Dulu jaman sekolah emg sering denger bonyok dipake buat sebut ortu tp pas kuliah udh gapernah denger krn keluar jkt. Di jkt pun jarang yg make bonyok kebanyakan yg asli betawi atau yg sering ngobrol sama org betawi (atau emg w yg jarang bergaul dgn anak gaul :x)
LOL But Mager in Dutch means slim/skinny, spelling G sound like Arabic "Kha". The rough spelling of soft "R" in French. Baper = Too sensitive = Too Emphatic. Bonyok = Bruise or Jakartan short of Bokap and Nyokap (Father and Mother). Mager = Malas/Males Gerak = Too lazy to move. Alay = Too much in everything out of norm, too much dressing up, too much style, etc. Rempong = To much worry about, too detailed, too demanding, too complicated. Bete = Bad treat, Bad mood. Lebay = Too extra, too overreacting. Sotoy = short of Sok tau = Acting like knowing it all, but knows nothing at all. Unyu = Cute, charming. Gabut = Gaji Buta = Blind salary = not doing the job properly but getting paid.
That's what I thought tooo, I live in jakarta but I've never heard the word bonyok being referred to parents 😂 but I was like "ahh" when they said it was short for bokap and nyokap which I hear all the time 😆
That Solomon Islander guy really looks like regular Eastern Indonesian guy. If he somehow get lost in the Eastern part of Indonesia, people will assume he's a local. LOL
Bete originally stands for BT which is the abbreviated form of Bad Time or Boring Total (totally boring) ... while letter B and T in Indonesian alphabet are pronounced Be and Te ... so we call it "bete" "you've made me bete" means "you've given me bad time, or you are totally boring, etc" ... anything that make us annoyed
In depok "gabut" is like "I don't know what to do" when you say "im gabut" the meaning is "I don't know what to do" (maybe just in depok or i dont know)
Andy looks like Don Cheadle (War Machine) and Dennis look like Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) 😂. Great you guys got two Marvel character on this video. Sangat suka video2 Gado. 😍
Okay, time to put on my sotoy hat. As a jakartan born in the early 90s, i notice that most of the slangs come from abbreviations: Bonyok: bokap+nyokap. Nyokap and bokap come from bahasa prokem (adding “ok” to obscure original words) a.k.a. bahasa preman Alay: anak layangan Baper: bawa perasaan Mager: males gerak Bete: Probably from Bad Trip but different theories on this one. Gabut: gaji buta As I said, i was just being sotoy. But if any of you netizen budiman would like to correct or add to this comment, please do.
