Very nice. Way smaller than my arthritic fingers could handle. Credit to your skill and commitment.

Very nicely done, now to make a tiny touchmark to stamp the needle.

That has to be the smallest slitting chisel I've ever seen made. My smallest is just over .125". Precision work and looks great John!

Fantastic work! Why did you do it in a hospital room though? Haha, such a gorgeous shop!

That had to be a real challenge! One slip on the treadle and it'd been squished flat! Looks like it'd make a good sailor's needle for sure. The real test is to use it to make a ditty bag.

Always great learning from your videos no matter what you may be making. Very interesting forgeing video this week. Very nice job. Turned out very well there. Hopefully you get great use out of it my friend. Always very nice to see your very clean and very welcomeing shop. Can't wait to see what you decide to throw in the forge next and forge on. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.

And some folks wonder why pins and needles were so expensive back before mass production was a thing.

Why spring steel? Not that I'm a blacksmith, but I would have chosen mild steel for the ductility.

beautiful, but in order to help the big hole of the needle, the sharp point should be thick enough to make a large hole on leather, like gladiators blades, thank you for the videos .

I wouldn't use that to sew a hole in me socks the size of that needle it would make another hole twice the size of the first hole
@paulwomack5866
@paulwomack5866 2 года назад
Well spotted. Of course, needles aren't normally made by forging (for "reasons"). For a forged needle, this is tiny.
