@@nebiyuasfaw985 It was a Tesla world. Now if you put any of the brands that are equivalent to a Tesla side by side, they will always come out on top. I drive a 2024 BMW i4 M50. The S can't compete. It lacks so many features that my M50 has. I can pull off 0-60 in 3.3 sec which is more than enough. I have an actual CAR and not a microwave with an iPad attached to it. I also have the support of BMW through my lease with all 3 years covered so 0 cost to me on maintenance. Oh, and they threw in 2 years of free charging at Electrify America, which I have one less than a mile away from my home. My charge from 44% to 80% took 15 minutes using the 350kw one. Also, I can buy the car after my lease. What a no-brainer! Right? And the bonus! BMW CEO is not a half-brained neo-nazi on ketamine spewing garbage every other day on social media.
We bought a Mach-e in April 2021 for my wife. She likes that is was similar to a “normal” car in that technology was intuitive. She was scared of only have a central screen. I think the Mach-e was a good starter EV, and she would be comfortable now moving to a Tesla.
It was exactly the same situation with me! We were choosing between the mach E and model Y, but it was just such a pain to deal with the Ford dealers and they are just trying to rip you off anywhere they can!
You are so right. I had the same issue at my local dealership. They jumped the price on the MSRP. Plus 225 Miles on a full charge how about no!!!! I got a Model Y. I'm very happy.
@@rk-xh5hodon’t forget about garbage window tint, pin stripes, nitrogen, and other crap that adds no value to the car, and then the finance department games. Tesla is no pressure, if you buy it you buy it, they aren’t going to chase you out the door.
I own a 2022 Mock-E GT Performance and absolutely love it. I have zero complaints as this car simply works. It's by far one of the best vehicles I have owned. I've driven the Tesla and do like it a lot. However, I am not a fan of the stripped-down simplicity of the no-nonsense driving experience. The Tesla is all about technology and very little towards raw, rough edge driving. The Tesla is a little too good that it's kinda bland once you get tired of jamming the pedal to the floor. It's like Honda motorcycles being so great that they built the fun out of the ride and experience. Those who know what I'm saying get it. Those who are obsessed with Tesla really do love their car, but personally, I find myself feeling a bit bored. Tesla is quickly becoming so common that nobody gets excited about seeing one in the wild. Tesla really is an amazing car, just not for me. For now, I'm happy with my Mock-E. Enjoy your day no matter what you drive.
it should be pointed out though that real world driving shows the range is about equal between the two with the Mach E getting a little bit more. Tesla is, uh, not super accurate with their EPA rating while Ford seems to be more conservative.
Mach E Select RWD to Model Y LR is not a fair drag race. Mach e Premium AWD is at 4.8 seconds just like the Model Y Long Range. As for ranges our Mach e regularly exceeds the EPA ranges and gets very similar ranges to our friends Model Y LR. Considering the Tesla Range scandal that the Ford exceeds range regularly is very postive. Also for day to day driving Tesla says to charge to only 80% whereas with the big buffer in the Mach e Ford says to charge to 90%. As for why we have the Mach e. Neither of us can stand the center screen and no dash screen on the Tesla. We also like that we can put down the windows, adjust the vents, or open the glovebox without using a screen. Also our overall build quality is way better than our friends 2023 Model Y.
Yes, absolutely. I have a Ford Focus Electric and it has great build quality and a logical combination of physical and onscreen controls along with an intuitive gauge cluster. I can't stand the model Y's minimalist interior. I think a car should have a gauge cluster in front of the driver and even a Heads Up Display on the windshield along with physical buttons for basic functions like adjusting volume and temperature control instead of having all controls in the center screen where you would need to take your eyes off the road to look at the center screen to adjust a basic control setting.
I drove the mustang last month. I drove a mustang Mach e GT and it was amazing. 360 view camera was fantastic. It was very fast, sequential tail lights, front camera and the interior is nice. It would have been nice to see the GT version.
Blue cruise is cool but... you can't call that self driving if it does not switch lanes by itself.. blue cruise is pretty much like Teslas Auto pilot.. the real self driving is tesla FSD.. it drove me from work to home and it switch lanes, slow down when traffic hit and exit the highway by itself. That's what you call self driving..
Loved my Mach e but traded in for a Tesla because charging was very inconvenient and unreliable when road tripping. Once NACS and access to superchargers is available to the Mach-e I’ll definitely consider the Mach e again.
Well but how about Tesla quoted you the monthly payment and got pre approval and paid for 250, but ends up the real payment is much higher because you don’t get that APR they show before you put down the deposit! And guess what, no refund.
I have model y and just test drove Mache this weekend. Mache has MUCH better quality and much better and quite ride! So i would say, if u want technology, go with tesla, if u want a comfort ride and electric vehicle with normal car feeling, mache is a no brainer.
