Would you eat this food from New Zealand? I made my childhood favourites for my wife from India. It was her first time trying vegemite, mouse trap, chippy sandwich, spaghetti bun, kiwi dip, and the "world famous in New Zealand" L&P drink.

@@jvmvine Good idea. The weather was so bad for our trip this summer, so I couldn't find a good time to organise a hangi and boil up. Part of our family lives on a Maori reservation, so that would've been cool to cover. It'll have to wait for our next trip now.

Indian moms are another level. The amount of effort they put in feeding their kids and relatives is unbelievable. Now that I have to cook I appreciate my mom so much. I have been living in NZ for 3 years now and haven’t tried Vegemite. Just assumed it will taste terrible. Will give it a go now.

Indian mums cooking is the best 👌... im uk based we have marmite, I recommend having on buttered toast but di not apply the vegimite/marmite like you would the butter or jam etc... you should apply it very sparingly as the taste is strong and too overpowering if you are not used to it. I've been eating it for years and still apply it sparingly. Half my toast looks like its hardly been touched. I absolutely love it on my soldiers with dippy egg ❤😊

Karl's chippy sandwich reminded me of a Sandwich I used to eat as a kid. It was white bread, small layer of ketchup on it, and then add Haldiram's Aloo bhujia, and then fold the bread in half. The crunch was great. It would also go well with pudina chutney

Hi Karl and Manisha! Karl, you are so right about Vegemite. The first time I tried it, I loved it. You either love it or hate it.. Vegemite is great on a toasted bagel with cream cheese and coffee. That's how my family eats it. Manisha, you are a real good taste tester! So glad you liked the L & P. I don't know of any Kiwi who doesn't like this drink!

Ahhh the chip's n Vegemite sandwich bought back memories, Back at primary school in Auckland NZ. In the 1980's, Except think i had Marmite with mine, Often ordered a chip n marmite filled roll, If remember right, Also had Zap flavoured milk, Oh can't forget the Big Ben's pies lol :) Awesome video, Watching from South Canterbury here in New Zealand. :)

Very similar to my British childhood food. Although instead of the Vegemite (Marmite) on the, we would call "Cheese on Toast", it would be topped with Worcester sauce. Good to see another country embraces chicken flavoured chips (crisps)!

I'm a Kiwi who married a Hindu....and I loved chapatis from day one, and the chicken curry my in laws made to welcome me. And all the chutneys......and all the food and the chapatis were cooked on an open fire. And I loved the dood chai with all the spices and so much raw sugar it was as sweet as condensed milk. I loved ALL the Indian food and still do.

Same here as an Indian kid born and brought up in Dubai, I used to complain and dislike eating Chapatis and other indian dishes, purely because I used to eat it everyday. After moving to the Netherlands to study and eating gora food, I can wholeheartedly say I miss Indian food and now realize how lucky I am that our cuisine is so diverse. Now every time I go back I call my mom in advance to make sure that chapatis are ready before I reach dubai🤣

The closest Kiwi thing was the Spagetti on bread except mine was a form of using a jafull iron. I was camping in Australia outback. Vegamite only if offered won’t go out of my way to get it.

I used to hate marmite when i was in the uk, but then randomly years later, I craved it and found it in Canada, and I LOVE it. I add it to pastas and things to give it a cheesey taste (I generally eat vegan unless it's an "accident" ahem chocolate... 🤭) And marmite is amazing on buttered toast, I use pumpernickel bread as it goes best with beans, when i make beans on toast (which you MUST make her try!!!) LOL 💕💕💕💕💕 But yeah I can't with the crisps on sandwich situation, nor the tinned spaghetti on bread. I tried, it's still a no from me, and my various organs tbh 🤣🤣 (I normally eat fresh raw salads and fruit, smoothies and so on, so when I eat things like that, my body let's me know it hates me loololol)

My question is how do Aussies and Kiwis still manage to look so fit and toned, eating this type food, while us Indians, who eat so many green vegetables and healthy stuff, still get obese?

They eat a lot of meat along with working out regularly. But Indians eat a lot of carbohydrates, sugar, and fried foods, without giving priority to exercise.

I will follow your gorgeous wife’s food tips and recommendations any time. Just like her marmite 🤮. Mint chocolate 🥰 We were lucky for a time that we had a restaurant that made ‘authentic’ Kerala dishes, in my little town. I got on well with the staff as I would pop in just for a quick lunch every couple of weeks. They were genuinely from Kerala. They did all the standard U.K. favourites like korma, tikka, madras, vindaloo. But the Kerala special Menu was out of this world. It was the first time I’d eaten anything in Tamarind sauce. Absolute heaven. The flavours were amazing, the fish was always cooked beautifully. When I popped in for lunch it was usually for prawns/shrimp in tamarind with half a portion of coconut rice. I really miss that place, we were very sad when it closed.
