I get chills when i hear this song ! 1977 is a longtime ago i was a 14 year old teenager full of angst and now im almost 60 but i remain a Star Rider !
Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you are stoned like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my gf lately xD
Man , this takes me back to the ' 70 ' s as I was a teenager and starting to rock out , foreigner was and still is a rocking band , long live Mick Jones !
I think that Foreigner is the talent of Mick for mélodies AND to find the good person at the good place. Not only a good voice or à good sax... but the voice and the sax and other making the goodest sound.
An amazing song. Although Kelly does a great job with the vocals. No one could ever compare to Lou Gram's vocals when he was healthy. I use to literally get goose bumps from the powerful highs me belted out on his vocals during this song! Thank you Foreigner and thank you Lou Gram, we miss you Lou and thank you Kelly also, you have an amazing voice and we certainly recognize your amazing talents and also powerful voice and the courage it takes to step into a legendary vocalist' s place and for both you and Lou to remain caring and respectful of each other. You have obviously put a ton of effort into taking Over for a man who has to be considered one of the best vocalists in Rock History, and you have been performing admirably and in time, a legend in your own right!
Ninguém quer se comparar a ninguém porque somos diferentes uns dos outros em diversos aspectos, e não nos igualamos a ninguém, o que se quer é apenas trabalhar.
my older brother purchased this LP when it came out in 1977. I was 11 years old. I fell in love with this song ( Star Rider) . I would call the radio station 5 times a day begging them to play it again.
I've read that they briefly considered releasing this as their 3rd single, but went with 'Long, Long Way From Home' instead ... * Truly an epic song from one of the best self titled debut LPs Ever!
I tell you what! any pickers in that crowd probably had their jaw on the floor after mick was done shredding up that gibson. SICK EM MICK!!! Bad ass solo. this whole band is incredibly tight. and is the best sounding live performance i have ever herd in my 46 years of music. Rock on gents and get your asses back to H town ASAP!!!!
When they played this at our outdoor concert, in Texas, it was EPIC!!! Watching the stars and feeling the pure powerful performance of this most brilliant tune was beyond words! Not to mention, I've loved this song since i was a kid! Mick Jones and Kelly Hanson nailed it!!!!
Starrider...Fool for anyway... Spellbinder...and...Do what you like...Four awesome Foreigner songs ...that never got the airplay...but are some of their finest!! Oh yeah...all before Foreigner 4!!🎸😎🎸
Lots of great statements below. But, for the record... as a teenager, even though the radio stations were playing all of the top 3 , 4 or 5 Foreigner tunes, this was always my favorite. Seen Foreigner a couple different times live and they never played this tune when I saw them in concert. OMG! ...this absolutely cranks! brings back so many great memories. Whew...
This song gives me goosebumps every single time I listen to it, which is daily. I will never get tired of it. Kelly Hansen is unbelievable. I've seen Foreigner six times and not once, have they disappointed...absolutely amazing performance by every member of the band....past and present!!!
Exactly Scott, without a doubt, it blows away their "radio hits". Starrider and my favorite At War With the World, are 2 of their most powerful, that were underrated IMHO.
This is my Favorite song by Foreigner! The best version I've ever heard by them! Going to see them on November 17th, 2023 in Bethlehem, PA on their Farwell tour. Hope Mick Rocks this one!!
My prayer is that he will be in the farewell tour October 2023 in Atlantic city New Jersey. I miss him so much I remember when he dedicate this song to his mom the last concert that I saw him with Kelly and foreigner.
Yes Yes Yes !!!! .... This is it !!!!!!!!! I have never listened to "Foreigner" music before, but now when I listen to their songs performed by Kelly Hansen ..... this is It !!!!! this language just kidnaps me !!!!! I love Foreigner and Kelly Hansen !!!!
Always time stopped when I would hear this song, and in an instant my shitty, small life was larger than life on this plane of existence. Music transcends space and time, and really, really good music certainly comes from God!!
