Mandy I work with ems and police. Legally you have to stay at the scene of an accident. Giving your name isn’t good enough. You could give a random name and there wouldn’t be any proof unless you stayed
No one is talking about the fact that the deceased was driving, at night, down a pitch black country road with NO LIGHTS ON! Why isnt anyone talking about that? Chris shouldn't be the only one demonized. It was a horrible accident no doubt. Just remember there are always 2 sides of all stories.
@@AkSonya1010 How do you know there was no light or reflection on the tractor? There is no witnesses? He ran because he most likely was under influence of alcohol or drugs.
@@alexanderl9985 UGH! see now I know you don't know anything about this case. It was part of the case, it's a fact. There was a witness and there were multiple witnesses before he left. Did you even watch this interview? He left AFTER the parametric arrived. I'm done with you, troll somewhere else.
The truth?!?! He didn’t say the truth. He lied. I know Chris...a lot of us do. This whole Chris that you see on TV is NOT Chris. 😂 he’s a drunk and it’s known. If he didn’t have mom and dads money and daddy helping him not get in trouble you would see who the real Chris is. Whitney broke up with him because of his drinking and his inability to keep it in his pants. 🙄
@@alexanderl9985 what crime scene evidence? I have followed since the beginning and never heard anything like this, don't start BS rumors for nothing. Both families have endured a lot.
@@AkSonya1010 He left before police could talk to him or check him out. Does that sound like a innocent person? what has the other family endured? how dare you.
@@alexanderl9985 You're an ass and clearly a lier; I never asked what the family has endured. I am confident they have gone through a lot. One thing most people don't think of, both families are neighbors and life long friends. Everyone being so cruel is not helping the situation. Chris didn't do this on purpose; it literally was an accident.
Just to play Devil's Advocate I mean if he was really trying to like flee the scene he would have left before the paramedics came he wouldn't have worked on the guy he wouldn't have talked to several people .they found him easily since he gave them his name. I just honestly don't see how this is even a fleeing the scene situation
@@kathyjacobson76 yep...i dont care if hes a "great guy"..he drinked and drived and somebody died... I lost my cousin in 2006 to a drunk driver...that drunk driver was a cop...the cop got no time whatsoever...crazy that people think its ok...smh
@@thestormchasingconservativ6999 I was being sarcastic. Chris Soules deserves jail time. We all know he was intoxicated. He got away with murder in my own opinion. So yes I definitely agree with you. I hope he carries the guilt for the rest of his life. Then I read today he was back in Los Angeles in the audience of DWTS. Wth
He did all the right things. Once paramedics got there he left. My heart hurts for that family of the man but I don’t think this guy should be in trouble. If he left scene without calling 911 or helping then yes, but he did all he could. My prayers go out to both men.
He's not innocent though, he hid in someone's house, refused to talk to police until they had a warrant knowing that would buy him HOURS to sober up, he refused to volunteer his blood tests results, made plans to flee the country which is why they made him surrender his passport and placed an ankle monitor on him... do any of these actions sound like the actions of an innocent man involved in a clear cut accident that could've happened to anyone? Me thinks not.
It was an accident ppl that’s crazy how this can happen to anyone in the country it’s pitch black and no lights on his tracker that unsafe how can anyone see you. Both could of died since the tractor didn’t have lights?? If a tractor didn’t have lights ride it only during the day.
FACTS: He WALKED AWAY from the scene leaving truck (with beer cans behind.) He called his parents. CONCLUSION "ALLEGEDLY": He was hiding in cornfield when he called parents. They showed up. He got in their car and drove him away. If he is in his house (and had been drinking) he does not have to answer the door because police do not have a warrant. When sober, the next day, he answers the door and speaks to police. But answers no questions because he is already represented by an attorney. His BAC would then be .00 because of the passage of time. NICE WORK, CHRIS. A nice man is now dead.
Maybe he shouldn’t have been driving on a dark road in a tractor with no lights on. Now a nice guy has to live with the trauma of accidentally killing another person due to their own stupidity.
ChampagneTasteOnABeerBudget But, He didn’t cause the accident or get arrested. And were the mans lights off? Whole thing is sad. Hope he wasn’t drunk, if so, he has to live with it. He did call for help and do CPR. Didn’t sound drunk on phone or to witnesses.....
Who were the 4 people to testify to him not appearing drunk? The 2 EMS workers (who were focusing on a dying man) and his 2 parents? IF he hit his head so hard and was injured why not ask EMTs to help him and call a 2nd ambulance to check him out?
