Finally able to play badminton again after a few years and just happened to come across this channel. The videos really are thorough, informative and very well made. Learning from two professional players makes the experience even better. One of the aspects I enjoy the most is that you guys perform the drills left and right handed which majority of other tutorials do not offer. Can’t wait to see the next vid ❤️.

This video is exactly what I do expect. Forehand clear is one of the most basic technique but mastering it takes years. Some beginners aren't patient enough to practice this skill, leading to the very slow progression. Aside from the placement, the height of clear shot is so important. Greg and Jenny, hope you can produce another video to instruct us the detailed technique of punch clear that lots of WS/XD players use and how to sharpen/simplify our clear technique. Thank you so much

I know some people who have been playing for 10 years & still use the panhandle grip to hit clears. It is so fun to punch clear to them. 🤣 Some beginners are also hindered by having purchased a racket that is not suitable for them. Racket is for advanced level players. This is even more evident when the beginner is not taking lessons.

Hi guys, this is again an awesome tutorial, perfectly timed, as I've always struggled with my clears reaching the back of the court. I always thought it was my racket, but that's a classic example of a workman blaming his tools 🤦🏻‍♂️, it's my technique that was wrong. I need to practice and perfect my clears as I have legaue matches coming up soon, which I need to prepare for 😱. Thanks again as always 👍

Great video. Your point about how badminton is perceived is well made - ask people about tennis and they'll think of the singles finals at Wimbledon, mention badminton and they'll think of that picture at 1:03. Oh, and a hint if you're practising throwing tennis balls - when you switch to your racquet don't let go, squeeze it! 🙂

its amazing how important timing is the other day i went to new badminton courts with different shuttles. And my timing was messed up and in the 1st few minutes my clear only went halfway, but within a few minutes of warm up i was able to clear the shuttle to the back with no problem p.s this may just be me but ans completely false, but i felt timing has a big part into the distance of the shuttle but maybe it becasue my racket can only generate power when i hit the sweet spot of the racket.

Great video. Technique is important. Friends tried to convince me to stop hitting punch clears. I was winning points. They only hit normal & high clears. They tried to convince me not to smash at their flat/high clears. So opponent may dictate what shots I play? 🤣 "Stop breaking the shuttles?" "Stop lifting & clearing to me!" 😁

How would you guys go about coaching a complete beginner, aged 9/10 to becoming proficient player. Is there a template or plan you would follow? eg Start building competence in the front court, drop retreivals and net play and then start building competence deeper in the court - Midcourt, finally focusing on the rear-court. Maybe you can do a video on how you would take this on.

You mention that we can’t get our clears to the back since we’re not able to create that extra whip without using rotation. Could you explain how we can get this whipping action correct? Much love from pakistan 🇵🇰 ❤

i'm wondering what it means to rotate the torso in the context of hips then torso then shoulders. Is it physically possible to do hips then shoulders without rotating the torso?

hey jenny and greg! I've been watching you guys for almost 7 months now and you guys have been a huge help in my badminton development. I've been playing badminton every since I was 4 but I just gave up the sport for almost 9 years, but now I've gotten back into it and have been more dedicated then ever. my goal is to become a national badminton player for korea and I'm the best player at my school here in the US and I've been doing well at some tournaments so can you make a video on how to become a national player? thank youuj!!

You talk about leading with the elbow in this video, i would like to see what it looks like if you don't. I don't think i do and i generate reasonable power but clearly not optimum? Is this a key area and how do i build this in if i have a habit of not doing it ? Actually at 3:15 you do!

Do you have any COUNTER-SHOT for the punch clear? Neutralization shot is the only thing I can think of when replying to a punch clear since it always force me to play the reply late and often on the back hand.
@BadmintonInsight
@BadmintonInsight Год назад
Yes a neutralising shot would be good, maybe a drop shot in front of them!
