One of North Dakota’s most precious regions, no surprise, is also one of its most agriculturally fertile. At the state’s easternmost reaches flows the Red River of the North, a body of water which forms a border with an adjacent state and its high-yielding nearby soils have given opportunistic immigrants an easy reason to pick up farm work here, a labor which has defined the region since territorial times. With the arrival of railroad systems like the Northern Pacific and the Great Northern, the city of Fargo bloomed into preeminence to act as the country’s uppermost prominent entryway into the Great Plains. Instead of being remembered for this great legacy however, the public image of this area has been bound by misattribution ever since the fictitious dark comedy film Fargo was released to the public. We are here though on the Coverage Project to look beyond surface level and praise the many achievements for which North Dakota’s largest city should rather be celebrated. Don't let the 1996 namesake hit get in the way of how you view this great city!
