I think Apep's Slumber is more interesting. I always start league with a poison build, and Apep Slumber + Maw of Conquest + Golden rule gives you: Poison Immunity (Effectively) ~300 base ES + 400 ES regen +100% Chaos Res (assuming you can hit enough, otherwise lower) +3% all max res (incl. chaos) ~65 added chaos damage to your skill incr spell crit chance ~20% life recoup, of which a lot is taken from ES given your regen If youre near a ES Mastery on your tree, you can add Burden of Truth Belt and add Petri Blood to roughly take 66% of all damage to es and 33% of damage to life, making excellent use of recoup and es regen. Thanks for listening to my ted talk
I think I will try this on next league start on Inquisitor. I want to utilise Rebuke of Vaal for something aside Hexblast mines(i played it in affliction). I think i will go selfcast with selfchill by Icefang Orbit + WinterWeave and utilize some poison chance with Vile Toxins support
@@spuryaas Mines are really broken right now, but in any case if you want to use vile toxins 1) be sure to use a 21 gem for moar damage 2) play a shadow (any ascendancy) and get the second assassin poison node via fflame/fflesh. This will allow you to very easily scale crit. If you want to use rebuke, use spellblade support. Yes, this doesnt get you the additional battlemage, but if for example you are running trickster, then you get more than enough damage utility to make up for it (+2 frenzies, more damage mult, action speed) If you still want to run inquis, then i suggest you additionally utilize mind over matter + zealots oath when using burden of truth, since 40% from 33% damage from life is only 13.33% damage to mana, which you can easily get the recoup for, and get more recoup when pathing over witch to sustain fully through petriblood. if not using burden of truth then you can instead also try gravens secret + fflame/fflesh + 4 min endu/power charge node from hiero + malachais loop + badge of the brotherhood for huge recoup on es, allowing you to reserve all life and mana with dragons breath + traitor and gain ~10 max absorption and frenzy charges and alot more reservation pool. Hope you have fun 👍
Clicks on PoE video > hears Guild Wars theme > nostalgia hits like a truck > forgets about video and starts up Guild Wars immediately > finishes off video hours later as I'm about to turn off my PC for the day...
Thank you for these informative videos. I'm trying to switch over to leagues but I just can't find a build that can do everything in SSF. This is pretty neat.
I was very disappointed when I found out in game that despite the description for Commandment of Inferno on the Wiki and poedb stating "Base duration is 2.00 seconds" and "One impact every 0.10 seconds", it actually only has one impact.
Why isn't it used more often? Because Occultist's ES route was entirely nuked. I'm not sure if you can self-poison while you have CI (as the poison would do no damage to you), but last I checked, this shield was used for Occultist going Blade Vortex. The problem being is that Occultist basically lost 250 flat ES from her ascendancy route, wicked ward got put on the tree with a massive downside, energy from within got chunked hard, etc. Also, there's stiff competition from aegis aurora coupled with melding of the flesh, as this item was used before melding of the flesh came into the game. Overall, it just kind of got outscaled by other options that have since been introduced to the game, and the primary class that used this item lost a lot of reason to use it. Oh, and one last thing: 250 ES on a shield is SMALL. I remember back in the days before ES nerfs took place, it wasn't unheard of to have 600. Even post-nerf, 400 might still be something to aspire to.
I would really like to see somebody talk about Olroth resolve, the most defence item in the entire game. Ward is taken after mitigation, so if you have 90 all res, and you have 1k ward after Olroth. Then you can take a single hit of 10.000 elemental damage and still take 0 damage. But if the hit is 20k then you take an astonishing 1k damage. Unless you have unbreakable and some armour. If you can mitigate that 2000 hit by 50% by unbreakable, then you still take 0 damage, from hits...... DOT will take you out because ward only works on hits, and the same is true for unbreakable.
Another downside of the shield is it basically forces you into playing a poison build, which limits you quite alot and has a certain playstyle which not everyone will enjoy
i've been playing a frenzy of onslaught slayer (golden rule tainted pect trauma setup) and this shield could potentially work nice but a max frenzy shield is probs better for this build
While the Apep's + Golden Rule + Tainted Pact combo seems nice I'd almost say that Jousis' version with Mahuxotl's Machination appears to be the better setup defensively as you get +5 max res from Mahuxotl's Machination and can use Divine Flesh + Tempered by War to not take any cold or lightning damage at all. You also have Immortal Ambition baked into the shield along with some other keystones that may or may not affect the build.
