There are people who say that they don't mind marrying a second wife, but they can't afford it. These men typically consider the age and looks of the women they might marry and often believe they're doing them a favor by having sex with them - even when it's unprotected. They might not take responsibility for any children that result from these encounters, but the women involved are left to deal with the consequences of their decisions. This can be particularly difficult for women who are already struggling with being unmarried and may carry the burden of these experiences for the rest of their lives.

Muslim woman defending this atrocity is like chicken defending KFC and saying KFC recognises the freedom of chicken to live. .

Did you know that some Saudi men travel to India, Thailand (the southern part), and Indonesia for what they call "short marriages" but it is prostitution? A lot of young women without proper knowledge of what they are getting into did not realize they left high and dry after a few days or months. These men usually travel in groups and they have agents in these countries. Even young children are engaged in these activities. Most wives do not know or they turn a blind eye as long as they are in marriage and as long the husband is not going to them as wives. They are shut up by their male mahrams and female relatives.

In "normal" Islamic marriage, there is no mention about the length of the marriage, BUT ...the husband can divorce the wife by saying "talaq" three times (the wife can not do that). So, in a way, normal marriage is worse because the wife can be divorced at any time by the husband while in misyar or mut'ah marriage, the woman understands that the marriage is temporary. At all of marriage types, the women only get paid by the dowry and some living allowance for food, accomodation, and receive nothing when divorced. So, the cost per sex can be much much cheaper than being with a prostitute.

The sad part that is not addressed is the transmission of all types of sexual diseases. The innocent wives at home get to bear this ugly burden.

And we are told that this religion is the best and must rule the world!!

Amazing video! I didn’t think it was possible to make Islam any worse for women. I was wrong! Growing up Sunni Muslim, I never heard about Misyar! The Misyar success story Dr. Qadhi told us about was pathetic and degrading. I would rather be single than in such a degrading situation.

I suspect that Yasir, having been forced to examine Islam through a western lens, left Islam in his heart some time ago but he, of all people, really wouldn't be able to be a public ex-Muslim. He would lose his livelihood and very possibly his life

The first question that comes to mind is - is the 2nd, 3rd or 4th wife to be aware that she is entering a Misyar Marriage? If so, then that is a risk both parties have assumed before entering into this contract. If not, then that is exploitative indeed. The burden of disclosure should fall upon the man entering this arrangement. The second question I'd ask is, if the woman knowingly enters into a misyar marriage, is she taking the necessary precautions to prevent unwanted pregnancy? Is the man taking precautions to prevent himself impregnating her?

Thank you very much for talking about this and I would like to add something more. Secret marriages are used to clean up statistics and give the impression that polygamy is way less common among Muslims than it actually is. It's definitely not only 1% of couples that experience that, like some argue. Just read an article on this topic and apparently in Germany it could be as high as 20-25% of Arab men that get a second wife. Usually the first wife knows nothing about it. It's very frustrating when I try to talk about it with Muslim women who don't want to admit how common this is, when every Muslim man has told me his father has two wives, or a relative, or a friend. In Egypt, this kind of marriage has been made formal and facilitated and it's called orfi, I guess because Hanafis don't always need the wali's permission. It's a sad situation 😞

There are many Arabs who come to Indonesia and 'marry' local Muslim women. For several hours, days, weeks or months (depending on the man). Then, because divorce in Islam is so easy (just say 'I divorce you' 3 times) the man divorces the woman... With suitable monetary recompense. I leave you to draw your own conclusions as to what kind of arrangement that was.

I cannot understand Yasir Qadi. Muslim scholars are supposed to be secretive about the flaws of Islam. Yet this man reveals it all and he is not harmed by the militant muslims😂 In Malaysia this practiced widely by the royalties and the wealthy Muslims.

One minor point: Yes men and woman all want sex, love, companionship etc. It isn't as binary as he wants to make it out to be. However, there might still be some play of biological differences between men and women, when we are discussing something where (literally) hormones are invovled. Oxytocin, estrogen and testosterone do have a role to play in thnigs like libido. It isn't just a matter of gender socialization - not purely, anyways. obviously, that doesn't mean we need to cling to medeival ideas about gender when thinking about how we want a legal and social insitutition to work.

I watched this a second time. Its mind boggling to know that such kind of marriage exists and it's so sickening to hear Yasir repeating (4 times) that it's technically halaaal but.... I think he tried to do it but the women he chose rejected him. If I were one of those women I would have rejected too cos he's not handsome enough to arouse me. Unfortunately, many muslim women are taught to accept the fact that men can practise polygamy, must satisfy the husband lust even when the wife doesn't feel like having intimacy, etc. I know many muslim women are like this because my muslim friends told me so. In my country there are many issues with divorced muslim women (were formerly married legally) couldn't get alimony from their husbands. Sure they could complain to the syariah court but it will still take a long time for them to get the case heard / get the alimony.

Now the government might reject the green card application if the find out but they won’t nullify the marriage.

Well I get where they are coming from actually. There is a website called Ashley Madison. The guy who started it said that the whole point of it is so that a person can be release their need to be sexual without breaking apart their family. Basically lets not have a marriage fall apart due to boring sex or no sex. As a woman I clearly would not accept this but I guess when both partners are in agreement it would make sense. But I do not think either Ashely Madison or Misyar marriages believe in being open about it with the previous or original spouse. It COULD be marriage saving but I bet it is extremely rare. The secret married in most cases is not between two people, that’s why is a secret. There is a first wife who suffers the most when the truth comes out and sometimes is not come out with the evidence ,but the first wife know that something is going on, the husband denies and call her crazy, until she actually become crazy from this situation.

In the West a wedding ring is the official sign that the couples are married, and it means from that point they are both entitled to 50/50 of the combined assets.

She would feel sad thinking about the wife being cheated on and betrayed because SHE would h@te to have that done to her. She'd feel very guilty for the betrayal of the little children of the real marriage, and what if she became pregnant and had no father for her children? They'd be brought up in sadness and shame, and feel second best. It's cruel, and she wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it. It's a fast track to depression and anxiety.
