Whats even more alarming is the majority of the average believer on the street have difficulties forming a personal opinion. Instead they just repeat the officially accepted and approved statements when they are asked for one. Its really facinating to observe.
Criticizing Islam is difficult everywhere in the world. I noticed this even in the West. For example, I have even been non-offensive, rational, and polite with Muslims I knew personally. When some are encouraged to read the scriptures and return later with their "peace" discussions, they act like I don't exist. Even this makes it very hard to have a civil conversation; I can't imagine living in a society where people are literally shunned, lynched, and punished for even criticizing a 1500-year-old ideology. There's a lot of gaslighting among Muslims. They want people to see a different reality than the one written about in the books.
I have found that Muslims can be very civil and rational about EVERY subject - except religion. The very mention of anything to do with questions about faith sends them into defensive panic mode.
To be fair, please resist the temptation to witness to everyone you meet. We’ve all heard of Jesus and we know where to find him. Just let them know you’re Christian and can answer any questions.
Yeah they always manage to exceed your expectations in how terrible they can be intellectually and in how they treat others (morally). The explanation is simple, they're not on the same page with you they're not interested in the discussion itself they feel it's an existential fight to defend religion so the 2 of you are in 2 different worlds. As another reply said the defensive panic mode makes logic, consistency and morality secondary or totally ignored. I'm not in the west though (Egypt).
@@freiheit3 , good points all. Muslims go into panic mode whenever Islam is challenged. They don't want to discuss; they feel that their very existence is being threatened. At that point logic, evidence, facts, and basic listening skills go right out the window. There is simply no common ground for the discussion. Muslims and Kuffar might as well be from different planets in reference to the subject of religion.
@@littlecatfeet9064 , "I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day." A famous line from a famous poem. Better to LIVE the Christian life that to simply babble about it.
Just be aware of what happened to Sherif Gaber, who is also a RU-vidr and a critic of Islam from Egypt. He was recently sentenced to 9 years in prison for criticizing Islam. Maybe it's smarter for him to move to a safer place and continue to do his good work from there
Right, however Sherif is in hiding, not in prison (which is not very good either way). Some brave people stand up for a good cause and stand their ground to the end.
@@emz6133 Ofcourse he fears government repercussions, social lynching, violence and a lot more aggression coming from closed minded people. This is very common in muslim countries to people that dare speak against the religious narrative
If it wasn't for the genocide of the polytheist Arabs by Mohmmad and his companions and the creation, of an Arabian empire on the Arabian peninsula Islam would have been unlikely to have taken root or spread.
Where are you learning it from? Ahmed Sami? 😂 If you learned it from reputable people then you’d know why nearly 2 billion people not only buy into it but receive such peace and contentment from it. Ask any revert? You are the loser and one day soon , mark my words, you’ll find out.
Excellent interview. (I saw it back then but glad you uploaded it to this channel as it's worth seeing again!) btw yes المانوية is Manichaeism and when Islam spread to Syria and Persia, Muslims were met with many philosophical arguments from the peoples of those lands who were well versed in their classical traditions such as Manichaean & Greek ideas and so many Muslims had to find arguments against them by going down the philosophical route. But the scripturalists were against such a methodology. (Re Pre-Islamic poetry, my view is that much of it was a later fabrication and conveniently cited in tafseers to explain linguistic anomalies in the Qur'an.)
Taha Hussein, a famous Egyptian author and literary critic, made a similar argument in his book pre-islamic poetry and he was accused of heresy and atheism by al-Azhar
I am not a follower of the Church. Still, the moral consciousness of Jesus Christ in a violent Middle East 2000 years ago is way above Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon whole humanity). To preach non-violence in the Middle East 2000 years ago! Look at the Israel-Arab conflict now! "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" - Its a logical statement from Jesus Christ. You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." 39But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
The problem is that the Christians and Jews left the protection of their families and society entirely up to the government or others. In a civil society with laws that are adhered to, and where there is consequences for actions, your fellow citizen can be like your brother. In a situation like Khyber and later in Arabia and all across the Mediterranean and Middle East, where your civil society is being violently attacked, destroyed and subjugated with organized intent for caliphate, there is no longer brotherhood, no familial-type bond, even in humanity. Jesus did not espouse organized violence, but did not stay to allow his haters to throw him off the cliff in one instance, or allow himself to be taken by the corrupt religious leaders until he felt it was time for himself to be the sacrificial lamb.
You indeed expressed and explained what I wanted to say... Big thank you for this...!!!? When ot comes to JESUS CHRIST its totally opposite... Its all positive and totally opposite with Mohamad... Christ is purely PEACE, LOVE, HARMONY AND FREEDOM....
@@Melay-b4x If Palestinians and Israelis have followed some principles of Jesus, who is believed to be born in their region, there will be easy conflict resolution
It certainly is. Just compare the example of Jesus to that of Mohamad. And the Bible has things in it that have the capacity to redeem some of its harsher elements. For example the Gospel (John 4, 7-12) tells us that God is love, and that we must love one another like God loves us all.