@@kevin6293 No he wasn't. It was a shared wotk car that had empty vessels of alcohol: www.etonline.com/news/216297_chris_soules_wasnt_drunk_at_scene_of_fatal_car_crash_sources_claim_allegedly_left_with_relative
These farm accidents happen more than we know. The tractor had no business on the road in the dark without its lights on. If no lights than he should have a travel car to let people know he is there. There are no street lights. It was a horrible accident and the only reason it made the news was because of his name. Very sad.
GMA is disgusting for airing this pity piece. "Who drove you home, Chris?" "Did you walk home?" "Can we see the transcript of what your parents testified to?"
Christopher Johnson- Yes that is very true, but in that circumstance he probably should not have been driving anyways. Either way it’s just sad a life was lost, I suppose it doesn’t matter is Chris was under the influence or it was a human mistake (because that does truly happen). It’s hard to know unless you are the person.
Always smart to call a lawyer no matter what. It’s not an admission of guilt. Accidents happen, people always want to blame but sometimes it’s just an accident. People don’t always know when it’s okay to leave or if they should stay, especially if emergency personal are already there. If you are in a serious accident and shook up you may not be thinking clearly. If you see someone in this situation and they want to leave please tell them it’s best if they stay.
Chris seems like such a great guy and I'm sure he's traumatized by this. I hope he seeks out effective trauma help since EFT tapping could release that horrible grip on his life (including PTSD). I wish the same for the family of Kenneth Mosher. Accidents happen but there are amazing tools to resolve the after effects. Wishing you well Chris.
@Arise Now I'm curious why, but my point was that trauma can be released and tapping has brought peace to MANY in a variety of situations--including trauma. Effective use is a skill & expertise--especially for something big like trauma.
Leaving the scene doesn't mean you first stayed and helped do CPR. Leaving the scene is running like a coward Shock is a terrible thing, I don't think he was thinking straight at all Unless you've been through a tragedy like this you shouldn't judge He did call emergency and he did CPR to try and help
@@braneden Reading that comment "rocket scientist" stands out If the drunk driver that broke my neck hadn't hit my car and 3 other cars (some survived some didn't) maybe I could have been a rocket scientist. And I've been through similar and not everyone acts the same due to shock so I choose forgiveness instead of commenting and insulting people that i do not know. I'm so grateful I don't live my life being so judgemental rude and ignorant
I’m well versed on the law, and I would have thought it was okay to leave the scene. He called the police, tried to help the guy then waited for EMS to get there
You might be well versed on the law but you're obviously not well versed on suspicious behaviour... this guy not only left the scene, he barricaded himself in someone's home, refused to let authorities in for HOURS until they got a warrant, didn't volunteer his blood test results either AND the police had to place an ankle monitor on him and make him surrender his passport because previous to his arrests he was making plans to flee the country... why? if it was just an accident and it was so clear cut, why behave like you've got something to hide? In my opinion, an innocent man who was involved in an accident as clear cut as he's making it seem in this interview wouldn't behave the way he did. Something doesn't add up here but fame, money and a good lawyer can fix anything for people like this man.
@@kiemgallagher9670 Where do you come up with this BS? His attorney told him to wait for the warrant and nowhere have I heard he was going to leave the country. I highly doubt that's true.

You are so not well-versed on the law if you think it's okay to leave the scene before talking to responding officers after you have just killed a man. If I see you do it, I'm not allowed to leave the scene. Why would it be okay for YOU to leave the scene when you're the killer?
The farmer had no lights on. Which makes him invisible to all. The farmer is clearly the one who caused the accident. They said in the video that was a fact.
Maybe he saw Chris swerving - you’re supposed to turn your head lights off because they drive toward the light when drunk - so we don’t really the whole story
Reese Witherfork Lol. Geesh. That's a bit of a stretch. I've never heard in my life drunk people tend to go toward headlights. I sincerely doubt that's why the old man had his lights off. Either way, it wasn't like it was a hit and run! Or like Chris didn't try to help the man. He gave him CPR and called 911 and waited on EMT's and talked to them before leaving.
He got away with murder.....even though it was an accident he should have been held responsible. He paid them off with a monetary settlement but he got nothing else. I feel so bad for that hard working man's family.
He was drunk and left the scene. This is absurd on ABC's part for interviewing him as the victim. He left the scene because he was scared. That is some really weak integrity. How did they interview him like a victim? Take this crap down!!! Could have been anyone's cans?