Not sure if you covered this I'm commenting while watching ... There are several "while bleeding" uniques that give you buffs while bleeding.. like the breach boots and golden rule
I’ve been trying to make this shield + Tainted Pact work in a Frenzy/Endurance charge stacking Gladiator using Lacerate of Haemorrhage. The issue is that it is really hard to get consistently long leeches in a DoT build without making some serious DPS cuts. Maybe use a 15% damage taken leeched as life flask + self-damage (like trauma/Scold’s Bridle) to keep leech up all the time?
Yeah this is the biggest problem with the bleed reflection concept - you need large hit damage, can't use deadly ailments etc. to be able to hit leech instance cap
@@dreamcore_gg I did have great success with Incandescent Heart’s ele gained as chaos damage in a Frenzy-stacking cold Splitting Steel Slayer a few leagues ago. That was enough damage to give insane regen on reflected poisons with Tainted Pact + Snakebite gloves for 60% poison chance. Apep’s felt like it was outclassed by many other shields though, especially since Tainted Pact only cares about life and not ES. In my case, I used a +1 frenzy implicit shield. Mahuxotl’s also allows overleech as well iirc, but then again that’s not what this video is about 😂
PSA for tainted pact, maintaining 100% uptime on leech is near impossible. You can theoretically do it but any time you stop for anything like picking up loot you risk dying. Even Kharns build which doesn’t scale poison at all still dies to cannot leech mobs I believe. It’s a fun unique to play around, but know you will die to yourself regularly.
True my friend tried to make a giga bleeder using this combo, in hardcore lol he managed to play it for a week or so at least before dying to some kind of edge case. I used this on my dark pact build , that way I could leech from myself by crafting the flask mod "15% of damage taken from hits is leeched as life is during effect" and used petrified blood so leech never turned off.
You can do it with leech flask mod from betrayal "15% of damage taken leeched as life" and wurms molt. then you just need to self-hit with e.g. forbidden rite and you have perma leech. forbidden rite can also easily poison, so its a realy good skill. The most stable setup for this is this 3-link: cyclone-acwc(cannot be stunned)-forbidden rite The only caveat here is that you need to keep channeling some time after last hitting an enemy to avoid taking your own poison damage
@@jeromebueltjer8104 did you actually play that? Leech can only heal 20%/s while FR deals 40% so you can only cast every 2s or you’re not so slowly killing yourself. Cwc is way faster than that so you’d definitely kill yourself in under a second when poisons end, but as you pointed out if you stop casting before they’re done you instantly die to poison.
@@jeromebueltjer8104 I got it to work by using a crucible apeps with even more chance to be poisoned. That was enough chance to be poison that it would consistently out heal the self damage but I had just enough life to outlive the 2 poisons I got. I honestly doubt it’s possible without that now unobtainable item though.
"The duration of the Poison reflected to you matches the duration of the Poison you applied and isn't reduced by Reduced Poison Duration on yourself." The shield, Lethe Shade and probably also (self curse) Temp Chains won't prolong poison duration for poisons reflected by The Golden Rule, am I understanding this correctly? So you probably only want to use the Golden Rule in this setup if you play a poison build (which is probably always) since the duration of the inflicted poison is reflected and seemingly cannot be modified. btw... anyone know if you can self hit (e.g. with Boneshatter) to poison yourself?
Modifiers to ailment duration(self) such as inc/reduced duration of ailments on you or the modifier on Lethe shade won't change the duration of reflected ailments, as they are reflected ie. they use your offensive stats, so increased poison duration(outgoing) in this case would change the duration of reflected poisons. However, faster/slower expiry rate of effects on you, like the one on temp chains, or the slower expiry rate of poisons on you modifier on the shield isn't a modifier that actually changes the duration of those effects(numerically), it slows or speeds up time in relation to the duration of the effect, making it last longer(or expire faster). These work regardless of the source of the effect or ailment. Also, yes you can poison yourself with self hit damage such as boneshatter/trauma damage with the chance to be poisoned mod on the shield
Bleeding is a damaging ailment, corrupted blood is a debuff. Both deal physical damage over time but bleeding can only be inflicted by an attack which deals physical damage, while CB comes from many sources(mostly monster abilities)
Tbh apep's slumber is way far better to use then supremacy, like golden rule + patheon wich limit poisons on you to max 3 we dont need to worry about staking too much self poison, and ill alow the use of eldritch batery with 240 es regen/s, while +3 max all res, wich can even stack with things like born of chaos or corrupted soul.
Slumber is a good shield as well but I don't think EB is a great use for it. You don't really need the ES regen from the shield if you have recharge active all of the time unless you're also planning to use MoM
@@ahmedalocard1909 That's fine - damage types are quite even but they're useful for different things as @eikhvitnov7159 said. For example fire damage for igniting, physical/chaos for poison etc. by default
