Funny how before the draft there was so much talk about the Giants being interested in McCarthy but seeing this obviously they had no interest what so ever lol.
The whole jj over Daniel’s and maye thing was just a smokescreen put out by the Vikings and giants who were both hoping they could get drake maye because he was the clear #2 qb in the draft. Both teams tried to trade a lot of picks to get him, but the patriots stayed.
The raiders are going to be kinda the AFC niners in a few years imo. All the weapons on the skill side and it'll be a plug in whoever at QB situation. Can't necessarily stop them.
He is presenting to the owner and chairman of the board, you don't need to go that deep into the analytics for this kind of higher level discussion. All the work is already been done by the grunts below.
@@khoabuivan4458 yea this is like me trying to explain something super technical to my boss, when i can just tell him i got it fixed cause thats all they need to hear
@@khoabuivan4458 One thousand percent. I'm a business analyst. The scouts and analysts are the guys who know WHY the draft order is going to be the way it is. Then they tell the GM and coach WHAT the draft order could be based on that. Then the GM and coach explain their pick to the owner so he can buy into the idea. The order and the why of it are lost at that point. With each move up the ladder the idea is simplified.
@@IamJdTrent most definitely! I think he just has to get HIS quarterback and he’ll be fine! He’s working and making the most of someone that he didn’t choose but I believe after this year, he’ll get his guy if DJ can’t get his sh*t together.
Agree. He’s a good head coach. If Jones doesn’t workout the Giants should still keep Daboll. He knows the capabilities of his players & game plans accordingly.
So it's clear the Giants and Vikings wanted Drake Maye. So many factors come into play regarding a QB's success but the next few seasons should be interesting. The is the most behind the scenes probably ever seen for a draft.
Can we please get more of this behind the scenes content on ESPN or somewhere instead of listening to the same panels talk about the sane 5-10 topics? This is excellent stuff.
@@newdayhomebuyers9799 Should have. They'd be an even better team right now if they had, and could be an early NCF championship game contender, rather than a possible 1st round exit to a wild card team.
McCarthy rumors were all smoke and mirrors, giants had no interest in him and guess didn’t do enough to impress at 6. Alt was never in the equation. And seeing bowers as the safety pick at 9 is reassuring
People missed that they said “if the 3 QBs we are gonna stay and turn the card in”. They wanted Daniels, but if the others fell to them moving back was the option. Not taking Maye, or maybe that’s just my hopes that they wouldn’t take him.
@@NYgiants88 Keenan is a 1 year rental and the bears like their LT Braxton Jones. Never heard any serious reports of the bears being interested in Alt. There was plenty of reporting regarding the bears thinking very highly of Rome. Again, bad Intel by NYG front office

I wanted the Pats to trade with the Giants… we could have had Nabers or Alt plus a first and a second next year? I like Maye but he’s too young to tel what he will be I think that was a gamble for us. I love the Nabers pick for the Giants though.
All that means nothing until they realize they need a high talent at signal caller. You can’t win they way this offense is constructed. They balked every year for 10 years at taking a signal caller and look at where they are. They absolutely don’t understand what teams need to do to get to the top!
So much guess work……. And then your starting running back leaves for in-division rival and catches you with your pants down once again. TOO COMPLICATED. 😂
@@joshramirez7 I mean he was also right about the chargers and titans taking tackles. Only thing he was for sure wrong on was the falcons but who saw that coming lol
That Saban comment was unwarranted for the room. Saban picks the best two SEC opponents on the board at skill positions. Saban never played v Harrison or Odunze. So why bring it up? This is a NFL draft not a SEC draft.
@@buddhastl7120 Prob because Saban is the greatest coach in history and 2 of the players on the board are Nabers and Bowers. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
Let me rephrase your comment as a thought/comment by Daboll so you understand how utterly hilarious it is - "I'm not going to call Nick Saban - one of the greatest football coaches in history and my former boss who I have a friendship with - to inquire about the most elite players his Bama team had to play against. It seemed to make perfect sense because half of our first round board is Bama opponents and Bama players, but that would be SEC bias though. Instead I'm going to call coaches outside the SEC that I potentially have no relationship with to see what they think about "________" from other conferences. That's much more fair." If your comment was a troll then well done! I took the b8.
@@EulogyfortheAngels you reply-guys should wear helmets to breakfast. Absolute muppets. It’s okay if you fail to comprehend what I said. But replying like imbeciles takes the cake. My point was they’re in a crucial discussion with millions on the line about 5 or 6 players. End of discussion this guy stating that he had a brief chat with Saban and Saban said the 2 of a handful he played against were problems for their opposition. Now…since this went right over your muppet heads, I’ll elaborate just once. Try and put your thinking cap on. It was a quick phone call in a car ride. Did he ask Saban his thoughts on Alt, Odunze, etc? Did he ask exactly what separates Nabers from Odunze? Did he ask exactly how much better Saban feels Bowers is than other TEs in the draft? Did he ask Saban is Bowers that elite that he justifies top 6 $$ at a position few are paid highly that the pick will command? Add dozens of other questions needed for this context. The answer to all of these is implied NO. He had a brief chat on the phone like he said. So back to my point which I thought was obvious but the special kids needed to read. This conversation had millions of dollars on the line and the ramifications were massive. All in that room could be fired if they make the wrong choice. Hence bringing up a casual and brief convo with Saban after the discussion is mostly over is absolutely foolish and uncalled for. If he wanted to add that piece of info into the convo it should have been discussed at length and into the greatest detail. Of course Saban is a great reference. It would be quite beneficial for the team to hear his opinions in extent. However, a random comment about how Bowers and Nabers were problems adds hardly any significance for this convo. Of course they were problems. They are perceived top 5-10 picks 🤡 Now if you can’t comprehend this I don’t know what else to tell you other than go away, keep your helmet on and enjoy coco puffs.
