Shinzo Abe's maternal grandfather was Nobusuke Kishi, "Monster of the Shōwa era" (昭和の妖怪; Shōwa no yōkai), and a Class A war criminal whose charges were waived by the USA after WW2. And, Shinzo Abe himself was a right wing Japanese nationalist who held negationist views over the Japanese invasion of China, and had in turn visited Yasukuni Shrine shortly after stepping down from his premiership in 2020. So how would you expect the Chinese people to feel?

Yes, nobody deserves life taken away for what he/she believes in and Abe tried his best to have friendly relations with ALL countries while as PM. BUT Abe was a war crime deniar and cheerleader of its military past and that's a big negative of the man legacy . I suspect you aren't a descendent of one who suffered or killed under the Japanese occupation or you wouldn't have polished his pedestal shiny here. I know you are implying Korea and China when you say about him not being admired in these countries. Its laughable that you describe them as countries full of turmoil and lead by heads of state who are despised by others. For the record, both countries' leaders did respectfully send condolence messages to Japan and Abe's family but people on social media, like any other country, aren't so respectful. Abe was willing to shill for the US and tried to bring Japan back the glory of its military past by trying to change its pacifist constitution. The Japanese PMs who deserve your accolades should be Yukio Hatoyama and Tomiichi Murayama who were really upfront about Japan's past against countries in the region. So, the next time you fawn on someone so generously , get some perspectives. There is always a bad side to a good person.
