Yeah , as much as Heart is Ann and Nancy that original line up is Magic, man!

Michael Derosier is one of the most powerful and tight drummers to ever play . He is miles ahead of any of his replacements . He should have been a mega star. The guy is another Bonham.

The original line up was untouchable. It's too bad they couldn't keep it together longer.

Steve, Michael, Howard and Roger don't get the respect that they absolutely deserve. Seems like they were always over shadowed by Ann and Nancy. Those guys were just as important members, who very successfully contributed to what made Heart, Heart. Just my opinion, right or wrong.

Totally agree. HEART was not a duo with backing musicians.. Sales went down after Roger was fired in 1979..

The lead singer always overshadows everyone else. I wish those guys would have had more success post-Heart and created their own successes instead of their whole career being "formerly of Heart". Ann and Nancy, whether you like their material or not, they turned Heart from a sinking ship into one of the biggest bands in the world in the 80s and early 90s, and survival is something that only the rarest of the rare entertainers are able to do. The guys seem to resent that, but Ann and Nancy deserve credit for not fading away when the original band did. It's not always fair, but at the end of the day they're the stars.

Ann and Nancy really need to give the other members of Heart more credit. And I'm not just talking about the 70's era of Roger, Steve, Michael and Howard but also the 80's players of Mark Andes and Denny Carmassi too.

Mike completely copped out on his answer about the worst part of being in Heart. He spoke of a random event outside the band happening, the roof falling in.
@dpf5939
@dpf5939 Год назад
You're right about that. At the time of Private Audition, Derosier and Fossen felt the Wilson's were taking the band in a whole new direction. They kind of got away from the Heart sound of the previous albums. Micheal and Steve didn't think the fans would go for it. And losing Roger on lead guitar kinda hurt the band. I believe Micheal and Steve were let go from the band around the release of Private Audition in '82. The original line up was definitely the best. That album is one of my least favorites.

Good points by Steve Fossen: A band of extroverts doesn't last. Look at David Lee Roth's solo group with Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan and their drummer, whose name escapes me. All wild extroverts - it didn't last. Cream is another good example. There are plenty of "supergroups" that didn't last or never reached their potential. The funny thing is that James Chirillo (hopefully I spelled that right) was a member of Heart in the early days. He wound up playing with Benny Goodman and Wynton Marselles (sp?). You can find his videos here on RU-vid. Amazing guitarist. I would guess he is the person Steve is referring to when talking about a band member hoping to play jazz one day. James also teaches.

Let's face it Men in general have the tendency to focus on Women and in the 70's when women in Rock were not that known on stage and we saw Ann and Nancy well that alone and the first album covers Dreamboat Annie and Barracuda with them on front sold albums. I remember seeing those albums and you guys in the background like on the Little Queen album and had to open the album Dreamboat Annie to find out there were guys in the group. So advertising was a key factor then add Ann's vocals and Nancy's guitar intro on Crazy on you well the rest is history. Being men didn't give you the upper hand and to have remained so silent initially didn't help much either. Y'all should have belted out some lyrics like Robert Plant and distinguished yourselves. All that is history guys and your individual talents aren't forgotten from drummer to bass to electric you are the pump of ❤ 🤍 💙 🧡 🖤 ♥️ ❤ 🤍 💙 🧡 🖤 ♥️ HEART.

John should ask Fossen, Derosier, and Fisher about their time in the group Alias. From what I heard Roger Fisher say, the whole thing was a sham orchestrated by the record company.

It seems that Heart fractured all around? Nancy with her own band, Ann on her own?

With the combination of low record sales and broken romantic relationships there had to be a change. Nancy and Ann were up front and thats how the general public viewed them. My question to the guys would be your still getting royalties off of the recordings going on 50 years and youre in the R n R HOF.. Would you rather be Pete Best?

I heard Ann & Nancy say once they let Steve and Dennis go because they wanted more freedom of creativity (as if those two were somehow holding them back.) The next LP after the record company brought in outside writers. Sure there were massive hits but that "freedom of creativity" thing didn't exactly work out . I know a lot of their 70's fans thought their 80's stuff was pure crap. And the way they allowed themselves to be portrayed in videos was sellout at it's worst, not exactly "freedom of creativity".

The women in that band I'm sure were told they were the tip of the spear of the feminist movement & Ann Wilson has a lot of cats I hear.No wonder why.Unlike men the fairer sex seems to hold resentment a lot longer it seems.Let it go ladies,I mean you got all that money & fame.There's an old saying,"give a man a single room apartment,a microwave & an old TV with a coathanger attenae & he's happy.Put a woman in a mansion & she'll still find a way to be unhappy".
@TheJoan48

Written by a man of course. It's not all the girls' fault that the band broke up. Roger admitted he handled the stress wrong when he got a little carried away. Other people were smashing guitars then so I don't see why it was a bid deal. It was Roger's band too. What gave them the right to fire him out of his own band? Like Mike said, they should have taken a break way before anger took over. I wish they'd play again. We all miss them alot, the original band.
