Sorry to bother you mate, my van was running fine today then just cut out , i came across your video And checked my relay that was burnt out , so I’m going to order a new one any way, but you said it should still start with out yes ?, or have I read the comments wrong, as mines not starting with it plugged in or taken out, what else could it be mate ?, thank you in advance
Hello buddy, this only makes it more difficult to start when it's cold. This is not the reason your van isn't starting. This is just when it's really cold. Sorry I can't be more specific, but you have a different problem.
Being honest, 5-10 seconds isn't bad. Most diesels take a bit of cranking to get going? If it runs ok once started, you'll have to wait until it's cold outside to see if that makes a difference?
I checked the main stud that feeds the rail that goes down to the glow plugs. Have you checked the wire that feeds into the fuse box, it is actually a fuseable wire? If your voltages are low, it might be that?
@@philcross7315 The fuseable link seems fine going to look at the jump point as some corrosion on there this problem has been on my van for over 4 years just want to get to the bottom of it.
Nope, it's a very heavy connection, directly from the battery. It does have a heavy fuse in the wire I pointed out in the video. The live rail, is the series of links off the top of each glow plug. Disconnect them, and check each one for a short to the engine block (earth). That will give you an idea of which (if any are open circuit (blown), or shorted out.
Just tried this, i swapped the relay with ignition relat, ignition come on and still didnt start? Any other ideas? I havnt had chance to check the voltage but i will tomorrow
Bonne chance?

Hello buddy, sorry for the late reply. I replied last night, but for some reason it didn't post? Anyway, this fault only makes it a bit harder to start, it doesn't stop your van starting, unless maybe you're somewhere really cold? Even then, you should get white smoke, and a lumpy start. It's worth replacing anyway, but it's worth checking your filter, and leading the fuel system. My experience is, that if you've got a good battery, and it's cranking quickly enough, it will self bleed.
@@philcross7315 sorry for the long reply , I’m going to change the relay any way as it was burnt out. It was running fine yesterday, then just cut out on my drive , now it’s cranking over with plenty of power just not starting at all , do you have any more advice to help me try and resolve the problem, I’m going to plug it in to a computer later to see if codes come up , thanks again for your time mate , much appreciated
