I have one here in UK - and it is great for such a small country. 2.2 Litre, Mid-Size does loads of towing and farm work. Max I can tow under law all up is 3500kg - 7700lbs. Ideal for me, fuel economy drops from say 25-30mpg - to 20-25mpg when max towing and she handles it like a champ. The heaviest thing I move is a small excavator - and an Ifor Williams trailer full of sheep. I see some of these things in the US with huge engines and sub 12miles per Gallon and I am a bit 😮😮

How about another tank on the right side of the bed for water for us overlanders for long camping excursions. And either get the performance tune from Roush or ford. They are basically the same curve. Really helps in the midrange and the extra torque helps the mpg.

I've got a '19 Ranger crew cab. I've towed from WY (near you/shop in IdahoFalls) to central Utah and back via SLC airport towing a trailer not unlike yours w/2 ATVs and a 3rd in the bed. MPG was just under 17 for the trip at plus or minus 70MPH. I agree the Ranger's tank is too small, but save for specific circumstance, fail to see the benefit the tank configuration you have when the tank can be filled faster at a gas station. Hard wiring the tank to the truck's tank and controlling gravity flow via a solenoid switch in the cab makes more sense. The aux tank needs to be thinner and mounted forward in the bed. Bed space is limited to begin with.

Yah. That’s not my experience. I’ve pulled this trailer w hat side by side in it now for two distance trips. The 2nd trip at 70 mpg and got 12.2.

@@FlexmarkOutdoors Don't have an answer as to the why of your lower mileage. Your economy does seem to be on the low side of what others seem to be getting. Don't know if you purchased at Broadway, but perhaps a ECU reflash might help. I do know Ford is constantly updating ECU software, usually minor things, without notifying customers.

@@Sig721Tau Not too worried about the need for a F-150 when towing less than half the rated tow weight. And it's not being lazy, it's called planning, topping off prior to an off-road trip. A couple of 5-gal cans strapped in the back for that occasional long off-road experience is a much more economical approach than $300. But whatever works for you, is fine. Just saying...

@@KenDavis-uo8kq Have just over 18K miles on the truck and I've never experienced any shudder that I was aware of. I have experienced a once-in-awhile "clunk" durning down shifts under certain light throttle application, typically when slowing down. That is the only drive train issues I've noted. I drive in "sport" mode ALL the time. MPG is very close to the same as driving in "Drive mode" but the truck seems more "lively." When towing, transmission response in sport mode is very close to drive mode with tow haul engaged, but I don't believe "sway control" is engaged when towing in sport mode.

That's not bad, price isn't bad either. Personally though, I would rather just have a few Jerry cans in the garage to throw in the truck bed whenever I'm about to tow something heavy. @jimjacobson4797 4 года назад
Of course you are aware you can get a longer 6' bed (I'd like one also) but then the rear "seat" is limited to storage and small children. I would have gotten the extended cab instead of the crew cab but the delimiter for me was the fact the rear "doors" only open 90 degrees instead of like the F-150s 170 degrees. I had an 4-door 2005 and hated the 90 degree rear doors. Think about shopping and parking with a vehicle next to you. It's almost impossible to get your stuff behind the front seat.

