Woah, your mic is hot. t's not just clipping, it's being over attenuated really bad. I used to do a lot of recording for a studio. I know a lot about sound. With the use of a Zoom mic with the levels set for the loudest part of the speech this can be fixed. It's easy enough to sync up using the hammer strikes as a marker. Also, clipping the mic on at the edge of the bill of your cap right by the temple of your head might help. You can snake the cable down the back of your shirt. It might bug you being in your peripheral vision but you get used to it after a while. In the meantime you can try adjusting your levels down if possible. If your mic system has a meter on it, you only want them to peak at ¾ of the scale. You can always boost the sound later in post production if it needs it.
I fight spiders and wasps. If I'm not in the smithy for a few days, they take over and my first 10 minutes is spent de-bugging the smithy. Nice video! (dang spiders got me off track.)
sure do enjoy the vids! Makes me wish I had the backyard for anvil and swage sittin 2 hrs away at my dads place... stuff like this kinda makes me miss workin at the steel plant... kinda lol
Great project. Your videos are well presented and easy to follow. A question I noticed that your leg vice appeared to have plates on the jaws. Are these, if I am correct, smooth and if so how are they attached? Thanks for your generous advice. Geoffm
Great video. Two questions. No, four. 1. Could you have flattened out the end of the handle and then formed the spoon from one piece? 2. With the rivets could you have heated up the 3 nail heads then hammered until they became one and would that strengthen the overall connection? 3. I'm guessing to take the rivets to another level they could have been forged instead of store bought? 4. Why is a big, burly blacksmith surrounded by fire and heavy hammers afraid of a little spider?
1. Yes, you can forge a one piece spoon. 2. You can do that but the bowl will fail far before the rivets or a solid weld would. 3. Sure. 4. They are terrifying and must be eliminated.
Hi Trent, Is it possible to get a copy of Jay's book? I've looked for it and can't find it. I called Andersonville and they said they didn't have it. It was good to see you in Thomasville at Victorian Christmas. Happy 2017! Margaret Levings
The audio is just slightly over driven, lots of gain and noise. The distortion cancels out sound and turns into noise very quickly. Please check your audio levels for future. Otherwise, great video as usual. Great demonstration.
dude go get some peppermint extract. mix in a pump or spray bottle and saturate your shop. just deal with the scent. and you'll not deal with insects and arachnids.
Continuous spot weld, dont lose heat but dont let it build! Did it just today, a disk cut from drum welded to a 1/4 ring to form a circular knob on a tightening screw for a tool I just made. Not hard but does take control!
Been watching your videos all morning, first thing I thought when I started this one: who the heck is that guy? Then I realized that you had shaved. Weird...
To get more specific on the mic comments, on the close ups you tend to get very loud and gravelly, which makes it very difficult to understand what you are saying. I only say this to help you refine what must be done to improve for any future videos that go to dvd.
abused aboard or tongues to transfer to the whatever I was going to use for the fishing but that usually just a scrap piece maybe half an inch Pisa Italy Poplar that's a species of the wood but I'll just use it to hold it while I beat it and scooted around and it really doesn't matter cuz it's a common tree that grows around me area and I get it given to me pretty Franklin I usually use charcoal anyways so it doesn't matter doesn't really matter the term let's refused and I didn't use them swaging block or Ferro block is years a block of wood like you said so it's not too much of a stretch for me to use a wooden tool horse hardwood works better but it's borderline Hardwood that I use I don't really consider it a hardwood but it's one of the few plants that was actually introduced to Europe when they first started importing exporting stuff and then pouring dumb Arizona bring its fast-growing invasive because it's so fast growing you have a you can have a tree in 20 years that's a pretty good-size Lumber in long as you keep it painted it lasts quite a while or at least covered in some way I put a used 10 on my building and then the neighbor cut it up into Lumber he's had has a hold Chevy motor mounted on a house trailer frame for a sawmill and a circular saw Sabaton 34 inch blade it's a big boy Instagram wider than my arms and so probably bigger than 30 cuz I'm six foot three and oh my I have a 6 foot dog end and I have a 6 year arm reach at least the term that's from when the tip of the middle finger to the tip of the middle finger but then that's why I may use your stuff usually is with my body like my thumb is an inch and 1 inch and 5/8 is my phone link from knuckle to tip of finger and it's an actual the one that bends the most not those what's the first number mean I use a stick or board for a lot of things when it comes to forwards because I am a part-time Carpenter can part-time blacksmith part-time electrician list about Jack of all trades master of none I'm pretty good I think I'm not perfect but it is if anything Republican probably could build an AK-47 variant rifle if I wanted to that's half the fun about being Living in America or anywhere on the world that's got to be running around it's just happens to be and that range of caliber cuz it's pretty simple you can buy an AK-47 barrel or AK-74 Ford what does the prayer lazy to find pieces and parts for but they even easier is an AR-15 is there so many different companies in America in the world but mainly in America but you can build them out of just about anything they are 15 if you got the right building machines you could too no one out with a hand router if you knew what you doing and you would deaths had a fairly good apparel calibers can I use calipers to measure a lot of things but I'm going to be building to any precise measurements like after no makeup I'm not driver or a socket set extension the switch to make it will fit on a ratchet little square piece but I like music a lot address have at least 5 but I can remember and what would you recommend to write or make a drift with I know what else may come out of but the other Stratton scrub you're pretty soft anyways no I was just wondering what your take was on it I haven't watched all of your videos but also I have like them the ones I've seen
