I went there in February and on my second flight I was told I didn't have the correct documentation so had to get another flight the next day, my stress level was through the roof and I couldn't relax until I was on my third and final flight.

Glad you made it to the Philippines! Welcome! I wish you both a very happy and super safe trip! The oldest chinatown in the world is in Binondo Manila. Built by the Spaniards in the late 16th century for the Chinese community.. There is a food tour there where a guide takes you around Chinatown to the famous restaurants that serve authentic and delicious Chinese-Filipino food. Immerse yourself in Filipino culture at Intramuros. Literally means "walled city". It is steeped in history and you can definitely sense how the Spaniards influenced a vast majority of our language, culture, food, and architecture. While there, check out Fort Santiago and the Luneta Park. You also can spend the whole day at MOA (Mall of Asia) one of the biggest malls in the world. There are so many nice cafes and restaurants and they have a small amusement park outdoors. You can get on the ferris wheel and perhaps check out the sunset from there. There's the Manila Bay, where they are currently doing the Dolomite Beach project which will be completed hopefully be end of this year. The Philippine government and the kind, hardworking civilians had turned a literal cesspool into a white sandy beach where families can enjoy watching the sun set. If you have enough in your budget, try the Spiral Buffet at the Sofitel Plaza Hotel near Manila Bay. They have one of the best buffets in the whole of Asia with choices so vast, you wouldn't know where to start. (They literally have a temperature regulated room dedicated to just cheese). Then for a fabulous night in town, check out BGC (my personal favorite to hang out). Great crowd, cafes, and restos. Manam has delicious Filipino food (you should try their UBE or purple yam shake and don't forget the fresh mango shake (arguably some of the sweetest and juiciest mangoes you will ever eat are found in the island of Guimaras.) If you would like to get out of the city for a little bit to get a bit of fresh air, check out Tagaytay where you will find the Taal volcano (one of the smallest active volcanoes in the world. It is a volcano within a lake with a lake within the volcano. Call it a volcano matryoshka if you will). There you must try the Bulalo or bone marrow soup (their specialty) and the fresh buko (young coconut) pie. I brought some to a french friend of mine and he loved it. If a French man loved that pastry, I guarantee it is fresh and good. I did forget the name of the shop though I think we bought ours at Colette's. If you are feeling energetic, check out Masungi Geo Reserve in Rizal, where you will learn more about sustainable tourism and its importance. All these and they were just tips of the iceberg of activities in the Philippines. You can roam Cebu (Zipline your way to Kawasan Falls canyoneering, osmena peak, tumalog falls, more outdoor food market), Bohol (see the Tarsiers, swim with the whale sharks, watch the dolphins, watch the sea turtles grazing, engulf yourself with thousands of sardines, cruise on the Loboc River and watch the fireflies light up the dark sky, chocolate hills) and on and on and on... but look them up and see what may suit you. Batanes (like New Zealand), Baguio (summer capital to escape the scorching summer heat) and Sagada (hanging coffins, the gorgeous rice terraces), Siargao (catch the waves), Vigan (like Spain), Pampanga and Bicol (to try their delicious food and ATV your way to the famous volcanoes Pinatubo and Mayon respectively) I haven't even started on the the gorgeous white sandy paradise islands yet but I'm sure you have already heard about many of them! Point is, whatever you choose to do, please enjoy your stay there and immerse yourself in the culture and the people. When you show them your love, I guarantee they give you 20 times more. Have fun in the Philippines!!!

hope you see the nice parts of Makati too. Poblacion is the old part and the party district. It's not really a beautiful area. But Makati has really nice neighborhoods like Salcedo Village and Legazpi Village. They're nice to walk around
