Police say the former Atlanta police officer who admitted to shooting and killing his Lyft driver thought the man was a member of a “gay fraternity” and was trying to recruit him and kidnap him, according to a witness.

Uber and Lyft driving is incredibly dangerous and I hope I never have to do it. Regularly having strangers in your car, not knowing if they are violent or have a weapon, is such a vulnerable scenario. I’m guessing these companies take no responsibility for the safety of their drivers since they seem to be passing all the costs of doing business onto them.
