This video is the start of a 7-part series on Ancient Cosmology. Where we will be visiting the cosmological accounts from the primary religions and mythologies that developed around the Mediterranean.
In this cursory look at Genesis, my intention is to drum up questions and considerations around translating ancient scripture and interpreting it. As well, we have to consider the context from which any cosmology arises. That is, the internal and human aspects of curiosity, and the civilizations that already developed cosmologies that certainly influenced the Hebrew Genesis.
I understand that some of the dates mentioned herein are the subject of unending debate. But this should provide you with a synopsis of the Genesis Cosmology and some brief takeaways.

Dan Mclellan, a biblical scholar, tries to clear up some of the confusion around the plurality of Elohim here (clearly Elohim can also be used as a singular way to refer to god, nonetheless the use of the word "our" in Genesis 1:26 and us in 3:22 suggests plurality at face value) : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IDb6puitzoQ.html

One not so obvious detail I would point out is that Elohim is derived from the singular Eloah which comes from the root El. El means power or mighty one. Since the El or God is omnipresent and is the everything that is in everything or all in all, that insinuates the fact that God is manifesting as the universe and these manifestations are plural. All the forces of nature and every creature are an emanation of the One power, El. According to the hebrew all of the sons of god or rational beings are called elohim. Psalm 82 states this. The universe is divine but the highest of concentration of the divine is manifest in sons of god made in the image and shadow. This the word elohim can mean anything from god to angel(messenger), judge son of god, human. The infinite contains all the finite within. With El are the elohim the divine council or crown of creation. Nature is not called elohim but is still divine since it is a manifestation of the Infinite source. There is nothing outside of the infinite hence being called omnipresent. There is an order to the universe which when is violated ignorantly or with intent, carries consequences on a gradient with the greater deviation leading to greater consequences. There is an ancient saying of which the source i’m not sure of but it says that when God created the universe, said I am and part of the infinite became finite although still infinite in its nature and part of the whole of the infinite oneness of God. I believe that’s the most ancient understanding of “God is One”. Not a He or She or they but the Transcendent over everything. The infinite unity revealed in finite multiplicity. In truth there are no words to express the Infinite One. All religions best works are mere anthropomorphic perversions of the magnificence of the Source. Truly we are one like Nikola tesla said and only ego’s and beliefs separate us. There is some good evidence that the old testament is penned somewhere is the 3rd to 1st century B.C. and we’re using the platonic noble lies idea to claim that the source of the bible came from ancient times and from God. Plato was most likely the real Moses. The 72 scholars tasked to create the septuagint were the sanhedrin.

Some important points to be made here that should not go unnoticed. By studying Hebrew grammar we see that בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית begins with the vowel point known as the shva. This implies not that of the beginning but rather that of a beginning meaning that the text focuses on a beginning apart from all other beginnings. There are other scenarios which do not concern this text. Another point, scripture uses both the singular form for nouns and the plural form interchangeably sometimes confusing the translator. One reason is that as it cannot resolve the age old philosophical dilemma of the one and the many it attempts to obviate this aporia by this oscillation twixt the singular and plural forms. Hence it states "Let us create man in our image as our likeness . . ." But, the next verse says he created man in his image. Also, the Adam is mentioned in the singular pronoun of him but also in the plural pronoun of them. When describing the Adam as the syzygy, that is of having both masculinity and femininity, it is described as them but pertaining to him. (This vacillation is symbolized in the running and returning of the four beasts in Ezekiel's vision). And Elohim refers to the one towards the many as God relates to its creation -- its κόσμοι. The radical subjectivity of God or essence, ουσία, is its deeply rooted singularity relating ultimately to itself as Τὸ Ἕν. Hence in the next chapter, the two terms are paired, the explicit name or Tetragrammaton and Elohim. The former is its radical subjectivity while the latter term refers to the demiurge, its relationship with creation.

The English translation of Genesis 1:5 used here in this video is incorrect. Here, it states that is day one י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד. In Genesis 1:8, it switches from cardinality (day one) to ordinality as the second day י֥וֹם שֵׁנִֽי. This is when the celestial clepsydra is introduced as the vertical separation of the waters. Ordinality is a priori to the measure of time. Alas, this too is implied in the firsts verse of Genesis where it uses the grammatical particle אֵ֥ת which spans the entire Hebrew alphabet -- its alpha and omega so to speak.

I do and did acknowledge that the English translations were faulty.

There's no reason to assume Jehovah was one of a pantheon from these verses. He had Jesus and the angels with Him in the spirit realm, whom he clearly was speaking to when He said "let us make man in our image@, indicating our spiritual aspect which animals seem to lack. The priority when reading scripture needs to be what is right, not being right.

That’s the Christian approach, of course. But Genesis was not a Christian writing. Ancient Jews certainly called on multiple divinities, as in the case of their magical texts. There is definitely more than one reason, as a point of evidence and not assumption, to suspect that there are multiple gods in the Book of Genesis. If you can provide evidence and an argument that indicates otherwise, I will gladly be open to it. And might even change my opinion, considering I would rather understand what is “right” than enjoy the egotistic pleasure of “being right.”

@@americanesotericthe Trinitarian doctrine could not have been recognized by man until after Jesus was incarnated, but allusions to it are present throughout the OT right back to the first lines of Genesis.

The immediacy of direct experience. The felt presence of the meaning we experience in life. The overwhelming reality of the dreams you felt were so real are not any less real than the dull memories of all the boring days passed. We rely on what we know to be true. Only the pain and pleasure moving you through the reality you construct with your perceptions. Through the language you use to create your world. You speak it and it is so. For you, but not for me, for me I too am a prisoner to the creation of my own thoughts and conceptions. We feel it to be true, we see it so, we speak it so. Through story we live and die.

In the New Testament sometimes "Christ" is used as a Title but most of the time it's used as a Name. Anyone think that matters? It reminds me of how Elohim from Genesis 1 is a title but Yahweh Elohim from Genesis 2 is a name. Amos 5 Names of God Bible 27 I will send you into exile beyond Damascus, says Yahweh, whose name is Elohe Tsebaoth.

Christ refers to the prophetic role of Jesus as savior of the world, in Greek it means "the anointed one" and in Hebrew "Messiah". so I.E Jesus the anointed or Jesus the messiah.

Also the animals were not under the curse of sin until man transgressed... therefore they did not kill for meat, they ate the same diet as man was originally prescribed... fruits, nuts, etc. Veggies came in as a result of sin! Lol
