At the start of the game if you invite mazzini as agitator, yuo have a bouns to your university as event and mazzini is an intelligientia radical agitator, you can even grant him comand and max out his ranck for the max bonus to the party and grant him leadership. Non bad at all and is completly free, i always invite him (and i am italian so i am proud of this caracther) :)

On the topic of the Kiel canal, if I'm remembering a development diary correctly, the Kiel canal wasn't included in the game because they had included it in an early development build, and they found that it changed almost nothing about the trade calculations nor the path finding calculations for fleets and armies, while increasing the performance cost of those calculations quite a bit.

As long as it is the only war you are participating in you can switch sides. Easy to exploit the AI by waiting on a war from a major power, pause the game and join on the side opposite of the side you actually want to get something from then switch sides. If you are already participating in another war even if the war hasn't started then you can't switch sides in any other conflicts.

Wonder if you have some basic Vicky 3 advice. My biggest problem when playing the game as an expansionist country (even as someone like Greece just trying to retake core lands with my own nationality) is dealing with the enormous growth of radicals. Radicals are hard enough to deal with when I'm struggling to find jobs for my POPs later in the game, but when I get a million or more just dumped on me all at once, and have turmoil slowing building growth to boot, things rapidly spiral out of control. Anyone here know a good way to anticipate or correct massive radical populations?
