@NotMyActualName_
@NotMyActualName_ Месяц назад
It's really the dumbest possible ranking system you can think of. The only truly accurate metric of how well those drafts turned out is the future productivity of those players, but you can't do that within 15 minutes of the players being drafted, so we lose patience with it. The best "instant soup" version of a draft grade would probably be something like an average consensus draft position vs where each player was selected at. But even that is stupid because it doesn't reflect whether a player actually ends up being any good.
@RedMage117
@RedMage117 Месяц назад
Yeah that only really tells you how well they did compared to how well they should have. So you look at their picks and determine what scire they should have got and then look at what they got and the difference is their score. That makes more sense

Later in the draft, you just want the "best available player"? Just sort by the ranking. Both scenarios require "boiling it down to a number" before they're possible.

Giving draft grades is basically just to give sports journalists something to talk about, they do nothing else at all. There is no way you can judge the efficiency of a pick by its value. Penix at 8th for the giants is different than penix at 8th to the falcons, chiefs, bills etc. And nobody knows if rookie transfer and adapt well to the nfl. @@Rynos8771 I mean 2021 they got najee and freiermuth, Kendrick green didn't work out in Pittsburgh but he started for the Texans all last year. Dan Moore while not great has started 3 years at left tackle and played well enough to get to the playoffs 2 out of his 3 years. 2022 Pickett is serviceable had a winning record in the NFL and is a high end back up. Pickens, Calvin Austin and Mark Robinson came out of that draft and have all done decent with their starts and leal is developing into a nice piece. Conner heyward has also been a really nice blocking tight end and him Austin and Robinson all play important roles on special teams. Then 2023 Broderick Jones, and Joey Porter jr which they got because they traded the bears chase claypool for the 32nd pick which was highway robbery. Keanu Benton is on his way to becoming a stud, Darnell Washington great blocking tight end and Nick herbig who is tj watts protege. So yeah I'd say they've drafted well as they always have and they smashed this years draft out of the park

@@Rynos8771 not sure what you need to see from last year's draft as jpj, Broderick, Darnell Washington and Benton all were basically full time starters half way through the season

that's a little silly. The top guy (150pts) might be a 150 for most teams, but if the Chiefs had drafted Caleb Williams at #1 that wouldn't be a great choice. Need totally matters. See: the Atlanta Falcons...

Bills & Eagles killed this draft. Bills have a shitload of day 1 & 2 picks plus are hella under the cap in 2025, the sun is shining in Buffalo for a long time. Coincidentally-Cincy, Baltimore, GB, SF, Miami & Houston will all be entering cap purgatory in 25 & 26; guess who isn’t…. KC & Buffalo

The Steelers and the management are tired of losing the fans are tired of losing butt with Tomlin on the clock right now he's going to have a short leash if he doesn't do something with this talent that they have this coming year and they are building quality depth at every position because they know what happened last year with the linebacking crew

Eagles got, what, 3 2025 draft picks? And still got all those players. Bet he doesn't even bother with that. Also you are grading draft process decisions, not players.

Colts are not that good. Pat says every year how they are the best team in the nfl when they aren’t even the best in the afc, maybe not even their own division.. patriots are the same. They drafted a quarerback 4 years ago too and they are apparently the best team in the nfl again. Ask the jags how Mac jones feels on their roster. Steelers went all offensive lineman which is a great draft when you already have everything else you need. Their secondary could really use some help but big people in the trenches can never hurt your team.

It's mentioned in this video that the Steelers have made nothing but great moves over the last couple years but who did the Steelers draft in the first round in 2022? Even those with tiny hands and fingers can count that it was just 2 years ago they drafted Kenny Picket in the first round and he was a projected 2nd or 3rd round QB, and has played like a 6th rounder thus far, so please go back and watch videos of the team talking about how great Kenny was going to be for them and how he was their star QB of the future and you'll see that they made a terrible move. Also the Colts had a top 5 draft in 2024 and they will prove that this is not a proven way to grade a draft.
