On newer models the backup camera became mandated safety equipment (FMVSS 111), so Ford is required to fix it. On earlier models the backup camera was an option, so no federal requirement to recall - despite being the same part..
I guess they didn't hear about the Ford taurus. All of mine have the same issues since 2013. Upside down camera image and distorted image. Just recently bought the 2016 ford taurus sho and the camera is upside down 🤦🏾♂️.
outstanding video. i have ford edge with a bad rearview camera and the stealership has quoted me $859 to replace the camera. maybe your video has given me a basis to fight this outrageous charge.
can i disconnect fords back up cam to install the aftermarket dashcam, with 3 or 4 channel? i have 5% tint so too dark to mount inside the cabin plus its stopped working?
Yep... I turned down my volume in the intro! I read all the comments and listen to you guys, especially constructive criticism on how to make the videos better. I need to get a wireless mic now because I find myself yelling. And yes, I got a sponsor... what the hell! Can't believe it really.
Just picked mine up and specifically checked for the plus button that's zooms in on the reciever hitch. All is good for me! You definitely should take it to the dealer.
How is this a recall issue on 2020 models and not for all the other Explorers Edge Etc. that have crapped out over the last 10 years. My 2013 Edge has 62,000 miles on it and the back up camera just gave up the ghost. They want $1100 to fix it. How is it not a safety issue on my car??
Same part, same safety issue, but the DOT rule that makes it a recall issue for newer vehicles (FMVSS 111 - Rear Visibility) does not apply to pre-2016 vehicles