Agreed. The morality that Christ taught is vastly superior to what you see in Islam. Judaism actually teaches similar morality, but most Israelis are not religious, and thus tend to ignore Jewish instruction on the matter.
Islam has virtually nothing to do with “God’s existence”. Islam is largely about praying 5 times a day (whether you like it or not) and dry fasting every day for a month in Ramadan (whether you like it or not). Debating with a Muslim about “the existence of God” is an exercise in futility. It means next to nothing to a Muslim if you simply “believe in God”.
@@TakaTinHey So true. Muslims actually worship Mohammed though it is something they will deny, Islam is a religion built around the cult like worship of a man who claimed to be a Prophet Mohmmad. They put him above, God.
Abdullah thank you for sharing! I’m an Arab and I tune into contents in both Arabic and English, I’m a big fan of Ahmad Sami! He’s amazing! I also like Kosay Betar, he’s a level-headed logical person. If you’re looking for a slightly different perspective (from a logical standpoint), then Kosay is your guy! Not sure he’d want to do an interview since he is not as active, but he really is great.
I hope Ahmed Sami’s safe. Concerning gratitude to the universal superpower: gratitude is important for us. Being grateful means you don’t take the good and beautiful things this life has to offer for granted. Gratitude makes you feel happier and more at ease with your life.

Mecca may not even have existed in the 600’s! There are no artifacts coming up in all the massive digging for construction in today’s Mecca!!! It might have been a tiny watering station. Most of the places mentioned in the writings of Muhammad were much farther north!!! See what Pfander films says! May not just be speculation or conspiracy.
@@EranRicos According to historical documents, the Khuzaa’h tribe from Yemen built Mecca in the 4th century AD [Al-Azraqi, Kitab Akhbar Makka, Vol. 1, p. 6]. The king Abu Karb Asa’d led this, who reigned over Yemen in 410-435 A.D, built the Kaaba similar to the Kaaba found in Yemen [A. Jamme. W. F, Sabean Inscriptions from Mehram Bilqis (Ma’rib), the John Hopkins Press, Baltimore, 1962, vol. III, p. 387]. Prior to this there is no mention of Mecca in any historical or archaeological records (and we have tens of thousands of epigraphical - stone inscriptions - evidence for much older towns, temples, trade routes, kings, etc in Arabia).
This was so thought provoking and valuable, I enjoyed every minute of it! I didn't know the term deist before, but actually I fall into this category also. Sometimes I read the Bible and go to church, but for me this is more to connect with tradition. This conversation has left me so much to ponder...
I have a question for the gentleman. What is more likely, that the 12 apostols where persecuted in different ways and places , not gaining money, fame beforehand or after, all for a lie ? For what end would they do that? Thank you, God bless ❤️☦️
The cosmological argument stems, as you said, from Aristotle, i.e. a specific brand of Greek philosophy and was taken up by Thomas Aquinas. So Christian apologists wouldn’t feel they were using an Islamic argument ;-)
I haven't watched this all yet Abdullah but just a sense to share - I bet this is going to be an educated and sophisticated video, and please can we have more of that? ! I feel, whether it is the algorithms, or the commentators themselves, so many social media accounts are getting sucked into a sort of 'catastrophic consciousness'. We are all being cajoled into 'taking sides', more and more it seems? I mean, headlines like "We're all doomed !", or super simplistic analysis that you know well, like - all Muslims are secret Taqiyya people - or whatever -. I just want to say I really appreciate the commentary that bring humanity to Islam. I don't want Muslims 'monstered', I do want Islamist fanatics to start thinking, and feeling, for themselves? And, as you probably know, I regard the questioners, the 'Ex' Muslims as the progressive Muslims. It helps me explain to my liberal friends that there is a growing movement in the Islamic world away from blind adherence to set behaviour patters. I don't think this is the end of the world, I think maybe for Islam it is the start of a thaw? Anyway, just posting in support of what you generally do, have sophisticated, many-sided chats with people about the very complicated contemporary sociology of Islam. Well done !
We need to stop arguing if Jesus died on the cross and start discussing why. He was a moral genius, nothing in written history can compare to the Sermon on the Mount as guidance for morality for all times.
Keep in mind that many NT scholars doubt that Jesus ever actually gave this (famous) sermon. It's not found in the earliest gospel, Mark (why not?) nor is it mentioned in the writings of Paul which pre-date Mark (why not?). It's ONLY found in Matthew, Luke and John do not mention it (again, why not?). So, Matthew, written some ~50 years after Jesus, is the only text which produces this very long (three chapters - 111 verses) collection of Jesus sayings. Would you believe any other text if it produced a speech of someone who lived 50 years ago while other texts who wrote about that person never bother to mention it? It's possible that Jesus said some of these things at some time, but it's also possible that the author of Matthew, who has a specific theological message, invented some sayings - this was a common practice in ancient world if you look into it, where philosophers or historians would put "speeches" on the lips of people that they were writing about.
