A guy i know bought a new at the time 2022 Mercedes suv, it kept braking hard by itself when driving, the dealer couldn't fix it, he was back 10 times with it, seperatly also it would lock the fuel filter cap and left him stranded a few times, the dealer ended up having to refund him the full price for return

I am an engineer and a driver. Three suggestions for the auto industry: less electronics, less plastic components in the engine bay and less car (they’ve all just gotten way too big). Design it as a nice looking tool instead of a status symbol. I was behind a Tesla Model X the other day. A single person in a huge battery-powered boat. Consumers in the US need a hard reset as well.

I work for a rental company supervising mechanics. All late model cars. We all despise Ford. Quality is getting worse and worse, we had to non-op the Escapes 5 TIMES for recalls for various things, including fires (fuel injector leaks, solution: make a drain hole!) Even their POS 4 cylinder turbo mustangs are awful, good power but you cannot even set to TDC without: removing AC compressor, using specialty tool 1 to lock pin in engine hole, specialty tool 2 to align crank sensor, and the dealer scantool. They are anti right-to-repair and are even spying on you in their new cars and selling your driving info to cops and insurance companies. DO NOT BUY A FORD.

From watching other videos from various RU-vidr and their comment sections, I'll going to stick with my pampered baby 2003 F-150 off road. My only wish is for an air ride seat so my back gets a gentler ride. It doesn't have the doo dads my 2006 Cad DTS has, but cruising down the road I don't notice the F150 is more "primitive". I've had similar problems trying to update the GPS maps in a relative's Fusion. System software update needs to be updated first, but it keeps going into a loop and freezes. It's frustrating, because there is no progress indicator to let you know if the update is installing, frozen, or fails to even start. This is especially bad since the engine has to be running throughout the entire update which supposedly takes an hour. Even the dealers go through this same procedure, wasting gasoline for no good reason. There should be no reason why the engine needs to be running, since the update shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, should work if the car is attached to a charger, and there should be a fail-safe to prevent corruption if the battery dies or any other error happens. As an ex-web developer, who has seen some really terrible software design, I can tell you that Ford's software is utter garbage.

Scotty, where would I send you a question about a 2016 Nissan rogue? 39,000 miles. Getting a humming sound at 40mph. Goes away at 45. Comes back at 70. Goes away at 75. Driving me crazy. Raised the car. No play in the tires. No vibrations. Tread wear is normal. Tires are about a little over a year old (Kellys). Spun the wheels with the car raised in neutral-spins smooth. Shook the wheels up and down, left and right-no play. Tried aggressive lane changing while the sound was on-no changes in the sound. Transmission fluid is changed every year regardless of mileage. Transfer case fluid is changed every year regardless of mileage. Engine oil Is changed twice a year. Can’t figure it out.

I have a 2012 Mustang. Bought new. Three times after doing a U turn the anti-skid kicks in and starts locking up the back brakes. No solution from Ford. Now at 70k miles the Advance Track computer has gone bad, bought a new one form Ford and it's bad also. Expected wait time from Ford to test the returned unit and get another is 12 weeks. Yep, no more new Fords for me.

Opel: I started with Opel, overall 4 In the moment I have an Astra H (the successor of the Astra G) and as "toy" car a 1994 Calibra V6. The Astra H has 105 PS, in the meantime 150,000 km All in all no problems as such, even though pretty neglected it is rusty on the bottom but it is still not rusted through. With care (rent a lift and catch the rust when it starts and cover it with wax or so) you should be able to easily halve the rust. Engine is still OK, gear as well, my idea is not too much throttle from the bottom but from time to time revving without much load more or less blows it free. On the Autobahn you notice that the longer you drive at high speeds, the more it literally "burns" free. Strange is that in the meantime the springs front and back broke, and last year it got pretty costly, with 17 years various stuff had accumolated that then HAD to be done. If these parts now hold for another 17 years, all is OK. I can only recommend that you sometimes look under the car (on a lift, it is worth the money for the rent), more or less in autumn to prepare for the winter, seal up everything, and in spring to get rid of the salt and where small damages occured that were hurt by the salt and treat them at once. As you are rather fresh, one tip: When you come into a situation where it almost went wrong (and we all have them), recapitulate all the factors that came together there and why it worked out, to understand how you can avoid that happening again. For me that awareness ENORMOUSLY helps me. Have fun.

There were forklifts where I worked that were supposed to be able to be radio guided down a few of the really close together shelves. One of them would turn into the shelves when you turned the signal on. My boss said drive it like we do on the wider rows with out the signal making it go straight down the row. I did but the pallet I was hauling kept bumping things sticking out on both sides. Not exactly the same problem but it reminded me of that.

Those sort of problems could occur with hydraulic power steering if the torsion bar was bent or damaged on assembly to vehicle. All gears were function checked before release to shipping. Issue with egears being made by suppliers Ford is no longer in full control of all product. E- power steering has been in vehicles over 20 years. Concept is sound. One issue however is that the various performance parameter changes allowed on vehicles today may be the issue. Now the main problem may shift to the controllers. Which Ford may not make. Supplier issues again. Ford needs to spend more time fmea processes within Ford and suppliers to stop such issues. I retired from steering 20 years ago. I now wonder if the have enough steering engineers. Ones got have enough people to stop GIGO errors ya know.
