My 2012 I got in 2019 with only 56,000 on her at at 85-90k miles she decided to eat the hub bearings and yes I checked my tie rods and lower ball joints…rock solid. right rear and the two months later the left front started to make a noise and then the right front started to make noise … The right rear is original knock on wood lol Love the Taurus!! Not saying it’s earth shattering perfect but it’s been reliable to me and for me. I hope to get 200k out of her
If you are experiencing this noise please get it repaired! My whole wheel fell off my Taurus while driving due to this very problem. Control arm broke as well as the axle and bracket that mounts it all to the frame I ignored the clunking noise for just a little too long and it costs me a bunch of money plus a major headache
After watching this video and the other for the sway bar links I think I might be getting closer to figuring out what’s making this noise when I go over rough roads or potholes. It sounds like a bag of quarters or a noisy bed. I’ve taken it to two Ford dealerships and they can’t diagnose the issue.
Hi Brett, good video. I still have a ball joint tool in my main toolbox. Haven't used it in years. We got a recall on our Hyundai on the antilock sensor. Going to schedule it here soon
Awesome suggestions. I've got the same thing with my 2010 SHO w/ 97k. I was going to replace just about everything under there but this gives me a solid direction to look at.
Thank you for the video. I lightly did the pry bar test on every joint on both sides and couldn’t find any play. But will feeling the links by hand I. Priced that I could pivot the drivers side one VERY easily. So I tore it down and once disconnected from the strut and sway bar. The bottom joint of the link had play. I changed both sides and the ride is quiet as can be. Amazing such a small issue could make so much noise
When I turn my 2018 SHO on it makes a rattling/knocking noise for a few seconds then stops. Sometimes it does it when it turns on sometimes it doesn’t.
YOU JUST DON'T CHANGE THE BUSHINGS YOU CHANGE THE WHOLE CONTROL ARM, THAT'S WHAT THAT IS CALLED THE CONTROLLER AND IT COMES WITH THE BALL JOINT INSTALLED AND YOU CAN FIND THEM ON ROCKAUTO DIRT CHEAP TRY TO ALWAYS GET THE MOOG BRAND.
I am very glad you put this video on I just bought a 2015 all wheel drive police Interceptor and for what I know it was built heavy duty , would I have the same problem ? 137,000.miles thank you.
My 22014 Taurus does a very similar thing. When I start driving, the clunk/rattling starts between speed 20mph and 35mph. It will be gone when the speed goes up, typically while it goes on the highway. The seller said they had the strut replaced but obviously it didn't help. Any thoughts, please? Thanks!
them sway bar links always wear out at the connection. you can't see it when disassembled. shitty design. wrap the threaded shaft at it's base with electrical tape to take up the slack. top and bottom ends.
I just bought a 2014 Taurus SEL and I noticed on the highway it does start to make a slight knocking sound when I'm driving past 50mpg. I'm still trying to figure out what it could be
My 2010 ford taurus sel awd 163,000kms on it. It makes a creaking noise when take off, sometimes makes the noise when driving and giving it gas. Any clues or tips please.
Hey I got a knocking Noise coming from the front. I replace the sway bar bushing, sway bars , control arm, ball joint on the left side also replace the two front struts. Wheel bearing on the front as well the inner and outer tie rod as well. It only happens when I’m going bumps more then 20 mph. But every time I move the car left and right while driving at low speed you could hear the Clunk noise coming the front. Can anyone help me??
It’s not that part it’s the inner ball joint /inner tie rod link had same issue that part is suppose to have play but the wheel movement is from the rod you took that off of I know it’s probably fixed by now just a little info on the subject
Control arm bushing looks cooked for sure, but if you're checking your seat bar links do it on the ground, in the air puts too much pressure on them and hard to find play
Any ideas why a 2015 Ford Taurus SHO (awd) would grind and squeak ONLY backing while turning. I replaced both front end cb axles and problem still persists. It’s a shop right now.
WHAT IS YOUR ISSUE I'M A MASTER MECHANIC FOR 30 YEARS AND IF YOU CAN JUST GIVE ME A SHORT OR SOMEWHAT SHORT EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT'S GOING ON WITH YOUR VEHICLE
I have a 2014 TAURUS SE and it makes terrible road noise and feels like vibration in the steering wheel and cabin. My guess is it’s either front wheel hubs or needs tire balancing. Wheel hubs are expensive per side!!
If it make the noise and vibration without pulling to one side or the other I'd say you're on the right track. There are a few good videos with tips and tricks to getting hub assemblies off. Not the cheapest but can get off rock Auto if you're ambitious enough!
I have a 2012 Ford Taurus just replaced the struts and sway bar links on both sides. Still making a noise when I go over bumps in the front. Any ideas?
thanks man i just replace my two front struts it is my daughters car 2011 SEL and have the same clubbing noise coming from the front end on both side she has this car for a couple years Somebody had told her that it was her Struts so I brought new ones Replaced and did not illuminate the problem so my next project will be looking at a tire rod end and sway bar link and maybe the control arm bushing