You guys are so much fun to watch plus very informative. The best thing about you guys is how you actually read and respond to comments. Keep the vids coming.
Okay, I don’t usually comment on videos however, after watching this video as a Mach E owner… there are so many things in this you got incorrect. You were comparing the rear drive to an AWD Tesla, the app was not set up correctly, you didn’t use the auto parking feature correctly, the select does come with the powered hatch, and you also never included that the Mach E does come with a panoramic glass roof in the premium model.
Mismatch, all day. But The model Y is more comparable to the Ford Mach E Premium. This should have been compared to the Tesla model 3 not Y excluding the words SUV. Tesla still would have won,but lets be fair. The Ford Select is the bottom line model of the Mach E lines. You have the bottom line of the Mach E lines going up against High Mid level Model Y. No need to move the goalposts, we are already winning the game. Model Y 4 life.
Next time compare the California route 1 variant vs your long range Y they are both around 4.8 secs 0-60 then you will see performance is almost the same. I recently got a Lyft driver who had a Mach e and he floored it that was nice but definitely not as smooth as a model y. I like the design and interior of the mach e but the reliability and build is not on the same level as the Tesla Model Y. They have had the Y out for many years now so working out any issues has been either rectified or not but it’s gotten better. If I was to buy EV definitely would be the model Y. Discounts are really good nowadays with the tax credit on top of that
Another good video! A couple of things: The ID.4 does not require a push to start; you’d mentioned that all other manufacturers require that. (There is a button which can be used for that, but I’d wager most do not use the button) The self-parking feature (as well as a couple of other features) is not available in the current version of Tesla Vision Enhanced Autopilot cars. (Though I got an update last night, I don’t think that changed.)
The ID4 feels like an incomplete product. The infotainment interface is horrible... is just bad. 5 months with the car and 4 months in the dealership for issues.
I'm not sure how old that website pricing is, but every last one of the Mach E at my local dealership are $72k plus MSRP on the window sticker. That's before the extra $1,000 market adjustment and various other garbage the dealer is trying to add on. Unless you're just a Ford fanboy, there is absolutely ZERO reason to buy a Mach-E compared to its competition. they are not competitive at all.
One thing that some people can overlook but others can't is that the Tesla is a very ugly car. It's really, really bad. Model S looks good but the rest are just no. I'd rather have the Mach E for that reason. But, I'd take a Model S over the Mercedes. I'm not sure if I'd take it over the BMW I4 or not. I'd have to compare.
Great video. I've been watching all of your recent videos as my wife and I decide on our new car. We decided to go with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 over the MYLR. Ventilated seats, physical buttons, HUD, and no Musk were big factors. Appreciate your videos!
No other EV has the performance + charging network + self-driving capability + low prices that Tesla does. There really is no reason to get any other EV other than a Tesla.
I love watching Tesla stans do comparisons with the Mustang Mach-E….usually they’re a bunch of hilarious haters. However This guy actually gives a fair comparison…good job bro. I love my Mach-E and wouldn’t trade it for anything!!
Only an idiot would be buying an EV new today. I got a mach e four-wheel drive premium with 4,000 miles on it for just a little over $30,000. Since I drive like an adult and not like some dumbass kid I get about 320 miles of range out of it. Probably the best bang for buck there is right now. A lot depends on if you want the interior feel of a nice car or you want a really basic interior where everything, even the air vents, are electronically controlled via the touchscreen. I prefer more of a normal car feel. I drove a model 3 for 4 months for work and it's very nice but i never liked every single thing being controlled on the screen. The 2 areas where I like the tesla are the supercharger network and camping mode. Supercharger i dont care much about since I charge at home and never travel with an EV, but camping mode is awesome and I wish every EV had it. So nice to be able to take a nap in your car or even sleep overnight in it with the climate controlled and everything else turned off. I used it a few times in the tesla to nap and once on a camping overnight trip about 45 min from my house out in the woods. Was great to sleep in cool 71 degrees car rather than in the hot summer night.
Dude, I bought one of those CNICK rings. Worst purchase ever. It only worked for a week. Customer service replaced it with the wrong color ring… then they wanted me to pay another 20 dollars to ship out the right color. When they finally agreed to ship out the right color at no extra charge, the package was lost and now they won’t even respond back to me. I went back to Amazon and they gave me my money back. Please don’t use their system as customer service definitely won’t have your back.
@@EverydayChris yeah appreciate it. I bought it as a backup since I typically don’t carry my keycard with me and there have been 2 occasions where my phone key wasn’t working properly, but I lost all confidence in a CNICK ring working for me in a pinch.
Good and useful comparison video, and great points! For the Mach-E size, I feel like it's in the middle of a Model 3 and a Model Y. But a recent subscriber, really enjoyed your videos (especially the vlogs, I binged all of them haha). Keep up the great work Chris and hope you get to that 60K mark soon!
