My mother loved Gary Moore, when she died aged 77 we played Empty Rooms at her funeral and they will be playing it at mine. Gary made that guitar cry, such feeling in his playing. I’m 66 now and he’s still my hero.
I was at that Hammersmith Odeon gig! This was the last encore. I was 21 years old in 1987 and had only been in London a few months from NZ. Me and my now wife couldn’t believe how good he was. Bob Daisley on Bass, Ian Paice on Drums and Neil Carter on Keyboards/guitar/backing vocals. After this song everyone kind of ambled out…no one was going to yell for another song after that. He had just played his heart and soul out! Absolutely love this guy.
U guys in Europe were very lucky to catch him live...we at south east Asia never had the chance .he didn't tour this region....anyway I'm afew years younger than you...born in 68...
I talk to young players now and say well he’s no Gary Moore……. and they all say ahhhh who?… Perhaps one of the most underated performers of all time. This man was a monster….. the tone he squeezes out of that goldtop is epic!!!!! R.I.P. GM
When people talk about guitar solos or lead guitar lines being "vocal-like," Gary Moore is probably the first person that comes to my mind. The man was one of the greatest to ever pickup the instrument.
The best blues players Ever no other I remember buying import albums in 70s how could any guitarist ever say no this guy played from his soul I cried when I first heard him a Phenomenon wow love Gary Moore
Its no a obligation (sorry for bad english) im not a músician, but the good music doesnt matter age even if they're guitarrist they must know him. Regardless, we can guide them as they want, because its not the lyric, IT IS THE FEELING WAS PLAYING to know was the Best for everey people!
Mr Moore wasn't just a genius he played supernaturally. the sound of his guitar enters our head, goes down to the heart, runs through our veins and makes us feel goosebumps, his music makes us tears of sadness for not being here anymore. RIP Mr Moore. You're and you'll be allways my hero👏👏👏👏🤟
you're description of gary moore and his music are beautiful and so true grace...music was my first love, and gary moore fillsup a big space in this love.
I've been on this planet for 69 years.. how is is that I never heard of this man until two days ago? I was moved by this piece to the point that I was almost in tears. Never in my life have I heard someone play with such passion and eloquence of expression, and I grew up listening to the greats. Gary my brother, you played not only from your heart but from your very soul!
I am 73 years young/old. Last year I was listening to "The Tenors" sing .... "Angels Calling." I was and will always grieve for my son who committed suicide. Someone saw my post about "Angels Calling." and told me to listen to Gary Moore. I had not heard him. His emotionally charged music takes me to places where sadness dwells even more but yet I am drawn into the music. My son may have listened to him; I don't know. I pray that Gary Moore found his peace at last. I sit here and try to visualize my son in Heaven smiling .
@@melro23 Seth didn't say anything in regards to a comparison !! He simply said : Steve Vai once named Gary Moore as his favorite soloist. Reading comprehension has gone out the window since 1990, hope you're alright.
@@shanghunter7697 No. I say it in a good way :) Even Steve Vai is a very good guitarrist, I considere Gary Moore the best of all Because of his passion. I love steve Vai too but Gary Moore is another level :) I know what Steve tried to say, and for that reason he is a really good guitarrist.
@@melro23 Whenever you hear he plays the guitar, Gary Moore was actually singing the song and the melody through his guitar. That is why he is no comparison with any great guitarist in the world.
The only guitarist who could transport his soul to the guitar & make it weep, cry, laugh & love to the core. One man army. No one can fill the vacuum he left behind. We miss you, come back if you can. We are waiting, we are crying.
Yes sir. This is my hero. No word can express how good Gary sound.correct?.....just enjoy the sound. That is Gary is on my personal list of the best guitarist of all time. Just my list..... hehehe...since everyone's list is different.
My idol. What a player, what a sense of melody he had, his playing was stratospheric he really dug deep and wrenched every note out of the guitar, such a pity he didn't look after himself better in later life, what a loss to all his fans, friends and family. Gary you were loved and so admired ❤ by so many, then now and forever Rock in Peace, Legend 🤘🏻
These were the longest 12 minutes of my life. So many emotions came rushing all at once Gary moore is no human, he's a celestial being with super powers that allows objects to interact with humans And this guitar cried like a baby out of the womb.
Gary Moore was one of the very very few that could make a guitar truly sing. Hendrix, Gilmour, Santana, etc. His playing will always live on in all of us.
Gary Moore is one of the very few people that could make his instrument have a life of its own. His guitar became a tormented extension of himself which he bared himself for all to see, hear and feel. 🙏🥹♥️😎
I come back to this song from time to time, but not often. It is too much of an overwhelming experience, too heartfelt of an emotion. You can feel the cut is deep with this one, and always ends with a tear. Truly the performance of a century, thank u mr. Moore.
I discovered Gary shortly after he sadly passed away. And I`ve come back here so many times in the past decade. To me this performance is the single greatest moment in music history and I can`t wait to show it to my daughter when she gets old enough to understand. :)
Gary Moore... I bought a C-cassette, from Swedish side. J-music was The name of store.. And i still have it, that cass... It was so mighty year of '85 then. ❤😊 He was a legend. And i had a poster of him, on my teeny weeny wall, so true is that thing also. 😢
The Messiah Will Come Again, Empty Rooms, Perisienne Walkways, and this one are really awesome pieces nothing short than perfect, but the one that has been giving me chills forever is Still Got The Blues! God bless Gary Moore. Rest in peace.
