Car and truck prices have been outrageous lately, but the Maverick felt like a breath of fresh air. I ordered a Lariat in October, and I'll have it by the end of the year. I enjoyed this review. You touched on everything good and bad from bumper to bumper honestly, clearly, and concisely. Thanks again!
@@theforruner117 I ordered a 4wd XL around Christmas time. I was told 3-4 months. Ford sent me an order confirmation email and said they'd send updates every 45 days. As long as I get it by next fall I'm ok with waiting. I'm driving my two winter beaters this winter and have a '23 Camaro for the summer.
I am happy with my 2024 XL Maverick. It has the Ecoboost engine and is averaging between 28 and 29 miles per gallon. I don't need all the extra's many people seem to want. My truck has cruise, trailer hitch, full size spare, and a rubber bed mat. For about $25,000, I think I have a very good truck.
ALWAYS buy the tow package no matter WHAT vehicle you buy BECAUSE- Tow packages include additional cooling which comes in handy on a blistering hot day driving across the desert. !
I picked mine up on december 22. Hot pepper red, with tow and awd. I couldnt ask for anything more. I love this truck. So far ive been able to do anything my f150 was able to do with better gas mileage. It was only $28.3k as well.
Awesome video! I’ve been torn between the XLT and the Lariat. Keyless is a game changer for me! I have a keyless Lexus and a Jeep Wrangler and I loathe digging in my purse for my keys when driving my Jeep. Thanks so much for such an informative video! 😊
Love the review... I look forward to my Lariat with the Black Appearance package of course getting built and in my hands in the next several months (I hope).
I have about 1500 miles on mine now, didn't get the Lariet because I thought the same thing about the seats...have almost the same truck as you just no power rear window, loving it so far!
Went to my local dealership to buy a black AWD XLT but only had them in grey and light blue. But the salesman told me the only black Maverick they had on the lot was a lariat with the tremor package fully loaded for $40k. And since they didn’t mark over sticker and I had the A plan I decided to make the commitment. Was a lot more truck than I wanted but I’m extremely happy with my purchase! Plus the gold tremor trim on the grill and wheels makes the black maverick look more aggressive compared to all the others 😁
Exactly the same truck I'm going to purchase once I sell my F-250 and my Travel Trailer. Question, is the front passenger seat a power seat? Wife says she has to have it.
@@587G no the front passenger seat is not power operated. You have to manually pull the bar underneath to adjust the seat. Only the driver seat is power operated
WOW, Ford Motor Co. should be using your video for a full review on a Maverick, very complete. The best one that I've watched thus far on this truck, nice job Sir.
Hi, I live a little northwest of Toronto, I have a 2023 Maverick Lariat like your's but Alto Blue, no BAP. I switched from a 2012 manual Focus (I still have it). I have had no issues with my sync system. Yes the XLT may be a better deal but like you I will be driving the Maverick for 10+ years so for me the Lariat is worth the extra money. Great review.
I ordered a 2025 Hybrid 2 weeks ago. Now the waiting begins! I got the Lariat with a moonroof for my wife and the 4K Tow for a trailer we hope to get by next summer. I would have like to have seen both front seats being electric with driver 1 and 2 settings. I don't really care about the navigation, but it comes with it. Mine is coming in just over $41K! It has reassured me to see everyone that has liked their choice!
I bought my GMC Canyon last year, I really wanted the Maverick but they were all allocated at that point and I couldn't wait. I love the size and design of the Maverick. The Canyon is "fine" and I did get the Denali package which is great but the ride is very truck-like. But $40K is a tough sell for the Maverick...but it does look great, great job.
@@bobafatt2155 just coming back to this...sorry. I love my Canyon, we are actually looking at a Maverick (long story...good story but just long). I think the fit and finish is better in the GMC but it's definitely "a truck" as opposed to the Mav more car-like with truck features.
Got a 2024 on order (scheduled to be built 12/18) and that is one feature I was super pissed they did away with, the keypad on the door to get in the vehicle. Always thought that was a smart and convenient feature. Getting mine lariat, bap, new azure grey color and canNOT wait for it to come in! Nice thorough video
Nice video. Once you go high end with bells and whistles if you can afford it you never want to go back in the other direction. I like 3D cameras and hope they put them in the Maverick next year. I will be looking to replace one of my older vehicles next June.
