On Monday, the UAW made a counteroffer to General Motors' Sept. 21 contract proposal and currently, Ford Motor Co. has laid out a record contract offer the UAW has yet to respond to.
Can't always get what you want. But, I think we have better leadership now. So far, it looks encouraging to me. The UAW & Ford, thru over 30 years, have allowed me to provide a decent middle class living for myself & my family. I worked long, hard honest days. I earned that living & I deserve the retirement I was promised. I think we might be made whole in this contract. I hope you're afforded a decent living, as well ✌️
Auto workers are at a -20% wage. Get it straight. COLA, raises, bonuses, pensions, etc were taking away from auto workers. Step up Big 3. Enough is enough!
Stand for 40% ,see how that works for you. 10% a year is a joke. One of the base salary offers was 82,000 a year. With overtime and other benefits would work out to be 150,000 a year. That's damn good. The uaw needs to just go away. Greedy as workers.
We gave up our annual bonus, some health benefits, & more to help the companies when they were in trouble. It was supposed to only be until things got better. That was 2007 or '9...they never made it up to us. So, yes, retirees have contributed to the company & until we're made whole, they're still using money that is rightfully ours.

Isn’t Ford Motor Company’s core business in the United States? They; and their UAW employees better reach an agreement soon; or else they’ll have a smaller market share of all the vehicles that they sell in the United States.
These union shop auto manufacturers have an exclusive provision that they cannot get rid of the unions under law. And under that provision only the Uaw can represent it's union members, exclusively ❤

Doesn’t sound like a bad deal. Remember, ford UAW workers got a $9,000 profit sharing bonus for 2022. GM got $12,750 and Stellantis got $14,760….. no one seems to talk about those wind falls…..

Just go with a direct sales model like Tesla and let the dealerships do maintenance (no sales). That will allow UAW wage increases with no impact to vehicle pricing.
Just a matter of time before Teslas subsidies and no dealership loopholes close. Then that company is in trouble. Those are the only two things keeping them in business. Either force Tesla into a dealership model or let everyone sell direct.
Truck prices have gone up since the pandemic and are refusing to lower the prices. Workers wages haven’t changed, the truck prices have… think about that.
The vehicle prices have gone up 100% in the last 20 years. Our wages have gone up 6% in that same time. You really think our wages is what’s raising the prices of vehicles?!
Ok. I see both sides, but UAW needs to be very careful or they will send more jobs out of the country. This is negotiation... you shoot high, they shoot low, and hopefully you land somwhere in between. I think this is a fair deal.
So the things we gave back so the companies could thrive don't matter to you? You only care about what you can get for yourself? You need to learn what a union is all about. You need to respect the people who made your jobs safer, the people who built the union, the people who gave up bonuses, some health benefits, & recognition for the last few contracts. We stuck out our back breaking jobs under horrible supervisors in 100° heat in summer (not even fans), because we were promised a pension. We certainly earned our pensions. So, when you laugh in our faces & tell us, "Hell No!", It says a lot more about you than it does about us.
@@Torq-wy2cr We didn't choose it. When the companies needed a bailout, the government required those things to be conceded before they could get the money. The companies promised to give them back when things got better.
I’m slightly confused. It says the average worker will earn 6 figures but their 4th year. So essentially if you’re already in year 2-3+…. You’ll be making 6 figures relatively soon. Correct? Is a 6 figure salary not enough? I’m confused. I wonder if that 6 figure # including their benefits? Or are they factoring in built in overtime? I doubt that’s their base pay. Cause UPS don’t even make 6 figures base.
We will not make 6 figures. The "%20 raise" they say they are offering is actually a %2.8 raise the first year a bonus payment in the second year a %2.8 the third year then a bonus payment in the 4th year. So we would get a %5.8 raise over teh 4 years of the contract.also they are including Profit sharing checks In that %20. Profit sharing isn't guaranteed. I am skilled trades I am the highest pay scale. if we got %20 raise I would be making 92 k a year.
Thanks for your breakdown. I knew that sounded off. I’m a union worker as well. Postal carrier, our contract been up since May. But I unfortunately since we can’t strike, the media don’t give a damn about us 🙄. It takes us 13.5 yrs to reach top pay. That’s not including the 2.5yrs you do as a temp.
@@Tommy-hy1obI assume they are talking the loaded rate of an employee too, not the actual hourly rate. To break 6 figures you would have to make over $48/hour. These companies always try and make it sound so great and use special ways of saying things to be deceptive. Like the, “they want a 40% raise”. A lot of people think that is a one time raise when in reality it’s over a period of years. When I turned 18 I asked for an 81% raise. Yep, got it. 3% yearly over the last 27 years!
Under fords newest proposal they are saying that the average new hire will make 6 figures a year by year 4. So that means you need to be making 48 dollars per hour to get that 100k a year.
Hey channel 7, let me help you with this. Let’s do some simple arithmetic we learned in grade school. 100,000/52= $1923.08/40= $48.08 per hr. When Ford comes to a top pay of that then they can claim that people with 4 year’s seniority can make a 6 figure income. It’s only a true 6 figures if they don’t have to kill their bodies to get it! I’m not saying there isn’t a fair wage I’m just stating the obvious, sometimes we are only given 1/2 truths!!
I wish I was still at Ford (tier1) I’ll take that deal. I when to Stellantis because it was closer for 2 dollars less Now I’m at Stellantis give us that deal with 30% . All of us tier1
The UAW backed me up when a supervisor was trying to fire me. She brought me in for a hearing for lack of productivity., even tho I did more than everybody & faster. She didn't realize I had printed out the actual numbers & time before the hearing. Normally, management doesn't allow the union to talk numbers. But, my local fought to allow my proof. The supervisor was outed & reprimanded. My record remained clean. The UAW is NOT a joke. The UAW saves jobs & keeps management as honest as possible. If you knew what you were talking about, you wouldn't have written that.