He tried to help...the Police & Ambulance were on the scene...Chris was scared & goes home..but because the man passed away. He got arrested ?! It was an ACCIDENT. Yes the man died & that's horrible. But again. It was an ACCIDENT
He was a leading role for The Bachelor. Ironic with ABC recently under heat for passing on a character like Big Mike. The man who died in this accident was also a veteran.
Praying that both Chris, the Mosher family and Chris's family find peace in this horiffic "accident". He also suffered a concussion so I'm sure he wasn't thinking clearly at the time, but he did help the poor guy and was not guilty of anything else but leaving before the police got their. If you live in a rural farm community, you definitely would know how this could happen to anyone, so judging here is not the way to go. Let's have some compassion here and quit judging. I am sure if it happened to you, you would want the same.
I really do feel bad for the family that has this horrible loss but chris feel bad for him too. The only reason he received so much hate was because of him being in public eye.
Either this guy was drunk at the scene and chose to leave to avoid being arrested for a DUI and other serious offenses, making him a phony and a piece of trash; or he's being honest and that farmer really did not have any lights on his tractor and wasn't paying enough attention to notice an oncoming vehicle. Both outcomes are tragic.
@@treasureseeker8489 Well it seems that many others are jumping to their own conclusions, hopefully they can get that witness to testify as to what actually happened.
Stacy Castello get the fact your negativity is pointless! Get a life! Always been in social media for negativity regardless the truth of the story are u drunk 😵?? Don’t u understood?
@rosdon87 wth r u talking about? His security came and got him and took him home! He was literally home for 2 hrs before the cops were called by someone in his house.
I don't believe him, something about this is not right. Why would you be dumb enough to drive around with a bunch of empty alcohol bottles in the truck? I would never leave the seen of an accident, I think he had something to hide
He was definitely drunk and fled the scene. Killing someone while driving drunk is worse (and gets you more time) than accidentally hitting them fatally. ITS THE LAW TO STAY AT THE SCENE UNTIL THE POLICE GET THERE! Stop excusing his bad behavior because he’s attractive. The law is the law.
K D yeah totally a drunk driver. So drunk that he stayed and attempted to administer CPR, spoke to several people and witnesses, and gave his name out freely.
@MaryRowe I agree. I thought leaving the scene was synonymous with hit and run or making an anonymous call and fleeing. Is it clear that the latter isn’t the case? Either way, whether the idea being communicated is that he didn’t intentionally try to skirt around some sort of consciousness of wrongdoing,... there’s something “off” with him here... he’s not being completely forthcoming and honest, (seems to me).
Headlines are awful. Wtf. How do the people who write them live with themselves. Publishing a misleading article online should be considered cyber bullying.
He never left the scene before rendering aid and telling law enforcement who he was . 4 witnesses to the accident, who DID NOT know Chris, swore under oath in depositions that Chris had not been drinking nor acted like he was under any type of drug or alcohol . He almost went through the windshield of his own truck . Had a concussion . This was an unavoidable accident where a tragedy happened and a man lost his life . There is no-bad guy here just a horrible accident . Didn’t you people read the “people magazine “ article on this ? I commend Chris for speaking out on this and having the courage to discuss his part . Certainly wasn’t easy .
I'm confused by this. He did call and he gave aid. When paramedics arrived he left. What are the guidelines for this? He evidently left before police came. Was it possible that he felt it was handled?
For those commenting that this piece seemed to side with him or treat him as the victim.. well The Bachelor franchise is ABC's baby, isn't it? They don't want this stain on any of their contestants, let alone someone who has played a lead.
He had prior dwi's. The fact he went home for hours makes me believe he had been drinking and got sober at home. Who goes home before the cops get there when someone you just hit dies. It's annoying AF how his top lip gets stuck on his teeth. Put Vaseline on those teeth
@YES WE CAN If he wasn't drunk and had nothing to hide why did he hide in the house and wouldn't talk to the cops without a warrant? He refused a breathalyzer test. He waited until the next day to talk to cops. He even admitted in an interview he had a problem with drinking before. But looks like he still did at that time.
You don't leave the scene of an accident if you have nothing to hide. And he still isn't taking responsibility for his actions. He's sitting here trying to paint himself as a victim. What a scumbag.
What he did was an accident. By his account the tractor had NO lights, and if you have ever been in a dark ass rural Iowa road, which is almost everywhere, and especially if that road is hilly, you know how this is possible. Tractors go soooo slow, the victim also should have known better not to have any lights on, and he might not have been wearing his seat belt. So yes I’m sorry that he died, but to put all the blame on Soules for the mans death is incorrect. He is a dumm for leaving, it looks really bad.