Sure but the F150 costs 50%++ more than the Ranger (when comparing like equipped packages). Take a Ranger or F150, make them both 4x4, Lariat, Crew Cab, and the F150 is around $20,000 more. The Ranger Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 MSRP starts around 40k, whereas the F150 is around 60k. Of course, you would haggle them down and not pay MSRP but the point remains the same, the F150 is much more expensive. Not to mention many people don't want such a huge truck that won't even fit in their garage, parking spaces down town, etc. And the F150 with the V6 can tow 7700 lbs, basically the same as the ranger, the 2.7L gets 8500 lbs so an extra 1k. Not that great. Now, if you go with the 3.5L, you can tow 13,200 which is impressive... It seems to me that if 7500 lbs isn't enough, and you need to upgrade to an F150, then only the larger engines on the F150 would be worth looking at (e.g. the 3.5L EB @ 13.2k lbs, or the 3.0L Power Stroke @ 11.5k lbs, or the V8 @ 11.6k lbs). Of course, as you said, you do get better gas mileage when towing with the larger engine but come on, how much are you really going to tow to justify spending $20,000 (or so) more? An example sticker on the F150, the entire fuel budget for a year at 19 MPG and $2.40/gal puts it at $1,900 per year in fuel cost. Even if the F150 towing mileage is 50% better, lets say you spend 50% more on fuel with the ranger, that'd be 2850 bucks, so a difference of 950 bucks per year. And that's if all 15,000 miles of the year are getting that 50% worse MPG (which they wouldn't). But even in those AMAZING circumstances for the F150, it would take 21 years to recoup the price difference. But of course, you'd never buy a Ranger to tow 100% of the time, it would probably be more like 20% of the time in best case scenarios so really it would take more like 100 years to recoup that price difference. Of course, that's not the only thing extra you get with the price difference, you get the bigger size as we already mentioned which may be a good thing but could just as easily be a bad thing. So in conclusion, they are just too different and not to be compared like this. If you want a huge truck and you want to tow all the time, yes, of course, get the F150 with the big engine. But for most people that do seldom towing and want something to fit in their garage and they don't want to pay 50% more, get the Ranger. It just depends on what you need.

No Sir! Explain to me how that's BETTER than a gas station for ease of use or more convenient than a Jerry Can for versatility. No Sir. Not in my Ranger.

For a mid-sized truck 18 gallons is enough. If you are sucking 10 miles to gallon pulling a toy truck then you need a bigger truck. Look at your bed, that’s a lot of explosive material riding by your head. I can see mounting tank on trailer but not in bed. Look at mid 80’s GMC trucks, they blew up when struck from the side because the gas tank was covered by sheet metal only. This is a rolling lawsuit waiting to happen. Like the truck.

Go back and research the so called GM side saddle fuel tank issue, the news media got caught faking the test with little rocket motors hidden to spark the fuel.

The only advantage to this is off-roading. It’s completely pointless otherwise. If you have to stop and siphon gas from it into your fuel tank, why not just stop at a gas station?
@FlexmarkOutdoors
@FlexmarkOutdoors 3 года назад
A very wrong assertion since it’s only your opinion. Lots of other uses and that’s for each person to decide. You have decided that for you it’s good for off road use. Many other valid conclusions can be reached instead of your broad sweeping generalization.

@@FlexmarkOutdoors the whole point of your video was to claim the auxiliary tank helps solve the problem of having a small primary fuel tank. It clearly doesn’t. Like I said, how is it any better than just stopping at a normal gas station, since you have to stop anyway?
@FlexmarkOutdoors
@FlexmarkOutdoors 3 года назад
Saoirse lots of reasons. Including a fuel station may not be convenient. Maybe you just like having the 15 gallons no matter where you are or what the situation. You haul 4 wheelers and toys and need to fuel anyway. Again, lots of reasons.
@pgo2372

@@FlexmarkOutdoors Exactly like I said: OFF-ROADING. It’s pointless for solving the small fuel tank problem. The only real solution for that is a larger primary tank. I’m sure it hurts your feelings that I pointed out you’re wrong.

For those of us who like things nice and tidy. Plus....15 gallons is a heck of a lot more fuel.

Exactly. Committed to losing cargo space instead of buying a few gas cans and using a tie down or cargo keeper and being able to remove the cans when not in use. If you really were committed to "Cannonballing" you could always plumb a pump and fill line into a tee in the original tank fill line and replenish your tank as you drive

We are really enjoying he Titan sidekick. Now, now matter where I am or what I’m doing, I know I’ve got the fuel to be flexible? It’s not for everyone I’m sure.

@@FlexmarkOutdoors what's the purchase price and installation instructions?
@FlexmarkOutdoors
@FlexmarkOutdoors 4 года назад
Clemente I have another installation video on my channel you can check out. Or search Titan Sidekick installation and I’m sure it will come up. It was the only video on RU-vid that had the installation. I think with the discount code they gave me, the price as of earlier in January came out to $278. Something like that.
