In the 90s, i watched a french TV program. In that program, a charity was collecting clothes in France. Those clothes were then sold in west and central Africa. That charity was supported by the French Government. The tv presenter asked a french minister: "Do you realise that by selling those clothes in Africa, you are destroying the local economy, the local farmers? The minister replied: "Yes but that charity employs french citizens!" I remember thinking back then "How evil are you?" "You know exactly what you are doing to the local economy" On another note, a book by a former ambassador (Sylvain Itté) of France to Niger has been banned by the French Government.