Unions create weak people with zero work ethic. Remember the union buyout 20 years ago ?? Those chumps took the buyout then thought they'd start a new career in construction, it didn't work out, turns out construction is hard work.
It’s not an actual 20% raise. It’s 2.8% in year 1 & 3. A “bonus” payment in year 2 & 4. And they are calculating an average profit share payment, which isn’t guaranteed, as part of the raise.
The UAW workers at Ford don't deserve a raise. Their build quality is the worst in the industry. Ford needs to clamp down on these lazy overpaid workers.
This is an old offer. Yes Ford has upgraded some things and Fain has dropped down to 36% wage increase all these guys are saying it’s 40%. Fain needs to propose a bit lower like to maybe 32% and dump the battery plant stuff. They won’t even be up and running for another three years. Also the 32 hour work week. I work 4 on 3 off 10 plus hours a day. I don’t even know why that’s in there. Pensions need an upgrade as well.
It’s in there because you are the minority and the majority of us work 6 days a week at the truck plants and it’s mandatory not voluntary. What plant are you working 4 10s at? Must be nice
Finance doesn't work like addition subtraction. Finance is about making stock holders happy. You make stock holders happy, your stock prices goes up, you get to borrow at lower rates. You make stock holders unhappy, stock price goes down, company borrows at higher rates. Profit margins decrease even further, stock price goes down even more, and it snowballs. A 2% profit today, turns into a 1% profit after the strike, turns into 0% profit after investors leave, turns into -1% profit when Ford needs to borrow at higher rates. which turns into bankruptcy because there is no actual cushion in the company coffers. So take the extra money from the new contract and buy Tesla stock, you'll need it. No more government bailouts.

It would be way more cost effective to replace the executive board. In fact I’ll tell you what. I’ll take the GM CEO job and do it for $5 million/year. No wait, I’ll do it for $1 million/year. That would be a savings of $28 million with just her replacement.
My grandma worked the line at chrysler in the 40s and 50s. She, my grandpa, and my mom lived in detroit, renting small apartments in old houses that had been split into flats. In the 60s, they finally saved enough money to buy a two bedroom house. You greedy strikers have no idea what real work is. The union first formed because people had no vacation days, no sick days, 6-7 day work weeks, suffered in dangerous conditions, and were fired for taking bathroom breaks! The pay increase you're demanding will make american made cars impossible for us regular people to afford. How are you going to get paid when the only cars your neighbors can buy are foreign?

I've been with FOMOCO since 1994, almost 30 years now. I've earned every nickel. Unless you've worked in an assembly plant when it's 90 degrees outside &110 in the plant you have no Idea. I've watched over the years what we have given up. It's not pretty. Cudos to those that come in now, I sure wouldn't do it. It use to be people wanting to work for the Big 3. Not anymore.
Lol all uaw sites are robotic. Imagine min wage was 7.85 now 15. I get why they want more pay inflation pain. Note min atm for uaw 30+ to 50+ hour. Some 17 usd but look at what they're doing for work old people having back surgery etc was there prior to robotic. Hence the pay difference. Ceo making millions is crap agreed however they salary non union. I say hello new hires let scabs have the job uaw needs wake ups.

Oh they are going to eventually give them a raise but I will bet the money they will close a few Plants because there has never been a Corporation of any kind that will let their workers dictate how they do business. I just hope these understand just what they have to lose.

These wages are out of control. Yes the ceo makes too much but making 6 figures for the line worker is crazy. People who have skills that are a lot harder to find don’t get that possibly ever. These workers are out of touch with what others make. If they get it the teachers should get 175k a year and see your taxes to the 100k go lower than it’s now. F them I’ve done my job for 20 yrs and spend hours each year advancing my skills and education to get that pay. A lot less people can do many of the jobs done today with qualifications and skills that take more than the 4 years to master and don’t touch 6 figures. Yea the job is physically hard standing but it’s not nearly as bad as it use to be with machine assisted movements and safety procedures. To say the offer isn’t fair is out of touch with pay and I won’t feel sorry when the jobs go away because it’s just too high for the skills it requires compared to most other jobs in the world.
1. These jobs are extremely physical, and >90% do NOT have machine assistance on the job. 2. It is NOT a fair offer, Ford in particular got a 3% raise every other year on last contract (so 2020, and 2022) but prior to that, the last wage increase was in 2007. Imagine going nearly 2 decades making the same wage, while inflation runs rampant. Saying that the employees are out of touch with pay just shows your lack of understanding to the situation. Also, while teachers are important, they don't absolutely DESTROY their bodies the way that auto-workers do. Most people I know in the 10-15 years of service mark have already had MULTIPLE back, wrist, shoulder, and neck surgeries.
UAW needs to accept Ford’s latest offer and end this stupid against Ford now. I think Jim Farley needs to retire now. UAW is hurting supply chains as well. Shawn has power to end strike against Ford. Shawn can do anything he wants to General Motors.
Take a offer that puts us at making less money then we did in 2019 ? We are fighting to get ahead not behind. So no lets not put a end to this till they make it right. 28% would put us about where we were in 2019 if they give us 15% upfront.
There is no reqson they cant agree to an 8 hour work week paid at 40hrs and a $10,000 weekly bonus if we show up for at least 4 of the 8 hours. The CEO makes millions but could never figure out how to put a lug nut on a wheel like i do!
