Hi Paul your cover keeps haunting me and I am drawn back to listen time after time. Are your piano skills self taught or did you have any professional tutoring?
Thank you for your kind words Keet. I had piano lessons in my childhood and teens and completed the piano exams. However, I could play before taking lessons and now I figure out arrangements without reference to anyone else's sheet music.
Why can the majority of my generation not appreciate music played so beautifully, or the entire beauty of the song itself. makes me sad :( I aspire to play as well as this, Love the video
Thank you Keet. RU-vid seem to do everything to get the viewer to browse and move on to something else before the end of the video. Thank you for staying through to the end.
I uploaded a video of me playing this song today, then i watched your cover version. All I've got to say is WOW... Very Inspirational. I wish I could give a million thumps up
Thanks. I come up with my own arrangements - I gave up with sheet music, both buying it and trying to sell my arrangements to the big companies, a long time ago.
Привет, дорогой друг. Отличное исполнение! Есть у тебя желание или возможность поделиться нотами своей аранжировки. Думаю, что твои почитатели были бы в восторге от твоей щедрости. ❤
Just recently discovered your channel and been watching all your videos :) This one is my favourite, as for me everything about it is perfect! You capture the atmosphere of the original, the notes and timing are spot on, and you got that Roland set up perfectly. Well done! Thanks for at least doing a top down view so we have a chance of learning it without sheets.
I'd love to see a tutorial for this. Or if you do get round to making sheet music I'd happily buy a copy! If you're happy to provide it for free then do set up a patreon account or similar :)
It is not boring. It is very kind and encouraging. I'm losing the fight to get time to record any more videos. I have been playing a long time (since early childhood). The best thing to do is get a good instrument with built in reverb so that it sounds good through headphones and just play whatever you like the sound of.
@bppool Thanks for you comment about video quality. I'm using a Canon PowerShot SX210 for the video and recording the sound separately then putting the two together. The picture should be HD. It takes longer to set up everything, and to do the editing, but I think the end result is worth it.
incredible!! would love to hear more from you and maybe you could do a tutorial, cause there aren't a lot of this kind of music, or they are not as good as you are.. Love it
Hi love your videos and I love playing the piano and love this song. Where did you get your sheet music from and also what settings would you suggest for this song?
Hi. Thanks for your kind comment. Sorry there is no sheet music. I would suggest (as seems to work best with everything) a grand piano sound with added base below about C2 and added elec piano above.
@WKerryUK Thanks. The electronic sound of the original has dated quite a lot now - at the time it would have sounded space agey. I've added Floyd to the todo list and I'll have a listen and see what I can find.
By the time I'd reached their little red brick house, Carrie and her father were gone....Fire suddenly leapt from house to house. The population packed and ran, and I was swept along with them, aimless and lost without Carrie. Finally, I headed eastward, and my only hope of survival; the boat out of England.
That's just great! I love it! And I like your Justin Hayward Single. :P I have also a piano version of Forever Autumn on RU-vid, but your version is much better then mine! I was playing in front of an audience and I messed it up. :D
Thanks Ame. I do make sheet music and give it away on paulwwells.com. I have a work in progress board and I have just added Forever Autumn - so it will get made eventually.
@Martianfan Thanks for commenting and favoriting. Just listening to you version now. I can hear that the arrangement is all there and about as good as it can be under the pressure of a live performance.
Thank you. Whenever I put the kettle on to make a cup of tea rather than just stand there waiting for it to boil I normally have a quick go on the piano.
this is great! i honestly think if you put this on itunes or something like that then you could probabily stack up a few purchases! please do a tutorial!
hey! this is amazing! can you do a tutorial on how to play this please! i dont know how to read notes but id be greatful if u showed me in a video what keys to press! thanks! ^^
It is probably boring for you to hear this - but simply - it is really GREAT! (as other your arrangements). Tell me. please, how long have you been playing piano and what is a chance for a guy like me (over 50) to play 5% as good as you...:-) (with some little music background, playing from time to time my CASIO WK200 (mostly with headphones not to annoy my wife :))
Hi beautiful playing thankyou for the share. Would there be any possibility of you playing Vandervalk Eye Level. My brother used to play this on his piano and it really is a wonderful tune thankyou :D
Thank you. I'll be honest I'm getting very little time to do any recording these days, I have a couple of tunes in the pipeline to record sometime. I didn't know the name of this tune until you brought it to my attention just now. I always thought it was too I-IV-Vy, but listening to it again these years later I can hear that the tune and the melody are its strengths. Gosh, theme tunes used to be long.
Hi again thankyou for replying to me. If you do ever find the time I'm sure I will not be the only person to appreciate this wonderful tune. It really does sound fantastic played on the piano/keyboard. As for the tune sounding long why make a great one short lol :D I'll keep my fingers crossed xx
Hi Paul, I'm a 15 year old lad, and about 2 years ago, I started playing on a keyboard. However after about a year, I started to lose interest, and now I want to start playing again. Do you have any advice? It would mean a lot coming from someone who I watch quite a lot! By the way, this is my favourite video right now!
Thank you Dylan. 1. Get a good keyboard with good headphones so you can play whenever you like (I really could have done with these at age 15, now they're fairly easy to get hold of). 2. Record and upload to RU-vid - its a good way to force yourself to bring a song up to performance level and to move on to new songs afterwards. 3. Only play what you really want to play. If a song doesn't sound good then give up and try another song.
