The fact that they want to erase this part of history is disheartening. On judgement day all will be remembered 🙏🏾

There are twice as many slaves in Muslim countries today than the United States held in the entire history of US slavery. Let’s be discussed by that never being talked about.

Thanks for sharing Emmit Smith’s relatives stories. Stories like these need to be told because they are true and they shed light on our current status as a society. As Emmitt Smith said, the ancestors’ stories are truly inspirational, and what we are going through does not really compare. We understand why they fought so hard for their freedom and their rights. Thank you for inspiring me!😊

Burnt Corn, Alabama. My 4th Great Granduncle is Joel Lee, born near Smithfield, in Johnston County NC, Jan 4, 1773. In 1817, Joel moved his family to the Burnt Corn settlement. He is considered one of the 1st settlers in the newly formed Conecuh County. When Alabama was admitted into the Union in 1819, Gov. William Bibb appointed Joel Lee to be Conecuh County’s first Justice of the Peace. I am so glad you took this journey into your family’s history as you reminded me of a part of mine. Amazing how small this old world really is sometimes. God bless.

Let's not forget the history of humanity nor the fact there's millions of slaves still existing in todays world, particularly in Africa, China, and the Middle East but indeed even in western countries to a smaller degree. All life is equal and the job is not done. Just look at the recently released film The Sound of Freedom for a glimpse at injustices still occurring.

Don’t leave any stones unturned. Don’t go to far from the American Indian. Sometimes it will lead you into another journey. Not only in Africa but the Americas. Your wife has a lot of American Indian in her. Her lineage will take a new direction in your life. Again don’t leave any stones unturned. Yes dark skin Indians were enslaved by lighter skin Indians. We all don’t have to call Africa home. The Europeans don’t.

I mentioned this video to "Adventures into History" Robert Wright, who locate and document old gravesites. He replied that Emmitt's family members could be found. I recently saw NFL player Emmitt Smith on a "Who Do You Think You Are" video. They found the cemetery of his family's slave owner in Monroe County, Alabama. He was told his ancestors would have been buried in an adjacent area that was extremely overgrown. They just assumed they wouldn't be able to find them so they didn't look. I thought someone with your knowledge could possibly find them. Reply Highlighted reply @AdventuresIntoHistory @AdventuresIntoHistory 9 hours ago Yeah, if they knew the area they could’ve been found.

Maybe we will soon find out where exactly they were buried and if not at least find the depressions in the ground where graves were located.