I too have had my bluetooth drop a few times, but it's often only been for a couple seconds at a time. A couple of those times it's gone back to the radio, but I can't complain since my previous vehicle used to do the same thing from time to time. And yes, it's nice not having everything controlled by the touch screen.
On my 22 FX4 XLT LUX 4KTOW I have had radio problems freezing, dealer reprogramed once still happens sometimes but is much better no big deal. love the truck only have 9k. I keep my driving gloves in the cubby. I also love the heated seats and steering wheel never turn them off great if you have a bad back. Another thing I love and have never had before is the brake hold works great at lights...
I live in the metro Detroit area as well and I’ve never been pulled over for tints. I know some of my friends have years ago in certain cities but luckily they don’t mess with us. I’d be pissed if I couldn’t have tints.
I think that the Detroit area police departments should have more important things to be on the lookout for instead of pulling people over for tinted windows 😂😂. Seriously.
I bought an XLT, and my buddy got a Lariat. He specifically spends 95% of his time on the highway, so he wanted the adaptive cruise/lane assist. While I'm the opposite with 95% of my miles being city. I barely get to use regular cruise control. All in all, we are both happy. If anything, I'm curious if I would be happy with just an XL, I think I would be.
hey man wanted to let you know, in that cubby next to the screen, theres a 3d printed Phone mount that sits in there and it is absolutely awesome, perfect little mount for your phone, I use it to watch stuff on break at work alot.
Great review .I have a 2022 Lariat with all the bells and whistles. I even went for the sun roof. This truck is awesome.I agree that the auto start stop is a bit to get used to.Only thing I think I will change is the wheel a tire set up.The tire it came with are not the best for snow.
Great review! It seems every review I see talks about that little cubby next to the radio screen. No one knows what to do with it. What in the world was Ford thinking with that? lol
My buddy just bought a new escape with a 12' screen which coincidentally is the same size as the Mav screen with cubby, I assume they went with a 10' to get the truck out instead of sourcing more 12' screens. The cubby is just dumb haha
Great overview. Do you transport your kayak strapped in the bed or on a trailer? I'm actually able to transport my 11 1/2 ft kayak inside my Ford Flex with all seats down, but I'm looking at a small to midsize truck for my next vehicle and the Maverick is high on the list.
I've installed a roof rack for my kayaks but I've had three 10ft kayaks in the bed before. For a yak your length you would probably be fine using a hitch kayak extender
I have a 2017 Nissan Titan 4X4 with 90K+ miles. Though I love the truck, it's more utility than I needed. I appreciate this review as I am now considering trading it for a Maverick w8th the FX4 & max tow. Thanks for the fantastic review!
Thanks for the review ! Your phone/camera/etc., was constantly going in and out of focus....Hard to keep looking at it that way... Learned a lot from you, and I thank you again for that !
Fellow Michigander with a Maverick- the weather mats are an essential feature id say, super easy to wash off the winter salt grime, sand from the dunes or beaches, dirt from the trails etc. They just keep the floor pristine (after two years there’s zero wear for me) and they look great! I agree that a bedliner of some sort is a must if you plan on using the bed (which idk why you would buy the maverick if you weren’t going to use it). I found that the paint does scratch very easily
I used my Ford Points to get some all weather mats. Definitely not as nice as the Weather Techs I had in my ST but for $10 shipped I can't complain. Definitely a must have.
The black package also gives you black seats in place of the brown seats in the Lariat. $41k and Ford can't include a 25 dollar auto dimming rear view mirror with home link? Sad
That $30 seat cover is awesome. I think I spent $35 on mine, but I have a dog who is the sole occupant of the back seat, and small suitcases wedged behind the front seats. The under seat storage is the shizz! I own a 2022 Maverick EB-FWD XL.
Absolute best review I've seen. Guess I could be accused of confirmation bias as I have a Hot Pepper Red MY2024 Maverick Lariat EB 4K BAP Sunroof on Order (Lux/360Assist/SprayIn/AWD area all std for MY2024). So a near twin of yours that you reviewed. 😂
That is a great spec! I love my XLT AWD lux 4k 360 I show in my content from Park City, but your Lariat will be next level. Do some videos, I will sub!
