Not surprised a Berkshire Hathaway dealership dropped the ball, way to support a family owned and operated dealership! I’m with another local family owned and operated group in the valley and it’s great being with a dealer that cares about their people and their clients.

I would love to have this little truck, I really love the idea of the Hybrid Puckup truck. Even Front wheel drive is fine with good winter tires in snow and over 40 mpg!

I ordered a Maverick XLT hybrid in August. The only option I got was Co-pilot 360. It was delivered in Dec.. The dealership was great. I paid MSRP no hassles and 0% financing. I absolutely love the truck. I'm getting 48.3 miles per gal on this tank.

I just got mine today an XLT Hybrid and driving it home was amazing 😍 waiting was well worth it!

Wow he has his already, I ordered my XLT hibird + luxury package July 1st and am scheduled for January 31 build date . And I got burned trying to stretch my Subaru legacy 200,000 mi. And it didn't make it and cost me $5,000 from my down payment money on a beater to get me through till my mav. Comes in. So I am hanging in there waiting🙏 praying my beater keeps going till Ford finally delivers .

I ordered mine June 26 and still don't have a build date. You bought almost exactly what I ordered. Base truck, trailer hitch and full size spare. Nothing else. I wanted a bare bones truck. Now I Ford would get mine in the build queue.

I also ordered a Maverick from Sanderson Ford , no markup. I live in hawaii, dealer here has a $4,900 markup.

I'm excited for you. By chance I drove by my local dealership and they had a few hybrid Mavericks there. I test drove one and I loved it. I definitely want one. Unfortunately they were all white color.

All OEM makers should sell, deliver and service direct.

The Ford Maverick is what the Ranger should have been, a residential-class pickup truck. I would love to see an AWD hybrid option. I think that would be a top seller.

I gave up and got a 21 Escape Hybrid from the same dealer on Black Friday. Right after that I got a notice mine would be built on the 14th. It arrived on the 28th and is still sitting at the dealer that didn't pick you up. Turns out it's Toyota under the hood and very pleased. Got 3000 on it with an average of 45 mpg mixed mileage.

Gear recap and summary of your experience! Thank you. I ordered my XLT Hybrid June 11th and the build was just completed. Waiting on dealership delivery early next month. I had similar experiences in all you said.

I ordered my xl hybrid in June of last year and as of yet I have no build date. I even talked to ford on the phone they had no info on my build and that I just had to wait till I get my email from Ford when my truck was going into production. There are rumors that the next set of build dates might start going out in March but I'm not holding my breath. Till then I'm on foot as the say.

I had the same experience, I ordered mine XL Hybrid Area 51 on June 28. I contacted the dealer on June 29 and finally got my order number on July 1st. I finally got mine a week ago.

you are right! i got screwed 3 times with the same ford dealer in chicago, they never contact me i had to contact them, they were stalling. finally got my money back, now i need to find a competent dealer. they were idiots!

Congratulations on getting your Maverick Hybrid delivered. I haven't received anything other than my confirmation email on my order, but I ordered at the end of September. Can't wait to see the full review and I changed my color from Cactus Gray to Area 51 and it was very smoothly handled.

My XL Velocity Blue hybrid with no options was built on 12/1. Shipped on 12/3. Scheduled for delivery on 12/28-1/4. Bumped to 1/6-1/10. Bumped again to 1/22 and still waiting. My truck has been sitting in Wilmington, DE since 12/30.

Congrats on the new truck it looks great. I hope someday the ordering process will be much easier and not handled by dealers.

Sam, thank you for all the great video you share with us espicially this one. When you mentioned that costumers are suppost to receive a confirmation from Ford I immediately started to panic because I never received an email from Ford. I contacted the dealer I reserved the maverick with and I'll keep it short by just saying I got screwed. They took my $1000 for the reservation and they never made a proper oder for me. Then they tell me not to worry because they have me first in line for reservations coming this summer! Needless to say I demanded my money back. Thanks for NOTHING Galpin Ford! Thank you Sam for keeping us informed.

My experience has been very similar. Unfortunately I ordered in July and my truck still hasn’t been built yet. Was scheduled to get built last week but got delayed. Currently has a build week of March 7th Fingers crossed that it comes in like I ordered and everything goes smoothly with the dealership like it did for you.