I chose the Mach E. Drove both. The Tesla felt like I stepped inside a high tech fridge. The Mach E on the other hand felt like a high tech car and felt way more luxurious and better quality. The Teslas advantage is the charging network and the side view cameras but every other category for me the Mach E won easily. And the teslas glass roof on the inside was scorching while the Mach E’s wasn’t.
To whom it may concern for 2024 the Mach E got a new rear motor and is now full second faster than the 2023 model. I confirmed it with a 4.0 0-60 with a Mach E premium Extended range AWD model.
I test drove both, really liked the Ford, then test drove the MY, was convinced the Tesla was more practical for day to day driving. There are lots of stories about Tesla’s quality control, but I can say the new car I picked up last week is solid. Austin plant is doing a good job. And seems like the price of FSD has dropped from 15 to 12,000 USD. I might just try the “FSD Preview” to see if it works for me. Keep up the good work!
I'm not a fan of Tesla but I bought the Model Y because there's really no comparison for the price. It's an ok car but everything else was just too expensive to get the same features as the Tesla
Yeah, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard… I don’t like this car, but I bought one. I love my MY, best car I have owned. I had an Ioniq 5 that turned out to be a lemon so I got rid of it for the MY. The Tesla ownership experience is unmatched for sure.
@@Rpp92898 Yes, price cut plus getting the tax rebate again makes it cheaper than most out there. You may be able to get into a different brand cheaper for the bottom of the line, but once you start adding on to get the range and other features of the Model Y, you wind up with a higher price.
I ordered my Tesla and got the free/included black colour and now that my delivery date is closer they sent me an email saying I've been charged for the black colour and i looked at the website and they've changed the included colour to gray. I'm pretty upset right now because when i ordered it was included and they said that in my purchase. How can they just change that?
i drove my Friends Mach-E i truly had no issues with it ,i drove every Tesla he has as he has all 4 Models from my Personal Experience id choose his Neighbors PoleStar 2 i also got to Drive not hating on Tesla or Ford but i love the PoleStar to me it feels more like a Regular Car than the others next week im getting to Drive both Rivian R1t and a R1s can't wait
The 2023 is using a newer type of battery compared to the earlier models. The newer battery can be charged to 100% every time without adversely affecting it.
The ideal Tesla Front and rear cross traffic alert. birds eye view. FSD visualizations without having to purchase FSD. Some of us have a hard time parking haha
I'm actually considering a Tesla, but that it's a no brainer to buy a Tesla because of the range / price is a bit strange, why has anyone bought a V8er, or a big Mercedes, etc. they cost more and run less per liter than a small 1.0L Ford fiesta. Range does not equal what the car is worth, .
Chris, you would consider to setup your Apple Watch as the key which can be great content for many people here. It is way more convenient than the ring. Apple Watch rules in the future.
I just drove my Model Y from New Jersey to California and it was not a bad trip at all. The best part is that I did not need to look for charging stations. It was near perfection. However the build quality on the Model Y still sucks
I don't get why people say the build quality sucks. My Model S is 5 years old and the craftsmanship is right up there with the best Mercedes, Beamers and Audis. I've had all three. Obviously it's not as luxurious with its minimalist philosophy but it has quality parts that are made in America...most other brands including those luxury brands still have many parts of their cars put together in China.
That have automatic tail gate now. I get 300 range on my select. The Kia is irrelevant, bit misleading to even mention it to be honest. Dealership experience is all subjective. You're comparing oranges to apples when it comes to the trims with the long range. The clean vehicle credit has nothing to do with where the parts are made but where the final assembly takes place (mach e) was eligible at the time you made your video. You can set climate control before on a schedule as well. You really gotta do your research man. I have both. I had a hard time finishing even a third of the video because your take is just so obviously biased or your takes are just factually incorrect.
There was a great write up on this recently, the heat pump additional cost to the materials of the car vs the efficiency gain was like a 8 year ROI - changed my perspective on heat pumps in these cars.
I own a model y long range and it is appaling it has been back in 3 times for rattles and the last time Tesla told me that they do rattle, thanks Elon for building a sack of shit, I have ordered a Mach e GT from a car manufacturer and not a software house
The Tesla model Y is not perfect yet. When they refresh the Tesla model Y, like they did the Tesla model three, and into the “Highland“ that’s when the Tesla model Y will really be worth buying. At current there are too many missing features for me to even possibly to consider one. The only two things that Tesla really has going for it are the auto pilot system and the bland interior which they’ve been able to convince people “less is more”. The only Tesla, I’m comfortable in is the model X and because of those stupid doors and the high price of insurance I decided to buy a Cadillac Lyriq AWD Sport 3 instead.