I saw Foreigner for the 1st time in 1978! I'm so happy that this version is as good as the original! [ I am a little tired of the constant claims that drummers are stupid... I was a professional percussionist and a studio musician in the seventies. I was valid Victorian for 3 engineering degrees, including completing my graduate work at Stanford University! I left professional music to be a research engineer at a national laboratory.] It is wonderful to see the old guys still out there kicking butt! [Sammy, Bryan, Ted, Rik, et cetera] This old guy still prefers the Les Paul, and I do as well!
Love this tune, I remember getting the first Foreigner album for my 10th birthday. I was only familiar with "Cold As Ice" when I got the album, but this track became my favorite the first time I heard it and remains so today. "Feels Like The First Time" and Long Long Way From Home" are great as well...
My favorite by far ! But what makes this version the very best for me is Brian Tichy on the drums , Man does his playing bring it to life !! Amazing song !
I've been at their concert in 1977. This one is great and sounds the same again. Thank you! The only problem on this video is the audience. 1977 the crowed was much much better!
415 views, this is one of the most killer songs ever. i feel like im in the top 500 most awesome people club. these are celestial ways. your soul is the star, be a star rider.
Just seen these guys live the other night in Charlotte 5th row center and they played this song that I haven't heard in a long time and realized that it was one of my favorites back in the day and it sounded So Good. Thanks for posting this clip!
Steve Richards include the drummer Brian Tichy.. he may not be as popular or as technically renowned like Jeff Porcaro/Phillip Wilson of Toto or Alex Van Halen of Van Halen or Kieth Carloch but he definitely nailed this one.. that rapid base kicks left a deep impression in the listener's thoughts which will surely linger for quite sometime.. well done Brian Tichy..
I've always loved the music of Foreigner. My regret is that I've never been to a Foreigner concert. I live in a pretty rural area and have to travel a fairly good distance to attend a major concert.
Freaking good rendition of the original song with Lou Gramm. Kelly Hansen is impressive. Mick Jones is definitely adored by those that know about guitar chords.
My brother bought this album and I played the hell out of it. I went to a school dance and was head over heels for this girl named Annette. No one else really noticed her and that night was gonna be the night. I'd ask her dance and eventually she'd be my girl and we'd live happily ever after. LOL. i asked her to dance, she said YES!! And then it happened. Everyone else noticed her and she got attention from the fellas all night long and I was heartbroken. I went home and listened to this album over and over for the rest of the weekend and weeks after till my depression subsided and life went on. This song was one of my favorites on that album and this was a great performancew of it. I'm glad I stumbled upon it.
Foreigner Performs Star Rider Astronomically Heavier along with all their other classic's some what 43 4 years since I attended their 1st tour Johnstown, PA War Memorial '77 I think
See how this amazing drummer increases the guitar solo with his fine tuned changing rhythm sections. This is what I call not just a drummer, but a real musician. Simply awesome!
saw them in the 70's and 80's,never listened to them until this Video, they have been in the Area, wish I would have went. great Post, thanks 10 minutes of life well spent
You have an incredibly great voice mick Thank you so very much for the solid trash a minute. Bye lives God bless you. Stay healthy take care our old friend.
I saw this line up of Foreigner a couple years ago with Don Felder and Styx, and mainly I wanted to see Felder but Foreigner put on a kick ass show. I was very impressed.
Awesome version of Starrider despite the tempo being a bit too slow. I love the bass work of Jeff Pilson towards the end of the song when Mick is playing his solo. Pilson is one talented dude!
I love everything about this version including the tempo! Never knew Mick Jones was so good on guitar. Great song writer as well! Saw them on the 4 tour. It was amazing!
Hansen isn't Lou Gramm, never has claimed to be. But he is one of the best replacement singers of any of these older bands. Gramm had a one of a kind powerful voice but he is now a shell of that singer. His talent is not forgotten. Time moves on and Mick wisely kept Foreigner going. Mick seems ageless. He has been around since the early days of the Beatles. One of rocks most enduring figures.
