I am a Japanese. Today is the tragic day for us because such events have not been happened since 1960s, when Abe‘s grandfather, who was also former Japanese prime minister, was hurt by a man. I am deeply saddened by what happened in our country. This is a threat to our institution. We strongly deny any attempts to attack our MPs and our democracy by weapon!

Japan is one of the safest country and this is the first time it happened after the longest period of time. Also specially Japan has EXTREMELY strict policy in attaining a gun... no one would expect that an ordinary citizen will make a handmade gun just to do this. RIP to the former PM...

He was shot with a home made "gun" in a country with some of the strictest gun laws in the world no amount of legislation or gun control would have stopped this evil will always find a way to do evil
True…..but this super strict gun laws have stopped kids mercilessly slaughtered on a regular basis & people can go to a Parade, the Mall, to Work, without fearing that they’ll be gunned down at any given moment like in the United States! The main problem is that they arrested him we have the same problem in the United States. Instead of executing the criminal since he was caught in the act up we reward criminals by giving them free shelter in a prison and free food. That sounds like a vacation to me.
Execution normally comes after the trial. It is sad that you wish for a country without due process. The people in power should just execute whoever they think does not deserve to live.
@@danielch6662 but as you can see our due process does not work. We have over 10,000 prisoners waiting 20 years to be executed when it only takes one second to do the job. There is no need for courts and jails since they don’t work and they only funnel money to lawyers judges in Bailiffs they don’t do anything for the people

Japan is one of the safest countries, I had to keep watching different coverage before I believed there was an actual gun involved. The police officers don’t even carry guns. That’s how safe that country is.
The original write of of this story said the shooter was standing right behind PM Abe while he was giving his speech. His security team failed him! smh. RIP and prayers to Japan 🇯🇵
Quickly tackled? I'm an American living in Japan. I count about 30 seconds after he fired 2 shots (the first seemed to have been a misfire), before police finally rushed him and took him down. The local news here reported that only 1 Special Police (Japan's version of Secret Service) was with Abe and that the other police were all locals and not trained for this duty. This event was also delayed they said and so security wasn't set up as it should have been. The assassin used a "gun" that is obviously homemade.
@@marjoriecoey3418 They had footage of Abe when he was PM and in his speeches then you can clearly see he's surrounded by security. In one clip an agent stands behind him facing outward. But yeah, no one thought this would happen...kind of. Every time we have a world leader come they remove all garbage cans from train stations and there are extra police at stations an major intersections for hundreds of miles around. Seriously, no joke.
I love the way how y'all managed to take this horrible incident and turn it into a gun rights issue and take a swing at the U.S. This was a full blown assassination by a HOMEMADE gun.

The wild part of all this is that the killer went to all the trouble to build his weapon. Word is that he may have used that 3-D tech to construct the thing. No matter what precautions, there's always some fool out there who's crazy enough, or hateful enough to try to take you down. Sympathy to his family and Japan. They are genuinely shocked. In the US, it's just another murder. No surprise. That's the tragedy for us, and no end in sight.

As an Israeli who once lived in Japan. I think Shinzo Abe ended his controversial life. But the killer's motives deserve further attention. Whether he is on the left wing of Japan or the far right of Japan. His actions will bring strong shock. Hopefully, Abe's death will not lead Japan into the abyss of evil like the deaths of Hirobumi Ito and Tsuyoshi Inukai.