Congratulations on your truck! Sept 13 hybrid xlt order, not scheduled for build yet. Best guess is April 2022 delivery but honestly that might be optimistic!

So I just bought a Model S. Honestly it is nice to just show up and unlock your new car and leave. Yes that is very different and it seems like it cheapens the experience. However I enjoy the subtle experience in an otherwise stressful day.

Tons of Ford dealers don't respond to Any Maverick or Bronco builds. I had to physically go to the showroom, and demand to speak to a new car manager. And then forced them to put in the order before I left.....

I just purchased a new Bronco Sport Badlands with the 1.5 3cyl motor, but that was after talking to an engineer at Ford. I had concerns about that motor, so I went to the top at Ford(so to speak) before my purchase. Best Wishes and Cheers!

I ordered June 26, took delivery January 3rd of my Lariat Hybrid & I love my Maverick! My experience was similar to yours except when I got my build week email in August, I wasn't bumped that date held..But it was crickets from 8/5 to December 17, built email, December 19, shipped! Oh and I also got the free fits accessory email..Congratulations on taking delivery I hope you love it

Glad you received your xl. Mine won't get here until around May. Like to see if I can mount some baby Noon caps to the standard rim. I have 2003 Taurus 16inch rims and am thinking about putting a better snow handling tire on them for the Maverick. The Maverick and Taurus have the same bolt pattern 5x4.5inch and offset is near identical around Mav @+3.7mmvs Taurus @+4.3mm. Be nice to see what you might do about rims and tires.

As a former Phoenician, I'm not surprised that Camelback Ford never got back to you. A friend waited months for his AZ permanent tags on his new Fusion from them. Congratulations on your cool new Maverick 😎

I love your videos, and I agree with all you said, I ordered my hybrid on July 6th and got the same email you did about the Fit system but still haven’t gotten the build date email.

Four “ adjustments “ to the delivery time have made the order tracking page irrelevant. According to the dealership, it’s been sitting at a rail yard 80 miles away. Excited about the Maverick. Big thumbs down for lack of communication from Ford. Congrats again and nice reporting! Enjoy!

That was a great review of how difficult it is to get a maverick hybrid and you are one of the lucky ones . And there are people like me number 3 at my dealer ship and they have yet to get a single retail allocation 🖓 🤔 not the dealer ship they are Good People it's the rep . So please keep up the good and honest reviews 👍🤗

Cannot wait to get my hybrid, it’s currently on a train to Billings, MT. Then from there my dealer here in Lander, WY will have to go pick It up and truck it down. This truck will be a great addition to our vehicle lineup.

Great video. Glad you got your truck! I'm still obsessively checking for those Thursday emails in hopes that my mid-July hybrid order will finally get scheduled. It's a Lariat Lux, so they're not scheduling as many of those each week as they are lower trims. Maybe some day! :-)

I also ordered the end of June, a Lariat Hybrid. Never heard from Ford, and not much from the dealership (not real happy with them). Just before Christmas got a call to say they had a Maverick if I wanted to see it in person. Went and checked it out, told the salesman if it had not be scheduled, I wanted to change color. Salesman called me back said no, I had been scheduled. Have not heard back, I figure it will be here next week when I'm in Jamaica,

Thanks for the honest review of the buying process. Hopefully Ford Execs are watching this video. I have been a loyal Ford, Mercury, Lincoln customer for 5 decades. I bought a year one Escape when it was first introduced. Not a problem. Ford’s inability to communicate openly and honestly with its customers needs improvement, and improvement quickly.

True. I ordered from a dealer who could eSign all documents so that I could make the purchase ahead of time then just go pick up my Maverick. Hate the idea of going in person and them potentially trying to keep you in some back office finance room for an hour.

Meanwhile I ordered my Hybrid XLT on JULY 1st and I’m still unscheduled. Best case scenario right now is an early April delivery, which would be 9 months of waiting…. My birthday is in April too so it would be a nice present 😅

Pull out the drawings from year 2000 model vehicles that were simple. No chip required. Start production on basic vehicle without the computers. Stock prices would soar. Simple.