I was going to go with a new maverick or a slightly used ranger and I just picked up a 2020 white ranger lariat with the black appearance package, tow package and fully loaded with only 8,300 miles for only 33,500! Used truck prices are finally starting to come down because dealers aren’t selling enough cars. That also goes for full size new trucks, prices are going to drop soon because no one is buying full size trucks with the outrageous prices.
O/K in my personal opinion, it's not a truck. It is a SUV. I like it, i would buy this SUV. Your Maverick looks amazing. From how i grew up, a pickup truck has an 8ft bed and is a single cab and I've had 3 of them 2 fords and a dodgey. Now in my senior years i would buy either the Maverick or the Honda Ridgeline. I do like the sport utility of these vehicles without the harsh ride of real pickup trucks and i no longer need an 8ft bed. Again i say that your Maverick looks amazing in hot chili red and the blacked edition. Just change out your rear roof light to the smokey one that is available from Amazon. 👍👍👍👍👍🍻 Oh yah ,great video.
Ford has always built a Great truck!. That's all I've ever bought. No that I'm older, I no longer tow. The EcoBoost is is powerful. The Maverick is actually an entry level truck. It could be an exit level truck as well.. Makes a great bug out vehicle too. I got the XL which now come with carpet. Unusual for Ford.
My only concern is where to put the dog. I was hoping one of the back seats lifted independently so I can add the kids booster seat and have the dog beside now I wouldn't have the SUV trunk space for the pup.
Great review the only thing I disagree with is it being a quick truck. It is a fast truck. It’s a a golf gti with a bed. I’ve smoked so many off the line in sport mode with the AWD. It’s a sleeper hot hatch killer. Maybe the lariat is a fatty 😂 I have an XLT. A big plus with this maverick and probably other Ford products is that you can do just about anything for free through the Ford app. You can remote start unlock the car, check mileage, check oil, etc..no subscription none sense.
I just got mine today (xlt with 2.0L AWD) and either the impression of quickness (how you feel it) is the slowest ever, or my Hyundai Tucson actually is faster. I heard they were peppy and without flooring it that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Give Blackwell Ford in Plymouth a call. I didn't pay markup although I ordered mine. I'm seeing a lot more Mavs at the dealers now, the hype has gone down a lot now that these trucks have been out for a few years.
I was excited to see a truck under $22k when these first came out. But now configurations innthe higher trim was closing in on $40k+... that puts me out.. yes i know a bare bones is around $29k if you can even find one
Seems pricey to me. Got a brand new (6 years ago) 2017 F150 3.5L Ecoboost 4x4 Sport Off-road with super-cab that hauls more and fits more for thousands of dollars less. Looks like a great truck - but seems about $10K overpriced.
Car thieves know when they see a Ford with a keypad that there is a good chance to find a key/fob inside. With a window breaker they are inside in 5 seconds and look in the console/glovebox/under front seats and are gone in 15 seconds. Stupid thing to do.
Yes, of course. Never lock your keys in the car. Thieves will find them. But… the keyless entry is a great feature. I just turned my ‘07 Explorer for a ‘24 Lariat & I miss that feature.
I'd pay a max of 24K for that model. Hopefully next year when the entire auto industry melts down, these will be affordable. At 40K the Tacoma is a much better value IMO.
I looked into Tacomas, it's definitely more truck for your money. I figured since I bought the Mav to move motorcycles around I'd go with something more comfortable on the street.
In my area I don’t tend to see new Tacomas for under about 38k for the 2 door. Want a 4 door? 40-42. Want extras? Pushing 45-55k. It’s absurd as hell. It’s not as dumb as a 40k Maverick, but if people will pay it the predators will charge it.
What’s the point of the cruise control then? You said it to your desired speed. YOUR DESIRED SPEED. not the person in front. I hate it. I turn it off immediately when I hit the highway. I’ll be passing that person in front of me., without deactivating the cruise control let off the gas and go back to the desired speed that I chosen not the persons I just passed
