U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall imposed the sentence Monday for Burke, who was convicted of racketeering, bribery, and other counts. CBS 2 Political Reporter Chris Tye is joined by Legal Analyst Irv Miller at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse.

I can only imagine all the illegal, shady, back stabbing deals he knows about all the way back to the 1950's. He essentially got pulled over for 70 in a 55 and took the ticket because he had 3 bodies in the trunk and didn't want to give the cop a reason to look further.

Interesting that this man alone is being charged and convicted - conspiracy usually involves others. Also, he's 80 and has served almost 50 years, means this has been going on for a while - involving a Lot of people and businesses. This doesnt look like justice - this looks like scapegoating an elderly man while his long time co-conspirators go scot free.

Two years that’s it. This is a nonviolent felony, and I guarantee you that this man will not even do eight months in custody in a minimum security hotel. The former public officials gets fined $2 million but he probably took at least $50 million over the course of his career. This is a pretty lucrative job. What they should have done is taken away every penny this man has plus his pension, if he has one