I can’t imagine the profound guilt he must feel. To take a life by ACCIDENT...I can’t even imagine. It would ruin me if this happened to me. That’s one of the reasons I’m afraid to drive.
He’s wants to meet with the family two years later to heal together? I’m sorry but how would witnesses in a field know whether or not someone has been drinking? Not every person who drinks is falling all over the place and slurring their words.
Give him a break...he wasn't drinking, he left the scene & that is ALL he was charged with..he didn't cause the accident...no judgment here..Good luck Chris, you are a decent guy!
I hope he is clean and sober now. Driving under the influence can take the lives of innocent people. "That evening was just as normal as it always is...." The alleged real story ... I had been drinking all day so I left the scene of the crime after I called 911 because I wanted to wait until the alcohol wore off.
He appears to be lying. I'm not sure. He did what he could to save the man and yet I don't know how culpable he was in the man's death. Most farmers don't drive a tractor in the dark. If he's guilty he'll have to live with that. Some people are able to shake their guilt off and some can't. 3 hrs is long enough to metabolize alcohol though.
Wasn't his fault the dude was driving without lights. I don't think he should do time for that. He made a bad decision but he rendered aid and called for help. He couldn't have done more
He's hiding the fact that he had alcohol in his system, so he left the scene that way he wouldn't get charged with manslaughter. Those witnesses are his friends lying for him.
Upon coming out of an unconscious state, Chris did approach the man on his vehicle and while doing compressions he counted them out loudly-consistently and cohesively while speaking with 911 operators. So the man driving a tractor had no lights on in the dark. I probably wouldn’t have seen him. Chris get arrested for what-calling 911 and attempting to save his life? SMH
So...He’s the one that called 911. He spoke to the operator. He checked on the guy and tried to revive him, himself. He was not charged with causing the accident. He left when the paramedics got there and took over, not before. I honestly think he didn’t know what to do. I don’t know about the alcohol and stuff. He may have been drinking 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know. But if he was for real trying to flee the scene because of that, wouldn’t he have done it way sooner? Like not even gone through all those steps first, including waiting for EMS to arrive? I think the media spun this to make it look like Chris caused the accident and he didn’t, and reports made it seem like he just left the man to die which is also untrue.
He was unconscious which means his brain was affected in some way from the crash. He probably wasn’t thinking clearly. He called 911 and tried to help so he wasn’t hiding. The farmer was driving down the road with no lights on which means he was invisible to Chris. The fault of the crash is the farmer.
People run who under the influence. He was knocked out and came too. His speech wasn’t slurred when talking to 911. I kinda understand getting freaked out and being terrified and just leaving. Bad decision though
No way he should have been arrested!!! So after paramedics get there, and you leave your name and info, there is no reason to put up a tent for an extended stay.
he seems like he has no remorse... toward the end. 'charges with leaving the scene' i see this a lot as a nurse. How the hell can you not see a tractor from the SUV in the afternoon. I've lived in a few rural communities I'm 100% sure that they covered for him why did it take hours to arrest him in a place where there's very few houses I'm sure the neighbor just said he had been drinking
So he kills someone, leaves the scene and gets 2 years probation,WTF,where is the justice for that family let alone the man who died, thus bachelor should be in prison....end of story!!!
Wondereagle. Obviously, "YOU" ARE A STUPID, IGNORANT, UNEDUCATED DUMBORAT!!!! YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR NAME TO "FARTVULTURE"!! THERE IS TOO MUCH AIR AND NO BRAIN BETWEEN YOUR EARS!!!!

So many questions concerning this matter 🤔 ...So the 66 year old man driving the tractor had zero lights and was driving in a country road at night in the DARK, and if so was it pitch black and how could he see driving a tractor without any lights ?? I’m curious to hear the 66 year old man’s family side of the story, I’m sure they raised some interesting questions of their own.
At 4:23, did he chuckle about living with this for the rest of his life??? Doesn’t make any sense. Why was he driving in the dark with no lights on? And why leave when you know the cops are coming? Why wasn’t he charged with open containers? Doesn’t matter that people said there was no alcohol involved, there were still empty containers. And since when have witnesses become experts on determining if alcohol is involved? He may not have been so drunk to be visibly impaired, but he could have been drinking. Which could have affected his judgement and driving abilities.
It sucks, but he didn't get away with anything that other 'celebs' have gotten away with; Matthew Boderick, Rebecca Gayheart, Brandy, Caitlin Jenner, Venus Williams, Laura Bush, Ted Kennedy have all killed people in car accidents. At least Soules got a conviction.
