If my internet wasn't so bad and I didn't have to sleep, I would watch the video. looks cool and cheap. I came for the habaki shorts, but I don't like welding, anyway, it looks really cool, and it still looks very cheap, I'm not in the mood to buy leather, so a wooden sheath is a great option (I've never even seen a kydex other than the s sheaths holsters already made, and I don't want to use PVC)
Man, this is really cool. Makes me want to make a knife. I've spent decades doing fine work with metal but I've never made a knife before. One thing that surprised me a bit is when you're soldering the copper pieces together with the Smith little torch, I didn't see much flux (either borax or boric acid) on the copper. Did you use something different to what I've been using all this time? Copper is such a dirty metal for us to solder and as a result I usually use a ton of boric acid and borax to keep it as clean as possible in the solder joints. Really cool knife man. I dig it.
Thanks man! The rod I used was 1/8" self fluxing bronze braising rod made by Hobart. For copper to copper you don't need flux, for copper to brass you would need to use a flux (all according to their instructions on the packaging). I removed the copper oxide layer before braising with Brasso but probably didn't need to as the pieces were already fairly clean.
