I am not here to offend you, but the V8s and the V12s also sound nearly as much awesome as the V10s... BUT there's an engine sounding like maybe 10 V10s at the same time, which was an absolutly beast ... sadly never raced for F1. .. it sat in the Mazda 787b... This rotary .. Well 4 rotor N/A engine revving 9000 rpm making over 700 horses.. was capable for 900 horses at about 10 to 11000 rpm... but the japanese engeneers thought, it would be not able to be driveable.. haha, nonetheless F1 engines are one of the best sounding ones ever, doesn't matter if V8, V10, or V12.... holy moly .... just the V6es from nowadays are ehhh.... :((

⁠​⁠Holden Commodore V8 Supercar, BMW M3 GTR, Sauber C9/C11, Marcos LM600 GT2, Cosworth DFV and of course the almigthy Cosworth 2.4L V8 … The V8 gave birth to a lot of the greatest engine sounds, hasn’t it?

V12 sounds deeper and much more raw🎉

The V10 is the loudest: louder than the v12 because it revved higher than the v12 and louder than the v8 because it had more cylinders.

@@7777Leander I saw the Hungarian grand prix in person in 2004 and 2013 and the V8 cars literally hurt my and my father's ears after a while but that wasn't the case with the V10s

In a straight line, but in the corners V10 DESTROYS the v6 in the corners. They were both lighter and more powerful the v10 cars, not to mention had plenty of downforce unlike the v6's.

+NuclearGaming todays v6s are faster than v10s back then. Yes v10s did produce about 1000 bhp but the v6 cars are more aerodynamic and rival the v10 in downforce. The v10 are tied with v6s in the corners in my opinion with the v10s. But in a straight line, v6 wins. Watch laps if monza or any other racetrack and compare the speed in the straights. V6 dominates that at monza reaching 360km/h

+unknownf1fan they are faster, its really not all about lap speed. It has to do with weather and temperature and driver ability. An example of this was keke rosberg's record at silverstone 30 years ago. It stood for 17 years and cars were clearly faster at the time the record was beaten. Its only been 10 years and trust me v6s are faster and have more downforce. They are just to get faster

Martin Carrillo the V8T was ideal for performance peaks and the V12 was just mental in the mid range but the V10 was the most beautiful singer of them. doesn't matter the current V6T has killed the beauty of it. I can't wait till the 2015 V6T dies honestly it just sounds miserable.

i feel exactly the same way about the V10s, when i think of an f1 car that is the sound it seems like it's supposed to make. maybe because i was born in 1994 so the V10's were what i grew up with, long live hakkinen!

V10 from a musical perspective plays a major 3rd while V6 and V12 play a major 5th. V8 simply plays an octave.

@@bakedandsteaked this is why V10s and i5s sound so unique. A major 3rd (C to E) is a bit more dissonant than a perfect 5th (C to G). In this case, the dissonance isnt strong enough to sound bad, so it ends up sounding pretty cool.

@@bakedandsteaked excuse my ignorance but aren't v6s NOT ≠ i6 harmonically? Reason I ask is because I6s and v6s have vastly different firing orders i.e V6=2 i3s bolted together at the crank. Whereas V12s are 2 i6s bolted together. A clear example of this difference in firing order are the naturally balanced nature of i6/v12s over the inherently imbalance nature of i3s/v6. Genuine question im interested in learning (engineering student lol)

I don't think there's alot in it between the V10 and V12 to be honest, I actually prefer the more musical almost symphonic sound of the V12.
