There’s also a Czech village in Serbian Banat that’s called Češko Selo(which literally means “Czech Village”) and with 39 Czech inhabitants it’s the only settlement in Serbia with a Czech majority population. It’s really small but they have a small museum and a really nice church and they’re really trying to keep the village alive

Good video especially for me as a Romanian living in Prague who really enjoys your videos. Just a few notes: It’s not “thousands of Km away but merely 800 from Prague to those Czech Villages”. Second, Transylvania and Banat were never part of the Balkans, neither physically, not culturally. Wallachia and Moldavia can be considered culturally as “balcanic” as they were were Ottoman Vassals for 400 years, but even them are not part of the Balcans geographically. We love the nations in the Balcans though, just needed to be specific. Also good job for everything you guys do!😇

This video is a bit off, as you kind of just say in the video that there are Czech villages in Romania, and that the Region is called Banat.. but the Banat region is actually much larger, and also encompasses a big part of north-eastern Serbia and also a bit of Hungary. I know this is a Czech channel so you're gonna focus on those villages in the region, but you could've at least explained the Banat region as a whole a bit better instead of how it's done here.

heeey, thanks for putting Romania on the map! I didn't know we have Czech minorities, only Slovak. This video makes me want to visit that part of the country, even though it's kind of inaccessible. Greeting from Cluj-Napoca, in the neighbouring region of Transylvania! PS: if you consider visiting let us know, Romanians will definitely take you out for a beer

Thanks for sharing guys. My wife and I want to visit now. Do you know there is a Czech village in New Zealand. It is Puhoi, pronounced "Poo Hoy", which means slow water. It has great pub, great cheese factory, and a Czech museum. It is only 20 minutes drive away from my New Zealand home. I'm currently in Prague so maybe when I return to New Zealand, I can take you there if you visit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puhoi

4:54 Does the s -> š change always happen in the Banát dialect? I also heard "šlivovice" (instead of "slivovice", the plum brandy) at 2:46

Amazing post :). Hope that you really enjoyed Banat. Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but the village "Eibenthal" has also the Czech name of "Tisové Údolí":

Amazing! You should try to visit Češko selo (Česká ves) in serbian part of Banat (Банат). It is the only settlement where Czechs make majority of population. Also in Bela crkva you can find Czechs there too!
