiot was driving it, who didn't know how to drive properly would probably make this car understeer 4. this car has had nothing but good reviews as far as i've seen. 5. do you understand what suspension setup this car is using?, because it's quite a clever setup, which harnesses the power well.
@Oggy2007UK yeah your right dude. just install a k&n drop in filter and a bigger FMIC and install a bluefin remap system on the ECU, it can to 380BHP hahhaha and you only need to spend just around 1,000 euros to get an addiction 75BHP thats a good buy for me LOL
@ohyeahbustedyeah maybe in Europe. But I am in the US and I never heard anyone ever say they are taking their car to the track to race it. That's stupid. Going 80mph on the expressway is good enough for us.
The reason this car wouldn't be sold in the us is because of the limited sales of the car and it would outsell the mustangs. People would want to see more of the focus here if they would have brought it here
@Draxindustries1 BMW a quality car? I owned a focus for 3 years never had any problems with it. I had a BMW 320d touring for 6 months 2 turbos went the head gasket went and then the cylinder head cracked. God knows how much more would have went wrong if id kept the thing.
Nice car ... really sporty and easy to drive fast. But once again, if you see 165 on the speedometer, you are driving slower (~10% less)... A bit too easy how he's testing the car. But I like it.
@Draxindustries1 And in what way have Ford copied Koreans with their styling? Looking at the revised S-Max&Mondeo, and the upcoming Focus, i really cant see it. But, as i said, looks&style are a case of personal taste. And what comes to bad cars in terms of quality, and everything else actually, just go sit in a Shit-roen or Poo-geot. They fall apart or get an electrical issue even if you only glance at them.
@kazimann 4WD? no need, it wouldn't be as quick or as nimble round a track plus a normal conventional 4WD system add's alot of weight, trust me this car is better off FWD Search: focus RS 'why isn't it four wheel drive'. someone from ford of europe explains why it isn't 4WD
If you can't get hold of a RS500, get a standard Focus RS MK2, re-map it to 350hp wrap it in matt black put a RS500 badge on it and voula.... A RS500.. No one would be any the wiser.... Lol
@qskatermaniac you see, there you don't have taste in cars. In your country large, slow, high fuel consumers v8s are most common. I'd rather prefer a straight 6 from BMW than a Cadillac V8 :)
@greenrolaids. beyond my means.lol i,m not stupid enough to pay 35k for a ford with 350bhp and FWD. not matter how much reviewers say it handles all that power. i,ve driven the RS with 305bhp and that struggles up to 70mph to put the power down. let alone 350bhp. ford made this because they haven,t got the bollocks to take on MITSIBISHI OR SUBARU. instead they put there mighty RS against 200bhp hothatches and think it,s great to win by 2 sec but it costs 21k more. lol
@Nakke144 Know plenty about cars believe me, we specialise in VW/Audi, Porsche, Merc and BMW so know a quality car when i see it and this Ford just like any other isnt one of them. Unfortunatly for Ford the blue oval image just goes from bad to worse and now with the designers copying from the Koreans it looks like its certainly not going to get any better in the fordeeable future...
BTW at 1:02 look the AWFULL and shitty interior LOL.Ford spend some money on interior instead of exterior.and to some guys.this is a FWD still whatever Ford does to improve it.give it more power and this will not corner at all.go drive an STI or EVO and then we talk about 300-350 bhp ranged cars.giving 5 out of 10 just for the exterior nothing else lol
Its a rubbish effort to try and mimic the original RS500,never will be as desirable as the real thing.Spend £1800 on a mountune conversion to your ordinary RS Focus, and minus the paintjob you have the same car.
