*CORRECTION*...I'm aware I got the coolant path wrong, coolant flows from the front, towards the back of the heads, and installing the coolant crossover allows coolant to exit the rear of the drivers side head, eliminating that notorious hot spot, and evening out the heat. Same concept, and a great mod to do, But I'm aware I said it wrong in the video... That being said, make sure you LIKE the video and SUBSCRIBE for more! ⚡⚡⚡
I've done the "4x4 lightning swap" thing. Built NVH short block, APR 2K hardware throughout, 8 thread ported PI heads, 10lower, 2.8 upper, ported 99 Eaton. Put down 425/523 on WMS dyno. Has cats still, the spun MBS 200 cell ones, but it passes emissions. That swap is gonna be a PITA to do today because Motorcraft doesn't make a lot of the parts you need anymore. You'll need a fan spacer to use your OEM fan and the Lightning fan shroud and you'll need to fab up a throttle cable/cruise control cable bracket because you can't buy a new one anymore. You'll need a CJ crank if you plan to really spin the Eaton, you'll snap the snout off a stock steel crank if not. You'll need to fab up an alternator bracket as well, or find a used one. I did my swap back in 09 when you could kinda buy the "basic swap kit" from Mike on the forums, but he has passed away and motorcraft stopped making lots of the parts.
Nice! Yeah I've been there done that with spinning the eaton hard, 10lb lower/2.7 upper made 501/569 on my Lightning. The 4x4 is just gonna be stock boost, nothing crazy. Stock sized pulleys and a stock setup. I have all the parts, it's nice to know people lol, and being a machinist helps with anything I'll have to make/fabricate. But I have everything, just need to finish the Lightning before I start, so both arn't down at the same time.

I couldn't find a new one on the dealership and the ones in the junkyards are worse than mine .so I have welded two 1/4 plates to make it stronger. I really didn't want to do this mod but I may have to now. I bought an 01-04 lower intake to go with my new Whipple 2.9 but the back coolant pipe got broken in shipping. I can't find that pipe anywhere where it is sold as a stand alone piece.
wow that's really cool! Even if it makes no difference, though I'm sure it will, it's a super unique talking point. Noone else will have something just like yours, makes it different
Hey so first off I love the truck I think it’s dope all that good stuff. That being said, about the other truck, I actually have the world first and as far as I know 4x4 lightning ever because it has a lightning swap in it. It has a custom one off drive shaft and a couple man made crossmembers. I just wanna say I think it’s badass that your doing it too. It’ll be a piss rocket when your done. I was gonna make mine a prerunner but never got the whole suspension kit for it.
I can't wait to get that one started! Gotta finish the Lightning though, as of right now, 4x4 is both me and the wife's daily lol, since her car got totaled, it's the lone warrior lol 🤘
