it is a super effective move against people with a wide upper frame, making the triangle VERY difficult to sink successfully. I still think its a high risk move because it doesnt have a secure lock down point UNTIL the arms are looped around the torso. We may just get to see it in the Mir/Brock. This fight i believe provides a perfect stage for the submission. I cant imagine how hard it would be for Mir to secure a tri on brock so if given the option, im certain hed go for teepee.

Forrest is a solid dude, I like his attitude. He doesn't disrespect his opponents at all. I feel sorry for him that he got knocked out so fast and that he was embarassed, but this is Anderson Silva we're talking about. Anderson Silva is the most awesome fighter I've ever seen besides Bruce. To get knocked out by the Spider shouldn't be a cause of shame for anyone, it should be expected. Forrest Griffin is still a badman.

People don't realize that MMA is such a fast sport that "the best"s are all coming out one after another, every week, every fight, there's someone that's better than the previous "best" It's constantly evolving and changing. Forrest will be around for a while, he's a regular now

And nobody that has a record like Silva would lose to someone like Griffin.Ever.Silva is the king of pound to pound,and he doesn't need "actings" to win anyone.

forrest is a heavyweight. yeah the UFC only offers around 20-40k depending on the fight, but this one was special. Dana White must have though Griffin needed a little more than the standard payrate as inspiration

I, very much like you, was shocked that forrest got beat so easily. However, take the Trilogy between boxers Mickey Ward and Arturo Gatti. They brawled like any fight i've ever seen. They were just evenly matched. Once they took higher lever competition, they were easily disposed of. You can get a brawl with two evenly matched nobodies, but only because their evenly matched.

It is a nice submission. Teepee is very effective in certain situations. In most cases, when one leg is crossed over the back, the immediate thing to do is to sink a triangle. something every fighter trains against. By not sinking it and waiting to find the right moment to loop your hands behind your legs and torso of the opponent, he will have an ample amount of time to throw that leg down and put you into side control. Only one thought crosses when a leg hits your neck GET THE FUCK OUT
