Ford PATS Key Programming Problem and Solution 

I had the identical problem on a 2007 Ford Exployer after PCM change. I spent many hours trying to program. Your video helped and I thought I would need a cluster. Found code P1260 locked into PCM. Did 10 minute security access again for the 20th time. Reset the unlimited key mode to disabled or turned it to off mode. Then did parameter reset. Did the key programming and the keys worked with security lamp indications just like yours and the vehicle started. I hope this helps you and others.

I have seen this same issue two times. The solution here is if it’s a ford use a Lincoln or Mazda key as one of your program keys and it fixes it. I personally took one of the chips out of the original key taped it to a Lincoln key that was used and it fixed it. The second time I saw this issue it was a Mazda. I used a ford key again (used) and it fixed it. I cannot explain why or what happens when you do this but it fixes it every time. I also saw this on an 08 Explorer I used an S stamped (used) Lincoln key and it permanently fixed the cluster and all keys programmed. Use the key as your second key in IDS programming procedure.

Hi! Have a question, how to remove the key's program? Can we change the system to a normal old school key, coz we got this second hand ford charger overseas from the USA, but sometimes this key just won't work, do you recommend to remove the program or to fix the key ?

I have a Ford Ranger 2015. I have one working key, the other was damaged by sea water. Took it to Dealership for new keys. They have been unable to program new keys. They now want to replace the BCM. Does this make sense? Should it be the PCM?

I have 04 f150 i only had one factory key took it my local locksmith to get a second key program. Every work fine when i left but after i turned it off it want start back up. Was told the error code was the anti theft wasnt letting them fuel pump come on. They had to reprogram the keys. But it keeps doing it. Any ideas of what might be going on

Have a similar issue on my 2011 F350. Let the batteries die and get really really low, hit lock/unlock while batteries were barely charged and exterior hazards started flashing repeatedly and got dimmer and dimmer. Then once I charged truck batteries up and try to start, no crank. Check PATS with Forscan and "Number of stored keys: 0" as well as B10D8 and B10DA. Thinking I might be dead in the water for gaining security access to reprogram my two original keys.

i swap pcm and the ring from one working escape to another, and I end it up with theft light on, any sugestion

I suspect I’m having trouble with my PATS, even though my 2007 Expy has been stripped down to a roller/camper (removed front end, powertrain, drivetrain, dash, seats, etc) that I plan to tow as a sleeper/camper. I decided to NOT rewire everything, since the fuses/relays in the BJB and SJB give me about 99% (still no SJB power to 5A “radio” fuse #28 for some reason) of what I want (window operation, lights, etc) with just a few jumpers. I hear the internal relays clicking on/off in the SJB which I assume is the PATS going haywire, but not sure how to disable. I may expose the PCB of the SJB and see if I can solder something to kill the annoying clicking sounds. Any pointers?

I bought a 2008 f250 at auction and I can only get it to program 1 key with Forscan. How many times can you program a key to the vehicle. Once I delete all keys it won't let me reprogram one again only new keys.

im in the same boat right now. Have an 09 focus. Keep getting the p1260 for theft detected vehicle immobilized. And a bcm or ic code for less than two keys stored. Transceiver is doing its job. Just got two new ford blank keys today to get away from aftermarket key. I noticed that if I do a parameter reset cluster will not come alive after; I thought I read somewhere that a successful parameter reset will end with cluster coming back to life from all dark.

How to remove the cylinder

so the small control for lock unlock the door, also do not work, I reinstall the pcu and the ring from the escape no working on the working, turn the engine the goes off(about 10 second), but the control works in this, so i was thinking all the code are store in the pcu, but I think this is not true

Hey man I have 04 f150 that is doing the same thing no crank I had a lock smith come out and he was thinking the key die he made me a key no crank I will name everything else I have put on it cluster a hole steering column with a key and pcm together off the same truck then lock smith come out same thing then went buy a transceiver had him to stop by and look it same thing so I have been out of anything to drive to work I need help bad

I took my 2011 mustang to get the 2011 premium cluster swapped into it. They said they knew how to do it but they were unable to program it. They had a bunch of problems getting the old one to work also but they called me and told me it back working. When I got there it was cranking but the dash said there is a security fault. I think they rigged it somehow just to get it to crank. I’m really freaking out about it because I don’t know what to do. I really want the premium cluster to work but if I can’t then I want it to be working like it was before that. They were using snap on. Can you fix it

If you mail the customer back their pcm, keys, and gauge cluster. Will the keys not be reset since they got disconnected?

