Yeah, in fact he's not that precise - which need more practice, in few weeks we can see some sub 20 with optimizations for sure

@@Evil_Arthas definitely some optimizations. I think going into the golem temple and fighting golem there would be faster than trying to look for the alter in the DDG menu. Especially if the temple is close to the bulb. And there is probably a seed with a faster bast statue as well.

It was certainly quite a change from most of my characters having several hundred hours, to trying to beat the game quickly. I have no doubt that someone else will eventually shatter this record, but it stands for now!

I can't take credit for the idea, but damn does it make the run easier. The original method required some _even more convoluted_ Transmutations.

Educated guesswork is a pretty good way of describing it! Honestly, the original discovery of "desync tech" in general came about from a casual playthrough where I had too much free time, and after that one discovery led to another.

There's already about 10 minutes worth of timesave which I just haven't had time to implement, since I've been working hard at trying to get out a video guide for how to do Transmuitation. I've been hypothesizing faster ways of executing certain Transmutations the entire time, though, lol

I disagree this is exactly how the devs intended you to play the game.

On all non-For The Worthy difficulties, defense wins. Worm scarf + full warding + beetle armor + potions, etc. can give ludicrous damage reductions of 80%+. You can still get a reasonable dodge via accessories in there, too, like the tabi and maybe the brain of confusion if you want, though I usually run other things. On legendary difficulties, dodge wins because it's basically impossible to tank when everything does 600 damage.

Previous, the 1.4 Board was entirely dead, since the category just wasn't interesting, as 1.4 didn't have any speedrun-useful glitches. 1.4 NMA (The main category) was far more alive. 1.4 was renamed to 1.4 Glitched about a week after Transmutation went live for clarity, and it's slowly getting populated with runs.

Great question! So, doors in Terraria are weird. Basically, when you break a door, the game deletes a 2 wide and 3 tall area of tiles to remove the door object. Note how I use the word "delete". This deletion of tiles ignores block updates, allowing us to remove a piece of the Bast statue without causing it to update- This technique is called the "Stabilized Bast Statue", and it's a way to make it so that when doors inevitably "explode" and inadvertently delete tiles when doing future transmutations, they don't damage the Basts. (We basically do a controlled door detonation, before a door blows up in our face and forces us to reset- As, you're correct, if a door breaks those tiles it won't cause the Bast to update. But when we go to re-place those tiles to make valid space for the door, that's when the Bast breaks.) To accomplish this controlled deontation, we use the Campfire Glitch to trick the game into thinking that the top piece of the door, is the bottom of the door (If you look carefully at the weird sprite, you can see that the door is kinda like the bottom of another wooden door.). So, the games deletes the 2 x 3 area from that part of the door. The end-result is reducing the effective hat size from 8 tiles, to 5- the rightmost 3 tiles can now be freely interacted with (so if they get deleted again by another door, we can place them back without breaking the Bast). (I'm saving this description to help with scripting for the comprehensive guide I'm working on, heh)

Unfortunately not, since Plantera is a tile on its own spritesheet and we haven't found a way to manipulate tile IDs (yet), only sprite values. The current 9-minute WR uses something called a forced Plantera spawn, which basically abuses RNG to make a Plantera bulb appear under spawn with near-100% probability.

Plus the fact that you did it while also pausing and rereading all of your notes and videos, then there were a few interruptions like that random goofy worm that interrupted you and such, and ofc the fact that things can just be done more consistently and faster in general, these discoveries could maybe even reduce the run down to a sub 25 or even lower depending on how well people can memorize and practice this.

Figured out a 9-minute timesave in setup today, so that'll be coming in the next run. Sub-20 is basically free with that.

The current record is 7 minutes by Kasserne. It's... absolutely insane, and worthy of a watch.

A nine-minute time save in Transmutation setup was discovered today, so... That leaves only nine more to go! And, I've also thought of a few ways to save time when Transmuting items, which I just haven't had a chance to implement alongside editing the other videos. So... You might be right. I thought Sub-15 was the human floor, but it might be sub-10.

The sword better have either flames or cool glowing runes or I'm going to be disappointed.

@@EthyrielY just saw the run, looks absolutely crazy. I tried the glitch to get a terra blade but it took so long, and they did it in a Few minutes which is really interesting. Can’t wait to see what happens next
