One of MMA's most dominant stand up fighters that not enough people know about. ~Many clips courtesy of Zuffa and the documentary "The Smashing Machine" ~Songs: Drago Entrance Theme - Rocky IV Soundtrack Mein Teil - Rammstein
The way he threw hooks was so cool, too. Like Fedor, he would turn his palm downward as if checking the time, making his shoulder come up and protect his face even while he was dropping bombs, which is why it was so rare for him to get KO'd. There need to be more MMA strikers inspired by Igor and Mirko-- both men were just about unstoppable in their primes.
With the exception of Fedor, Igor is truly the greatest MMA Heavyweight ever and I say that with full confidence. If only MMA fans cans see a match with a prime Igor vs. a prime Fedor...
Igor was the Master class, and he was bully killer. Accuracy with his right and left punches, hook, and his kicks were also very dangerous, he was one of best of his time.
my all time favorite fighter , my man "ice cold" igor vovchanching , its insane the power that this dude had/has , 5'9 and 235 lb ....he could put you into a coma for breakfast , he has KO's with his patented overhand right, knees, elbows, and even headbutts , granite chin and just plain vicious
Not personally but representatives fought him. Adilson Lima was from the Ryan/Renzo camp and they sent him to fight in the Russian Absolutes, but he was beaten by Igor. Renzo was cornering the fight. Carlos Barretto was was from Carlson Gracie team. Mario Sperry was from Carlson Gracie team (his fight was right after he formed BTT) who submitted Igor.
This man manhandles professional fighters like they don't know what they're doing. 36 fight win streak is similar that of fedor if you think about it. I am diehard Cropcop fan, but sometimes wonder how he was able to catch Igor with that roundhouse.
What was the fight where they had to keep extending the fight because they had no Tie rules or Ending time, i think it was against a Gracy and before the Pride time (also the crowd got into a fight i think). i think it was a 8 men tournament