Gary says everything he can’t say in words through his guitar, a very private person I feel I know his life through his music. Rip Mr. Moore 🤍 you gifted genius
When the Grand Master aka GARY MOORE produces pieces of Musical Poetry - HE will NEVER BE ALONE !! Because he has the ability to takes US ALL WITH HIM to heaven & beyond! RIP GM
Anybody who hasn't heard the 1987 Live from Stockholm version of this song, get it and listen. It is 15 minutes of absolute genius. Gary Moore, The best there ever was, and I've listened to 'em all.
I will have it get that version myself. as it's one of those song's that you can listen to OVER &OVER and OVER AGAIN and not be bored off. It is a pity that his music don't get played that often radio as they dont what the listeners ate missing a master at work.
I love this rendition. He knows just what notes are important and plays only those notes while nurturing each note to its full glory. The pauses are timed just long enough for your ears and brain to fully appreciate while still being in perfect company with the rest of the notes. I've lost track of how many times I've listened to this particular upload before I have commented. RIP Gary Moore
Just got into Gary Moore and got to say. I love his style. Each note and each melody is well played, well chosen. It’s not all this mindless shredding. He’s telling a story. He can shred but to me picking the right notes and commuting 100% to them is far more impressive than shredding 1000 notes in a second
I'm 47 years old, I grew up listening to this gentleman, thanks to his songs and others too, I love guitars almost since I was born. He is no longer with us but will live on in our hearts. Your songs will live forever. Thank you, Gary, wherever you are. 🙌🙌🙌
i was alone at home on 6 februari 2011 when i heard that gary died..i cried and cried.and to this day i get tears in my eyes listening to him..the world lost a great gitarist aswel as a good man.
Gary Moore, Peter Green, and Alvin Lee...all that passion, and emotion pouring forth from just six strings. They were some of the whitest soul brothers on the planet. Thank you!!
This guy burned fast and shined bright. He was already playing great guitar solos on vinyl at seventeen. Guitar genius. No one but Jimi can make the guitar cry and sing like Gary. We want Moore.
Becoming lost in this, I suddenly realized I was crying ... a dead man's last tear. Not of sadness, you understand, or dismay. Rather as aware the depth of time gone by ... a hundred thousand generations of which we are each but a fleeting shadow, the mere blink of an owl's eye, a singular stage of transformation, nothing more. Gary Moore knew that.
My favorite guitarist of all time. So sad that millions of people don't know him. I'm glad that my local radio station played "Still got the blues" back in the late 90's and then I re-discovered him, hearing a live version of that song from "Blues Alive" 10 years later. So sad that he passed on before I got a chance to see him live.
Gary it truly a legend! I didn't know much about him until my brother one day played one of his songs. Since that day I have always listened to his songs. This person is beyond description even though his dead but his soul is still alive. Amen
I am so sad to properly discover Garrry little late and so happy that I have so much to look forward to from his complex blues note to high intensity Jazz beats and from rocking rock tunes to his emotional, solemn & lengthy guitar solos. Not easy to find any other hero like him.
Better late than never.me 2. It was too late for me because just as I found out about Gary in /2010/ 2011. I heard on the news he die within a couple years. Beore that, I did not pay attention to Gary Moore beside the song "Still Got the blue"....but just a casual listener ...not a die hard Gary Moore Fan after 2010/11.
This man..my man..GOAT.. everytime he plays..he plays little bit different.. everytime time a new dimension Is disvovered in my mind.. everytime male me goosebumps..RIP..miss u and ur magic.
@@sotirzvanidjubre4109 I didn't this of Gary..Very sad indeed but he STILL was a wonderful musician Bou. On a cheerier note...HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU WHEN IT COMES! 😆
I am now in villa sessions blues in vila do conde to leasten a tribut to Gary Moore. At the momente i didi not know he dies. Gary Moore and all this blues music didi not die . He still alive in our soul . Thanhs to this great momment. Thanks vila do conde ........Thanhs a lot . Big Hug for all .
I used to think Hendrix was the best. I mean he was the reason I started playing guitar. After listening to Gary Moore I really do think he takes the number one spot, at least for me.
Had the great fortune to see Gary, first when he was with thin lizzy, then in his ,attercliffe years as a sol, will never forget those days, never! !! What a player, sadly left too early,as did Phil lynnot😢😢😢
they are very different guitarists. you cant really say one is better than the other, unless it comes to technical skill which gary obviously takes the win. They played in very different musical eras.
He may not be the best technically or melodically, but emotionally there are just a few who touch his feet. No one moves me like Gary. Soulful expression and delivery in its truest form.
This track is a great example of the sheer brilliance & versatility that was Gary's playing - mixes the smoothness of Jazz & Blues with dazzling speed & dexterity from his Heavy Rock/Metal influences...the almost vocalisations & emotions he extracts from his guitar have never been bettered & I'm not sure they will...the man Is A Legend...RiP
Gary Moore is one of the GIANTS of the electric guitar. His feel, intuition for the melody and his unbelievable technique and speed were never bettered and probably will never be. ❤️
@ Jan : c'est exactement ce que je voulais dire, en français. Ce morceau génial de Gary Moore parvient à toucher notre âme et également à nous toucher en plein cœur ... Ils sont très peu nombreux à y parvenir.