All very well said regarding the ordering process, specially with regards to the direct ordering recommendation to Ford same as TSLA! And, congrats on the delivery of your new Hybrid truck!!! Everyone's saying they love the vehicle and so I can't wait to get rid of my 2020 Toyota Tacoma! I ordered the Hybrid XLT by late October, though it's still unscheduled. Sorry to bother you, but would you mind, when you have a chance, to measure of the grip (at the top & bulge) of your steering wheel? I plan to install a leather wrap on it (when it arrives...!!) Not sure why you think a $499 doc fee is reasonable. I paid msrp + $85 doc fee for my Mav.

Wow great video! I completely agree with everything you said about the buying experience and how things could be better. I don't know how Tesla gets around the automobile dealers association and lets consumers buy direct. But that's what Ford would be up against I think.

Very good point about going to an order and buy, eliminating incompetent and greedy middle men, probably not going to happen though. One good thing about not being able to order any Maverick right now for the consumer is, we can actually see how good or bad the quality is on them. Ford all ready recalled some due to fuel tank issues. Now if Toyota could produce a fuel efficient compact truck in the same price range as the Maverick base, how many people would buy those instead?

Yeah have to be careful with those additional fees. Some dealerships are adding on crap and saying that the deal you had didn’t include them. It’s a contract. If you have it in writing you should get it for what the price is on that contract. Call ford directly like some have done. Most honor the deal. I’m glad you got yours already. My XLT has a build date of Feb 6th I believe. Can’t wait 😛

I have an order from 10/7 and I don’t have a build date yet. They are already scheduling at the end of March.

Talked to several dealers in the metro Atlanta area about ordering the Maverick. They either were doing market adjustments of 4/5K or doing dealer add ons. Found a dealer in rural GA, MSRP with $100 deposit and ordered it 10/15/21. To this day I haven't gotten a confirmation email from Ford. Did call Ford customer service and my order is in. Who knows when I will take delivery, late summer? Looking forward to your upcoming videos

I absolutely hate the thought of going to a franchised auto dealer! We would like to consider replacing our Ford CMax PHEV with an Escape PHEV, but I don't want to have to go through that. We already own one Tesla Model 3 and we are not ready to give up gasoline completely.

Nice truck. My neighbor picked one up at a dealer. Sadly at $5k over MSRP. He needed a car since his was totaled in an accident.

We absolutely have to get rid of all these dealerships. They don't serve a purpose other than aggravation and price hike

My Maverick Hybrid was built back in October, still waiting for delivery to my dealer. The estimated delivery is this week....we will see. Ordered June 14, approaching 7 months since ordered.

Who was the salesman you worked with?

I put in an order for the ecoboost at my local dealer and didn't get my ford verification email until almost 2 days later. I was told by the dealer that it would take about 5-6 months. Now 1 and a half months later our dealer reached out to everyone that ordered a Maverick to tell us our trucks are going to be delayed, they stated that Ford did not give them any build allocation for any of our orders all the way through March. I've also been hinted at that my truck may take longer because I opted for the sunroof.

Interesting report, Sam - thank you. FYI I ordered a 2021 F150 and my experience was just like yours: multiple issues delaying production but no communication with customers (and not even dealers). For all its strengths, Ford has some glaring weaknesses: IMO customer communication and IT expertise seem at the top of the list. As Ford shifts to more emphasis on factory orders and away from flooding dealer lots, they will need to strengthen their comms practices. And thanks for the report on Sanderson. I'm up in Prescott with one very clueless Ford dealer, so I'll be buying (Mach-E I think...) down in the valley. Good to hear the positive report; can you share your salesman's name?

I hate paying msrp. Thats why i hate that they want you to order it. I dought they will let you negotiate at all. Just fork over the money while the price keeps going up.

Thank you for your knowledge. We ordered our Lariat hybrid the first of November. We walked into the dealership (Scottsdale Chapman Ford) and the salesman told us “we were going to do the build ourselves”. He put us in front of their computer, we did what he asked, and he came back with our printout and price. We signed papers, put down the deposit, and left. A week later they called us and informed us that WE needed to get on our computer and “do the build”.What happened? This caused even more delay…so we’re waiting.

I ordered mine about same time as you did, still no production date. I am sure part of it is the dealer doesn't seem to be interested or up to speed. I got an email from Ford last week saying a new status update! It now says order confirmed! wtf. I got confirmation back in July 2021, so how is this new status? I am not in rush but as you stated the poor dealer and Ford communication is ridiculous. I have bought at least 6 cars from this dealer. My lease on my Leaf is up in October, maybe I will get the Hybrid by then?

