I really wonder is the Mondeo any less boring to drive than a Vectra? Cuz Top Gear really despise all the Vauxhall/Opel's and the only excuse they have is cuz "its boring." The Vectra B especially looks better than all Mondeo versions during its time, and as far as reliability goes i see far more many Vectra's than Mondeo's being used daily still.
@@lucylocket4740 They also agreed that the Mark III was good to drive, however there’s one early review from Hammond where he talks about the interior being rather dull, and to be honest, I do agree.
@@meganoobbg3387 Clarkson is a ford fan boy. Even in this review he says its average but that it's saved by door bars and an airbag. The the cavalier which was still being sold at this time was a better car
This is an upload of a domestic VCR recording; the original broadcast would have been more stable (see the wobble on the text blocks), more detailed and with a better colour gamut. Analogue TV was really quite good; and far better than the MPEG artifacts on the highly compressed channels nowadays.
@@smorris12 yep CRT TVs and their analog signal was better than what we have today. The tv companies have been chasing the same quality we got back then with crt TVs now with LCD and OLED. I think they worked it out with current oled TVs
I probably drive one before Jeremy. Essex Police, being in Ford country and having Dunton just down the road were given two as test vehicles six months before it was officially launched. They were done up in Police livery, blue lights etc. On one occasion I was chasing a stolen car, that the driver was doing his utmost to get away. Up pavements and across junctions without stopping. He dumped the car and made off on foot through a pedestrian underpass. When I got back to the station, my Inspector only had concerns for the car. "It's not damaged is it? He asked. The Mondeo was due back in Ford's showroom the following morning for the official launch. We never saw them again. I suppose the six months gave them a,good opportunity to see how it ran being driven hard. We were given cars by Ford from time to time. Often the bonnets were sealed so the engine couldn't be seen or examined. Sometimes we were given special oils to top them up when required. We got the thief.
The Mondeo is my favourite car of all time. I've had 3, a mk3, a mk4 and I currently have a mk5 auto with the 2.0 ecoboost which is by far the best car I've ever driven.
@@cb9tuning glad to hear it's still going. Im a Vauxhall guy personally but I love seeing any old 80s/90s car still knocking about, think the 90s was the high point of cars for balance between simplicity/modern features.
