I used 7/8" mild round bar but hit a snare on the end of the video but it worked out in the end. The upset corner was a fun challenge to tackle, I had a lot of fun with this project I hope you enjoy!! #blacksmith #diy #metalworking

Honesty. Wow. I genuinely appreciate how you didn't gloss over the mistakes, but instead, you owned them and fixed them. Nicely done.

I always thought that hold fast go's in the Pritchel hole. But it looks nice. Keep up the good work and God bless.

I believe some do but I wanted one a little heavier I think one for the pritchel hole will be in the near future so I have one.

Good first one, for your second one you should try get a stock closer to your hole size. Because to create the holding tension it is wedging itself against 2 opposites sides of the holes and the looser the fit the more the bar has to basically get rotated to be in contact with both sides. This rotation means more for the force will be going sideways then downwards on the material. 80-90% of the hole size is a good estimate. Spring steel is a bit overkill, if you think about the flexibility and springiness of normal steel it will easily cover the tiny bit of bend these bits need in comparison to the compression and deformation springs do.

Very nice work in all videos. You made that upset corner look easy. I also have to mention, it seems like you have years of experience, beyond your age. Your work seems to end up very clean and proportionate. I'm a subscriber for sure. Try your hand at a spring fuller. I'd like to see your take on one, as I'm going to be trying some versions myself. Thanks for the ideas and easily understood instruction. KoJak.

Thank you I really appreciate that complement! I just try and do the best I can. I have been thinking of making a spring fuller maybe sometime soon I can get one made!

Great job. I see a lot of people struggle with a good sharp corner, but you made it clean.

I need to make more of these too, I made one but it’s too light weight to really do any good

Awesome video and fantastic work! I’ve heard some people say an anvil holdfast (not a holdfast for wood work) should always be made out of spring steel or similar, not mild steel. Do you agree? Does it really matter? I don’t want to use spring steel unless absolutely necessary.

Thank you! I'm sure spring steel would maybe be a stronger option but I don't see anything wrong with a mild steel version like the one I made. at the end of the day it just has to function and I believe the mild steel version will just fine.

Did you make your touch mark stamp yourself? If so, I would like to see a video on making one.

Yes I did make my touch mark, I can do a touchmark video it isn't too hard to do.