Hi my name is Justin and I work at a service garage. We have a 2008 ford edge 3.5 L and one day the vehicle would not start and I looked into the problem and there was a code for transceiver not found and minimum number of keys not programmed. So I cleared the keys and tried to reset them but I am not able to do so. The back story is that the customer put the key in the wash and it threw the anti theft light on. I purchased a new oem ford key and PATS transceiver ring but still not able program keys. The theft light is solid when key is in the ignition and turned to run. I have tried to reset the perimeters and erase all keys and reprogram new keys the only key that flashes rapidly is the old washed key. Could it be the gauge cluster like described in the video. I have battery voltage going to the PATS transceiver.

Hey man? do you still do this? I am currently fighting with a 2002 f150 that IDS says it can not connect to the PATS module. I have swapped out the cluster, the PATS/remote box under the dash and the transceiver ring. I keep getting a 1-4 code on it. IDS takes about 30 seconds to time out.

I’m working on trying to program two smart keys to a 2015 escape for a used car lot. I’m getting a “programming fault” at the end of the 10 minute security period. I’m not in any need of software/tools….but I sure could use some knowledge on the testing of wires and control modules. Then being able to decipher what the readings mean. (It would also help if the vehicle was inside with some heat.) This particular vehicle is not getting a signal from the transponder ring, but the transponder ring does have continuity.

Im having the same issue with my 2014 mustang. I replaced the pcm and did a parameter reset before erasing and programming keys. But still the pats light is on constantly. Could not start the vehicle. The fds dtc shows minimum number of keys was not programmed. Will there be an issue if the new pcm is not programmed to the cars vin or is it the instrument cluster to accepting the keys ?

I’m having the same problem with my 2012 Ford Fusion I have two keys both open and close the doors manually and via remote. Anti theft light on car won’t start also mileage to empty blank.

I have a 2010 Rx8 that I am in the process of building and I tore the entire car apart and unplugged all the modules and am now having an issue where my key isnt being read due to the immobilizer. I am getting 2 codes; one for a CAN communication bus fault, stating a receive error and the other for a PATS transceiver error. With your experience, would you say that my key got unpaired from my immobilizer and thus causing my issue? Would it be as simple as calling a locksmith and have them re-pair my key to my car?

Sometimes my cars theft light will blink fast when i turn it over try to start but it wont start or crank. It happens randomly. Sometimes it start right up, sometimes it will happen but then eventfully start after multiple tries and sometimes wont start at all, even after a hour of trying. And this is my daily car. Please let me hear your thoughts. Ive been researching and looking things up for hours.Thank you

I’m having the same issue but didn’t have an issue with the old PCM and cluster. The cluster is out of a donar car and was installed without PMI but we were able to add 2 keys to identify the crank no start. Did not have the original cluster. Got a pre programmed PCM, did a parameter reset with one scanner, removed all keys and now unable to add keys. Tried a second scanner and now also unable to do a parameter reset. Tried the old pcm and still unable to add keys again to the cluster. Pats light stays solid. Any help?

I am working a 05 Lincoln town car. Key not programing after deleting keys, all keys lost. I deleted the key to reprogram original keys. Fob remote works. But the blade key wont start the car. I think its the PAST transceiver. 🤔🐒

There has to be a way to delete this completely and use a regular key,this whole antitheft bs is way too annoying and time consuming,im having issues with my f150 and im getting close to launching the chip on a bottle rocket.