Its funny I drove the id4 the Tesla and the mache but i didn't buy one until I drove the Ioniq 6. Different strokes!!! If I just wanted a daily commuter I would have purchased the Bolt EUV, hands down.
there are a ton of other reasons why i’d never buy another ford that go beyond just the face value comparison. regardless of how i feel about elon as a person i prefer tesla cars because they’re just better than anything else. i transitioned from a brand new ford edge to a model 3 & i’ll never go backwards.
I have owned a Tesla Model S for 8 yrs and will never buy another one. These reviewers never mention the horrible service experience from Tesla. Nearly impossible to get them to answer the phone and everything has to be done through the app. If you have an extra car and can wait 30-45 days for service, go for it. We have had a much better experience with our other vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, Honda).
How does the Tesla Y compare the Mach E GT version though??? So honestly, I have one and I do have to say I had no markup with my dealer. I factory ordered it at MSRP and no funny business. Same as the Bronco I recently ordered. So I guess it depends on the dealer, which isnt hard to find a new one this day and age. Good point about the tax credit though. Luckily I got mine a year ago before that disappeared. I think they can get half of that $7500 now, but new buyers double check. BTW, I do like Tesla and drove a roadster back in 2011 when I bought a brand new Chevy Volt (the DC Tesla rep had never driven the Volt and we swapped for 30 mins). Some of Elon Musk's politics do aggravate me though... Back the Mach E though, i went all out and got the GT Perf Edition and love its performance, Blue Cruise, as well as the Styling over the Tesla. But yeah they both have their own unique pros and cons.
@@redline3036 Neither. I factory ordered my car but before I did I had the dealer agree to MSRP through email/phone call. They accepted and I had it in 3 to 4 months. This is how I have bought several new cars from Ford (the other was the first year model Bronco that was on a waiting list), two BMWs, and a Chevy. All at MSRP, plus I got exactly what I wanted. Based on what I am reading on the forums, most other buyers that factory order are also getting MSRP with no haggling. If they say no, then copy and paste that email request to another, which I rarely have to do. As they say, good things comes to those that wait :).
haggling is a good thing haha. that's how you get a deal. I was just at Ford today. 0% financing over 60 and first 3 months you get some commie relief. It's a fire sale. The inside is much nicer too. Much more comfortable seats than cheap Tesla interior
The biggest issue I see with Ford EVs is their checkered history of starting and stopping their EV programs, while Tesla is continued commitment to continuous improvement.
Burying the headline. Apple play! Ford realizes that people want to use their phone for waze and entertainment. This is a great reason to but the Ford be rather than the Tesla.
I think people who prefer other EV cars because we love gas cars! We want EV for the technology not for the driving experience. After I tried that one pedal, I know Tesla is not for me. Also I don’t think Tesla is a car company, they put way less effort on car design, driving experience than the technology itself. They should sell their technology to car companies to make a perfect car.
That's Mach-E select. If you got a Mach-E GT, it'd have beat the Model Y in that drag race. If you'd have put the MY Performance against the Mach-E GT it should be close, but the Y should have it. You're comparing a base trim (Mach-E) to a mid-trim (MY LR), which is not apples-to-apples. Also, at least Ford doesn't default to your "projected savings" price on their website, which is just shady, and Tesla should quit doing that. Also, dealerships do suck. 100% agree.
@EverydayChris Good to know. Recently got delivery of my new Model Y LR a couple months ago, and I love it! I think I'm going to save my $2k though. It's plenty fast by default.
You might want to compare the Route one to your Model Y Long range. Speed, Distance, Glass roof, Tire size and rims, etc are all a lot closer than comparing a base model. I recently was looking at a Mach E in Souther California. 100% agree on hating the dealership process. I did find a place that was knocking 5000 off MSRP plus another 3000 from Ford in a rebate with 0% APR for 60 months. Those are things Tesla did not offer me. If I have a 56000 Dollar car and I get it down to 48000 with rebates and then you finance it for me at that rate. It's a lot cheaper than that Tesla Long Range. Gave me a lot to think about. I ended up getting neither because Fisker is finally going to delivery the OCEAN one I committed to 2 years ago . It's costs a ton more, but is faster, prettier and they are a pain in the butt to deal with as a compny , but they already have my money so it is what it is. Just my two cents from driving all the cars. I liked the way the Mach E drove. I didn't like the same things mentioned here.
Im sold on Tesla's torque an power....for the simple fact that SpaceX uses the SAME drive motor tech, to actuate the grid fins on Falcon9's 1st stage, and on the MASSIVE fins on the SuperHeavy Booster..that kind of power and precision is unmatched!!!!
Unfortunately your review is super biased towards Tesla. Almost feels like you are justifying your purchase of Y. As an example, you mentioned "most annoying thing" about opening frunk from screen but that is a major pro for mach e having a physical button for it.