The talk about the holy shield around the 26 minute mark reminds me of 'The Outsider Test for Faith', by John Loftus. He describes it as a variation on the Golden Rule: "Do unto your own faith what you do to other faiths." So you apply the same scepticism to your own faith as you do to the beliefs of all the other faiths.
Judaism doesn't think so much about the afterlife. Many Jewish communities believe that the way to the next life is to make this world tommorw as much heaven like as possible. If we make this world better we can turn it to heaven, if we make it bad it will be hell.
@@theallseeingeye9388 Hi He'll doesn't appear in the Torrah at all. There is some underworld but it is told only when one of the sinners in the dessert falls into it. The next life also isn't in the torrah. The concept of next life (heaven and hell) appears in the last books and in the books outside the bible from the time of Jesus. I haven't read them buy from what I know, this world is the most important one. Even if the goal is to get to heaven as a different world the way to get there is to make this world as much heaven like as possible.
This person was accused of murdering a woman in Egypt from whome he recieved money and give her marrage promises. Those accusations were circulating about him three years ago. I cant confirm or deny those acusatins. All i hope is he will be met with his fair retribution.
The arguments he makes in this video are still very valid and reasonable regardless. Secondly, muslims and Islamist should be the last people on earth to point out what a person did in order to discredit what that person is saying. Their Prophet would fail spectacularly under those standards.

Meaning, Sunni Islam is exposed? The Islam of Umar, Abu Bakr, Uthman, Abu Sufyaan, Mu'awiyah and Yazid, I imagine. Well, that debate INTERNAL to Islam has existed for 1400 yrs!
Islam is what Muslims make of it. As far as religions are concerned, it's pretty difficult to argue against the concept of God in Islam. This gives the average Muslim false confidence in assuming the rest of the religion is as reasonable and benign as the pure monotheism it promotes. With that said, the religion "Islam" doesn't have to be seen as an existential threat, but this depends on whether average Muslims are willing to be self-critical and independent thinkers instead of being sheep led by bigoted tradition and ancient scholarship. I hope the ex-Muslim movement will provide a much-needed shock to stimulate a change in Muslim thinking. I recently saw an orthodox Sunni Muslim scholar criticizing our Caliphs of the past as bloodthirsty men, and this was honestly a refreshing view from a Sunni scholar. However, pressure and education must continue until it's normalized for average Muslims to reject and openly acknowledge the crimes of the past and the root causes of bigotry and intolerance without making excuses/justifications for them.
I live in the US and Muslims seem to be pretty happy here, and you rarely hear about any kind of problems. And I wonder why it's such a different situation in Europe. There are a lot of Muslim immigrants to the United States also, many of whom are religious, and yet it's nothing like what's going on in European countries.
Interesting interview - very interesting he considers himself a deist! However, the discussion of Job was superficial. You should discuss this with a Christian schooler, like David Wood or Mike Winger. Otherwise good channel.

Genesis 1:27: "God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created Him; male and female He created them." God is more like humans than we think. Jesus is entirely unique because he is very different from a God we would picture...yet His teaching has impacted the world.
In Judaism we see the book of Job differently we see as a beautiful love story between Job and G.od who even after all the tragedies he lived he never lost faith and he regained everything he lost and more
Thank you brother for your bravery and courage. We as humans must all live in peace .... We must respect other religions but must not enforce ireligion on otgers or the ideology of any religion its a free choice all himans must have ......
He explained it as a bit confusing. The very conservative sects in Islam are very aligned with the Islamic scriptures, but that can not be the reason to leave Islam. If Islam is really from god, so he or she knows the best you need to obey even if you can not understand or you do not like it. All these signs, brutality, and viewpoints to humans, especially women, etc., should make you doubt it, but in the end, the confident way to be free from Allah's slavery sect is to study the Quran and see all nonsense and stupid fallacies.
It is not the question of not understanding though, if that was the case then it would be fine for most people. It is the question of something being complete nonsense. For example when you add up inheritence portions to more than 100%, obviously it is nothing about not understanding, more about the author not understanding basic math.
🕊🌹🌹 I admire the rationale thought process of Ahmed. Science has not been able to provide all answers. Reasoning that there is a God is acknowledging that humans don’t have an answer for all the things in this world.
Christianity came through the philosophical frameworks and moulded the doctrines sharper like neo-platonism which rewired St Augustine's mind which(the concept of light is all there is and darkness is not an entity) will destroy Islam anytime....
Excellent point by Ahmed at the 1h33m mark. He says that now he is open and can accept other ideas, and this is what I see most atheists do - I am an one and I can talk to and understand the viewpoints of others. For example, I can understand why Christians believe in their Trinity, even though I don't agree with it.
Before Muslims become ex-Muslims, they should seriously consider Nabi Isa who has been alive in jannah for the past 2,023 years and will return to be Judge Isa very very soon. Muhammad has bn dead in the grave for the past 1,391 years so Nabi Isa should be the Muslim's true last n final Nabi simply becos he is still alive today. Study Nabi Isa - his words, his actions, his teachings, his commands, his life in the Quran and especially in the Injil.