@@EulogyfortheAngelsRU-vid deletes my replies. I’m going to try and be very simple here. Read very slowly and put your helmet on. Of course Bowers and Nabers were problems. Every top 10 pick is in college. It’s why they’re considered the best players on the board. Adding a brief convo with Saban only stating this offers little if no value to the room. Also, of course Saban is a great asset. But he didn’t ask Saban any follow-ups needed for such an important decision. Such as…what separates Nabers from Odunze? How much better is Bowers than other TEs in this draft? Where would you rate him with elite TEs currently in the NFL? Does Bowers warrant 6th overall $$ at a position only a few TEs currently command? There’s probably dozens of other follow-ups obvious to ask. You don’t bring up some casual convo with millions on the line and everyone’s jobs at stake. It’s feeble-minded to do so. If you want to discuss Saban’s opinions on their choice it should be done extensively and at length. And then ask yourself if Saban’s opinions on other options are viable since he never played against those players or if he may have a bias towards former opponents over other options he never faced.
@@CA_I then don't listen to it. not everyone speaks and communicates the exact same way you do, and its childish to act this way when hearing words you don't like.
Who’d to think that the Giants best rookie wasn’t even drafted Due to the QB situation, I doubt Nabers will have a great rookie year The rookie to keep an eye on is Elijah Chatman
Ok, i get it, cursing can be effective for emphasis but why is the Giants head coach dropping F bombs every time he's on camera. Is he really that foul mouthed all the time?
@@litedawg Missu was the only team I saw bracket Ladd..don’t know why nobody else figure that one out. Bama managed Man on him, but he was hurt at that point.
Nick Saban was having problems with a young players of this generation with the new NIL deals they are making officially, because of which he lost his monopoly? Who wouldn’t?
A head coach that accomplished absolutely nothing sitting with his feet up with GM and owners meeting. If that doesn't tell you how much of a douche Daboll is, I don't know what else can. Guarantee he'll be gone either this season or the next. He is an average Coordinator at best but definitely way over his head as HC.
Nabers was NO PROBLEM for the best defense in the country in FSU. Shut him down and pacified him one year after doing the same to Boutte (slowly becoming a nobody)
Personally. If I don't see Jones replacement up there. I'm trying to get rid of that six pick. JJ would have been a good pick. Jones has gotta go. Bottom line for the g men.
@checkdown3774 Jones hasn't shown much but that doesn't change that the situation there for the next QB wasn't a good one. Restarting with no Barkley and a questionable OL and receivers is a wash. They may need a QB but they're on the hook for Jones money, they may as well let him keep the driver seat warm for the next guy and improve the surrounding skills
@@checkdown3774 interesting theory. Also interesting is the fact that the teams that field decent offensive lines and receiver units keep "lucking" into finding QBs. Hmmmmm
Why do they act like they didn’t already know that Nabors and Bowers gave the best football team in the country “problems”? Anytime a player consistently gives Alabama defense a problem, scouts, coaches and GMs know about it. He didn’t have to talk to Saban and relay that info in this scenario. So dumb. Is anything authentic anymore or is hardknocks the kardashians now?
Just shows how stupid this GM is !!! Like this guy is so dumb !!! He will be fired probably b4 the end of the season. He’s gonna be thinking he’s safe but nope he ain’t. I have inside info and the owner is just trusting the process but he knows very well If they suck, there getting a top 3 QB. In my opinion this team will be the 1st pick. Also I was told he would be stoped if he tried to do a deal for the 3rd and 4th. That would of never happened. The owner didn’t like that at all. You get way more for that type of trade. Anyway just except this team to clean house by week 9 and be on. There on a short leash though so it may be sooner. That’s a source that has been 100% correct. Also I’m told the GM is the main issue but still will clean house.
Can't say i agree with this because if Cousins is as good as ppl think he is. We should be drafting in the 20 to 32 range. Within 2 years or so we will need to grab our QB of the future to replace Cousins. Going from the 20's to the top 5 for a QB talent thats worse than Penix as the next few classes aren't as good as this one imo. Is going to cost atleast what the Panthers gave up for Young or more. Im more than happy taking a better QB prospect and letting him sit a year or 2 to learn with 1 pick. Than giving up 2 or 3 1st's, 2 2nd's, and a player like AJ Terrell. Which is what value Panthers gave up for Young. To me all those picks are worth way more than just that #8 pick and a Dallas Turner.
@@Falconsriseup and Penix is already 24 so he will be 27ish when he takes over. If he is average for a year - then his contract is up. Bijan will be done his best years and well…just mad weird pick.
