I find that cars always handle better in cockpit view or in T cam. (Formula One 99) & (Monaco GP Racing Sim 2) are my favourites for PS1 the graphics, the handling & the AI features are great. (F1 2000) & (F1 2001) look good too.
Formula 1CE/97 has a crazy fun arcade mode. However, the steering in GP mode is wayyy too stiff for me, especially without the DualShock support. The original Formula 1 suited my tastes in steering more in GP mode than CE/97. The original game controlled more realistically in arcade mode as well, which you may like or dislike depending on who you are. The big surprise for me is how much I enjoyed the F1 2000 games from EA. Champ Season 2000 in particular refined the controls just how I liked it, and I was flying through Suzuka with a big smile.
I remember trying several F1 games on PS1. In short, I liked it more for being able to run the F1 championship season 2000 game on the highest difficulty with complete races. The parameters were adjusted in each competition. The only thing that could be criticized was the AI of that time, which did not offer a more realistic experience.
PC gaming was very niche - VERY niche - in the 90s, so for the vast majority of people, the leap in Formula One simulation was represented by Microprose's Formula One Grand Prix, released in 1991 and mostly played on the Amiga, and then Formula 1 appearing on the PSX in 1996, five years later. Hardware-wise, although the Amiga 500 appeared in 1987, it was comparable to the Mega Drive and SNES and therefore just a generation apart from the PSX. On a 19" CRT, it almost looked photorealistic for the time. This is what a generational leap should look like.
"F1 World Grand Prix: 1999 Season" is exactly as I remember it. Such a promising game, but my god, the handling was awful. I thought I just needed to practice it, but the game was unplayable. Probably most people thing the Formula 1 '99 game by Psygnosis was the best, but I was never really a fan, I thought the handling was too fidgity and unpredictable. For me, the king is still the Formula 1 '97 game. Just brilliant. The EA games were also quite good for the time.
Which one was the F1 PSX game which was more realistic that you start a career mode in lower tier manufactures then you need to have an amazing performance to be invited to the major ones? I remember that had way superior graphics in comparison with other F1 games in that time, the physics were great.
To be fair, Formula Nippon is a different racing series, separate from F1. Also, Formula Circus and Formula GP aren't necessarily F1 since they are unlicensed.
I use to have a ps1 F1 game that i use to play as a kid and the only thing i can remember from it was losing a tire every time i crash can yall help me out to find out wich one it i? Thanks V/R
There was this F1 PS1 game I played back then. I don't remember what it was called. What I remember is, in the career mode, it has Go-Kart racing and IndyCar as well. Does anyone know what that game was called?
isnt le mans 24 hours or le mans test drive available on the ps1? i know i saw it on a list somewhere ok i just looked it up test drive le mans is for the ps1 so you missed that game
