Four police officers beat one soldier, so the soldier went to their camp, and when he returned, he was accompanied by two military trucks and a humvee with a 50 caliber machine gun pointed at the police station. As a result, all cops who assaulted a soldier were apprehended, loaded onto a truck, beaten, and thrown back to their police station.
This is a textbook example of a cop who, after realizing that he'd gone too far, tried to intimidate the victim into not pushing further with the incident, under the threat of prosecution. That cop was justifiably fired. It's people like him that actually make policing more difficult.

Legally they do not have qualified immunity when they violate your rights. That's why there is even a civil suit. 🙄 Edit - in this case I mean to say. You can always sue the department (the people) if it is the policy that's at fault. In a case like this though they lose it. There is a reason for the use of the term qualified. When you delay pulling over for OVER A MILE you have to inform the officers that you're hesitating to pull over... The law has given several examples of how you can do so, including slowing down to 15-20mph (varies by state) with hazard lights or blinkers, dialing 911 and informing the operator of what you're doing, or flagging down the officer... When he failed to acknowledge, officers conducted a felony stop.... I assume you know what a felony stop is? If you do, then you'll know this was a classic barricaded suspect...

The fact that lawyers and police chiefs can consistently say, "There was nothing wrong" to these, is exactly why nobody has faith in them anymore. First you can see him struggling with his fellow officer's actions and kind of sort of thinking about stopping this incident and preventing his partner from doing the wrong thing. But the thin blue line, and probably a seniority of the other policeman kick in, and his humanity and morals are wiped out when he joins in tackling the innocent black guy. There was a moment when he could have come out of this encounter as a freaking hero who would show the general public that all policemen are not the same and that there are some bad apples that make them all look bad. Which is why the police did what's known as a felony stop, surround the vehicle guns drawn, demand the suspect out of the vehicle and lay on the ground so the officers can place them in cuffs. Although his intent was simply to hesitate, the officers did have reasonable suspicion due to his failure to inform the officer he is waiting to pull over.

Also the reason of having a paper plate is not a reasonable excuse to pull over a vehicle in the first place. Like in my original statement, with this officers attitude, the driver was more than justified to drive to a well lit area, rather than take the chance of what may happen in a dark secluded spot with no witnesses.

As of 2/11/22 the officer's appeal to dismiss this case was denied. However, in MAY/22 all 4 judges on the 5th Judicial Circuit recused themselves from hearing the case. Virginia Supreme Court appointed a retired Judge to stand in on the case. Case texts available under Nazario v. Gutierrez, civil action.
Dismiss the $1,000,000 lawsuit and file a $2,000,000 on principal. It’ll be a lesson (to the employee) that govt abuse stings. (This cop and any govt employee need to pay for their own crimes, not us.) Edits in (parenthesis) for clarity.

There are “secret / undocumented ” quotas that commanding officers often put on the traffic units to increase tickets. Furthermore there are no databases that highlight police misconduct to the extent of not rehiring bad officers thus our Justice system does need reform. But the underlying problem of most crime involves the family structure, education, and job opportunities . Until those are first addressed then we can move towards reform of these other branches.

This was caused by the citizens own lack of communication by failing to acknowledge that he was going to pull over and ended up leading the officers on a mile and a half chase. If he turned his hazards on or called the police to notify dispatch, he would be fine.. But he just continued driving and ignoring the officer until he decided to pull over... Additionally you also have the misconception that people are allowed to pull over in a "well lit area"... The law doesnt say anything about a lit area... It says when it's safe to do so... When getting pulled over you litterally have a giant seizure warning on wheels with flood lights and alternating flashing lights that can be seen for miles.... You'll be just fine on the side of the road...

The lawsuit should’ve been for $10 million on sale value and he should never to wear a officer uniform in the whole United States he’s a disgrace to the uniform and to our country
The only question is how big to make the check out to this guy. Firing the cop wasn't enough. He should be charged with a crime. One of the most damning statements from the cop, in my opinion, is when the driver says "I'm afraid of cops" and the cop says "You should be." It's just too stupid to believe.
The cops lost all support when they told a member of the public that they should be afraid of the cops. The cops are literally admitting that they are not protectors, they are a threat!
That was an absolute travesty what they did to that service vet. And now those spineless clowns Don't think they deserve any punishment. I would prosecute To the fullest. That man serves his country and gets treated like that. wow is all I have to say.
I didn’t see the original video.. Did LT comply with the officers orders/directions? Why did the officer arrest the LT? Why was the LT pepper sprayed if he complied?
@@COORS5766 watch all the video. The Lt. Had and agenda by recording. If he would have complied, it would have ended there. Instead, he kept holding the door while the officer tried to open it. He brought all this on himself.
Didn’t watch the whole video did you? He was told countless times before hand to get out of the car long before pepper spray even came into the picture, and wouldn’t of even been told to get out of the car had he not drove well over a mile before pulling over even if it was to get to a highly lit up area. Then he kept arguing with the cops about getting out of the car. Just because he was in uniform doesn’t mean argue with commands.
@@Morgan_Au their's no warrant nor valid reason to pull him over and search his person and vehicle. Having paper plates is not cause for exigent circumstances. The stop was bogus. .... And lets not even talk about the deputy trying to weasel his why out of any kind of accountability near the end of the encounter.

@@Morgan_Au his plates are clearly visible in the cop’s own body camera footage, from multiple angles, a point the police chief readily conceded. Your “facts” are irrelevant to this argument you’re attempting to mount. This was absolutely a Fourth amendment violation. And the First Amendment violation really isn’t debatable. He was offered a literal quit pro quo trade for his silence and agreement not to report what occurred. Of course I’m just one little federal judge who happens to be licensed in Virginia sharing my opinion; what could I possibly know?
