Definitely does leave one speechless. An absolutely glorious masterpiece. I watched the Soprano section because I was Soprano 1 in H.S. Choir and we sang this often. Mad respect & my jaw dropped at Dan hitting those high notes. His version once again has become my favorite.

Thirteen years ago, Dan recorded a song, "THY MAJESTIE - Siege Of Paris," by layering together four distinct vocal tracks. He captured the process in this music video.
Yes, I actually think really like that one. It really showed the way his mind worked and the way he thinks about and approaches music even all those years ago. I wish he would re-record it and juxtapose it against that one. What a young goofball he was, but so was the musical brilliance.
If he redoes it I hope he also re-enacts it, complete with jumping on (and off) the couch and grabbing the camera and running outside with it and arriving back just in time to sing his part. That was the best.😂
I have seen this before but just noticed when he was doing the high soprano part the "second" Dan looked at his watch 😂 Dan is simply masterful and you can tell he puts so much heart and joy in everything he does.

Dans touch of insanity. Dan has the magic touch,he knows how to pick his songs. I don't thinks I know not a bad one nowhere. I think he loves the challenges new music gives him. Seen several hundreds of his videos, looking for the next one.His brother Davi and friends are also in on the challenges too Lots more for you to do. Blind and frozen is good one too.

It took a lot of time and even some therapy to get to the point where I am comfortable with being me and showing it. This channel is a major part of that journey as I've learned that I am not alone in my challenges. Most important thing I can tell you is to keep talking about it. People do care and want to help those they love. You just need to communicate and ask for help. You can do it!
You have mentioned several times, that you are trying to contact Dan for an interview. A few months ago, Dan said, that he has had to stop responding to all messages unless he knows the person. Apparently, he has had a lot of, in his words, Weirdos contacting him. He has even had to deal with stalkers. He said he is sorry, because he has always enjoyed communicating with his fans. I just thought I should let you know, so you don’t think he is simply ignoring you.
I wouldn't blame him even if he did ignore me ;). He's a busy man and he has every right to close it of to any degree he wants to. However... I'm not giving up. We'll see if I can manage to contact him at some point.
9:24 To answer your question on how many takes did this take…I don’t know where the commenter heard or read this…I haven’t come across the source material for this myself yet, but she said it took him more than 270 takes to get it just the way he wanted. Again, I can’t confirm if that’s actually true. (I had just assumed he did it perfectly in 24 takes before I read that.)

Just wanted to say... there are some nasty people out there who try to pass themselves off as Dan... I was one of the lucky ones who has gotten to talk to Dan once (years ago)... after that I started getting all these messages trying to tell me they were Dan .. and they want to talk to me I was special blah blah blah so I sent Dan a message with just a long number in it and that's how I leave out all these nutcases or whatever they are... because they couldn't tell me what was in the message or even how I sent it. Some even tried to get me to send them money. Dan would not do that, so be careful there are unscrupulous people out there who will lie through their teeth...
@margijohnson5728 on a lot of platforms they are doing that... wherever they contact you... they usually want you to talk to them on a different platform. Dan does not do the direct contact... too many kooks out there.... might get a ❤️ if something pleases him... but lots of those are fake too. So many dishonest people out there
Yes, sir, you are entirely famous, now, because of your love for Dan, because we are all right there with you, and tell on you! 😀 It's OK if he's "your Dan," because we can STILL all claim the same thing...without pulling him apart, even! I, too, have sung this song in a TON of different choirs. I would have been sitting up there in that top left corner (but not allowed to look at my watch...no no!!!). That would have been performance time. Before all that, through one rehearsal after another, I would have been helping ALL of the choir learn their parts, because I sight read, and I could actually hit ALL of the notes in every range. My range USED to be nearly six octaves. Now my next-highest range is getting pretty comfortable once again, and the highest notes are coming back, a careful few at a time, because of listening to and watching Dan! HALLELUJAH! (grin) SOOOOOO glad that you've done this one. HUGE GRINS here, all the way through. Dan has said that this was his "moment of insanity." Most of us have told him that if this was insanity, we are very happy to join him there. SO PERFECT! Loving that you occasionally lose track of your own skills while watching music. That makes all of the rest of us feel better when WE do that...more than occasionally, I think. Thank you VERY much for this wonderful reaction. Looking forward to whatever comes next. 😀
I've never sung this, but I've played it multiple times. It's not easy, but it's loads of fun. What Dan did is just mind boggling. Absolutely marvelous.