I wonder how much the 2023 Maverick is going up for the XL and if they are going to upgrade the *info screen*!!

I will order mine when ordering opens up again. I would get an XL (I like the steel wheels) if I could get it with cruise control. Unfortunately I have to get an XLT to get that (bummer)!

The problem for Ford and all manufacturers is that many states have very strict dealer franchise laws. While it seems easy to criticize these, imagine that you have invested millions into a dealership and then the factory says you must price vehicles at x (where it is hard to make a profit given high overhead) or they try to bypass dealers all together. There must be a middle ground somewhere but laws are definitely involved and will have to change. Tesla is still not allowed to sell in TX, FYI.

How will you get through Winter without an electric rear window defroster?

Tesla has the best ordering, I believe in that. My dad and my brother told me how smooth it was. once i get my refund will order a Tesla too.

i hope in 2022 they make way more of these and start selling them at MSRP , not this over 10k msrp nonsense the dealerships are doing.

I'll be honest, 19k for a new truck these days is a rare deal! Hopefully Ford Focus on their customers more and get their shi together ;);)

I chose a bad dealer. I am a June 14th order and still no build date. But my dealer just told me last week they are marking up my custom order. Let’s just say it was a little mad and wasn’t having it.

So far my experience isn't that great! I ordered my XLT Hybrid mid August in Velocity Blue.. have heard Nothing from Ford on my Maverick..not one single E mail!!!.. I went to the dealership to make sure my order was confirmed.. he printed off a sheet from Ford saying it was approved for a build two days after I put my order in August 15th.. So probably won't get a build till March or April at this point....

Why would Ford delay production of the hybrid model? I'd guess, since they can only produce so many Mavericks, why not allocate production of the much more profitable Ecoboost models at first, which would likely be an easy upsell considering the high demand for all new cars and trucks. "It's just business," they'd say.

Sam you hit the nail RIGHT on the head:) Ford Corp is heading towards a Tesla ordering/sales model and the dealerships are heading towards oblivion. The REASON is the dealers, like you observed, are out to screw the buying public over with ADM’s, needless add on stuff and overpriced extended warranty programs. My dealer wanted $3,400.00 for a 6 year 100k Ford Premium Care Warranty but someone posted at The Maverick Truck Club that Flood Ford in RI Was a lot less AND They were. Same plan $1,110.00 minus my Ford Pass points, so they’ll survive the coming change in how we purchase vehicles and warranty programs. Dealers beware, we ALL have long memories and you dealers that jack up prices to screw people over, well there’s a new and empowered buying public and, as you found out Sam, we know the good dealers from the bad dealers!!! Also we picked up my Wife’s Maverick on Dec 23rd (ordered July 2nd) it’s an XLT AWD with the Luxury Package, Ford360, a Moon Roof and some other stuff in Hot Pepper Red and she LOVES It , she already put 700 miles on it and safely drove in one Maine snow storm too:) thank you Sam for letting me vent;) Happy New Year to you and your family too.

HOW MUCH DID THE DEALER CHARGE YOU?

$499 doc fee would have had me discussing $$ with them. The problem with direct order on line and bypassing a dealer is the dealer paid a ton in royalty fees. That I believe they should get money from, the sale of the vehicle and not doc fees and that made up BS. Doc fee is just adding extra cost to the vehicle. That's it.

Too bad dealers are price gouging the Maverick by adding 5-10k on the XL models.

I'm heavily considering a Maverick XLT AWD with every option I can stuff in it at $37,402 in Alto Blue, the only color worth having. Will mostly like order one in six months. Is six months from now the right time to order it for a 2023 model? I went to one dealer in Indianapolis last week to inquire about a Maverick and a 7-speed MT 2-door Bronco. I was literally ignored until I was about to leave and was able to finally talk to one guy (and he even seemed a bit annoyed when I asked to go inside from the cold to talk) and he informed me that it was a 1½-year wait for the Bronco and they were adding a $5K mark up to them, and about 6 months for a Maverick at sticker price. Does that sound about right? P.S.: Good for you if you're happy with the color, but personally, I think that the color you chose screams "base model". Sorta like when I used to see a base Ford Festiva in that powder blue or a Chevy Chevette in yellow. That being said, I've seen much worse color choices. 🙃
